Very easy to use. The manual is excellent. It comes with most of the nessary wires (no 18V input though). The 12V switchs at the back are easy to use with the old boss pedals.

Sound Quality : 9
Everything sounds great. Esspecially my old late 70's boss CE-2 Chorus. I had been using it with a 9v batery for years and the difference it makes on 12v is amazing much clearer. Can't find those damn ACA adapters anymore.

Reliability : 9
Looks exceptionally well built. Im gonna get a pedal board made for it pretty soon.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent! I dont know what everybody is complaining about with trying to get new cables. All you do is call them up, tell them what you want and they'll send it to you. It took me 5 mins and the man was very helpful!

Overall Rating : 9
I use a Fender Floor tuner - Fulltone FD2 - Fulltone Clyde Wah - Prescription Electronics Vibe Unit - 70's Boss CE-2 Chorus - 80's MXR Phase 90 w/Block Logo - 80's Ibanez AD9 Analog Delay and this handels everything perfectly. I just ordered the Y Cable for 18v for my fd2. This is a great power box!

It just couldn't be easier. Well-written instructions, easy to set-up and use

Sound Quality : 9
I play extended range bass, 8 individual strings, so my stuff goes from contra to piccolo, chords, etc. I use this with my pedal board which has (in order) EBS Octabass, Akai Unibass, EBS IQ, Barber Deep Fryer, TC Electronics Chorus, Flanger, Pitch Modulator, Line 6 DL-4 Delay into a Vintage Groove Tubes Studio Bass Preamp (Steve Rabe's contribution BEFORE SWR), Bellari rp282a tube compressor, Euphonic VL-210. NO ADDITIONAL NOISE OR HUM! The "sag" is THE DEAL for distortion. Before you go too far spending and spending to find the "right" overdrive, distortion or fuzz....get one of these and use the "sag" feature.

Reliability : 9
It's pretty new, so time will tell. But, I always carry the back-up wall warts...just in case. So far, it works just fine.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them yet.

Overall Rating : 10
This is supposed to be the tops for non-custom-built power supplies. It seems to be up to it's reputation, so far. The low-price power supplies...you get what you pay for...and worse sometimes. This one is topss...I would always have one for my board....not only for noise-free operation and convenience, but for the "sag" feature on my Barber distortion unit.

very.

Sound Quality : 9
it's dead quiet.
all i really wanted to say is that if you play a rat or have a vintage wah, use the Sag effect on em, it makes them sound like totally different pedals. i liked my rat, but now i love it, i don't use my amps overdrive anymore because of my love for the tone this thing creates.

Reliability : No Opinion
the cables connecting to my pedals were kinda shotty at first but they broke in well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't dealt with them.

it's vital to my playing, without it i'd go insane. i do have a grip though, how come they have 2 Line 6 outlets but only give u one line 6 connector? franlky i'm confused. also, how about at least 2 cables with male connectors, one's nice but i have a rat and an electroharmonix pedal, i have to run a power supply which doesn't work on the pedal because they put the outlet the wrong way. if u put it sideways or upside down i could use it, but since it's not i have to run a small power strip to plug into. the little things piss me off, but overall it's a great help. without it i'd need a strip to plug in all my individual powersupplies so who am i to complain.

THIS THING IS AWESOME...Just plug in and play.

Sound Quality : 10
I'm a blues man. My setup is a Fender Hot Rod deville 212 amp, I play a Ts-9 Tubescreamer(on all the time), a VOX Clyde McCoy Reissue, a Voodoo Lab Trem., a Voodoo Lab Proctavia, and I also use my amps tube distortion(I will also be including a Voodoo Lab Microvibe shortly). I play Fender Strat's with Custom Shop Texas Special pickups. There is virtualy no noise what so ever.

Reliability : 10
This thing is a Tank. I have dropped it with no problems.

Customer Support : 10
I needed some different cables to acomidate my pedals, I called them and they sent me what I needed (2cables) absolutly free. I'M SOLD. They get a gold star for the month.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing about 11 years and this was a great investment. Thing will pay itself off in battery money in no time. I you have 4 or more effects pedals than you should seriously consider getting one.

This thing is a cinch to use. Take out of box. Find appropriate cable for your pedal; standard for most (Boss, etc), barrell for DOD, red tip for Line6, and battery adapter for battery only. Set any necessary function switches to on (all were set to "normal" on mine out of the box, and the normal arrow is silk-screened onto the unit). Plug cables into PedalPower2. Plug PP2 into wall outlet. Done.

The only reason I give this a 9 is that the manual is really strict sounding and anal retentive. It's thorough and very user friendly, but it's almost like scare tactics on how to use their product.

Sound Quality : 10
Oh god, I'd give this an 11 if possible. Hell, I'd make sweet, sweet love to this thing for what it does to my sound, or more accurately, DOESN'T do to my sound.

I'm currently running a custom electric violin through this rig; violin -> Ibanez F7 Fuzz -> Dimebag Darrell signature Crybaby -> Boss PS-5 SuperShifter -> Boss DD-5 Digital Delay -> Zoom 504 Acoustic processor -> L.R.Baggs ParaAcoustic D.I., though this setup can and usually does change weekly. Until now I'd been using a generic $50 5-pedal power supply to power all of these, and I had to figure out exactly how to position all the lines and patch cables, what to run to where, where the wall-outlet line was running, etc etc ad nauseum. After much deliberation and frustration (as well as comments from bandmates like "You're humming again!"), I finally figured out the path to get the least amount of hum possible. However it was still there.

Then yesterday, I come home, take the old power box off my pedalboard, put the PP2 on using the old boxes cables and turned on our P.A. system. Sweet blissful silence. Then I turned up my D.I./ preamp volume. Still..... silence. Then I went over to the P.A. and cranked my channel to the point where if I literally had touched a string, I would've deafened myself and woken the neighbours. SILENCE!!!!!! I never thought I'd be so happy to hear nothing, well, until after putting 7 drum tracks down in the studio today!

I swear to god I am not making this up. This thing is silent. No hum. No buzz. Not a peep. I'm also very anxious to try out the sag (low battery) effect on some of my distortion boxes to see what all the fuss it about.

Reliability : 10
Cables look high quality. The box itself appears to be built like a tank. Good connections. Nice LED. I would (and will) use it without a backup with no worries.

Customer Support : 10
I was quite impressed. I sent a sort of non-priority email a week or three ago asking Voodoo Lab if I WERE to buy a PP2 and needed additional cables how to go about doing that, as well as a technical question about the product. In a day or two I recieved an email back addressing every issue I had, not pressing me to buy the product but offering information on it. They sold themselves. And I found out that if 1 or 2 cables is all you need, they will generally ship them out at no charge. That's customer service.

The thing also has a 5 year warranty on it.

Overall Rating : 10
I'll do the easy thing and answer the questions in this section:

This doesn't really have an impact on what style I play, but if anyone's interested they can check out our website. www.dustrhinos.com or listen to us at www.mp3.com/dustrhinos

Ever since I first put fiddle through pedal, I've wanted one of these. I'll admit I haven't used it much yet, but I don't see how things would change about it.

If it were stolen or lost, I'd definitely replace it. I'd resist the urge to injure the theif; rather I'd say to my bandmates "Do you want me to start humming again?" I have faith in them.

What do I love? It's quiet. Good cable length; no adaptors or lengtheners needed. It's a very nice size, and apparently fits in a rack drawer. The second AC outlet in the back is a very nice touch as well. The manual is quite thorough.

Hate? Well, I'm not sure how I feel about the removeable AC cord yet, and the clinical way the manual is written doesn't suit my tastes at all.

As far as I know, the Dunlop Brick is the closest competitor, and this has one more 9V outlet, no 18V outlets but you can combine two 9V ones, and this one gets power from a cord, not a wallwart, and getting rid of wallwarts is the reason to get a box like this in the first place!

The only thing I wish it has was more pedal outputs. If I could power 10 or 15 pedals with one box, I'd be sitting really pretty. But I can definitely live with 8.

This thing doesn't necessarily help you make music, but it eliminates hum that would annoy you and hinder you from making music. It lets you control what noise you're sending out to the audience, and for that reason alone, despite the manual, I'm giving this an overall 10.

though it's a power supply, it has some very cool features that take all of five minutes' worth of reading in the exceedingly well-written manual to understand. a lot of my friends have the old pedal power unit, and compared to the original unit, this one gives you the ability to power line 6 pedals on two of the eight outputs, as well as decrease the voltage (to simulate dying batteries) on two other outputs. very cool ideas--and obviously ones that were thought of by PLAYERS as opposed to guys who are just merely good at building stuff.

a power supply should be transparent in its sound, and this is. power supplies aren't created equal. some of them are just downright horrible--a fact i discovered when trying to power a fulltone clyde from a generic radio shack 9V adapter--and even a boss adapter. basically, when i used either of these units, the clyde hummed horribly. after contacting mike fuller at fulltone, mike explained that a lot of power supplies actually vary in their voltage quite a bit, and that you really needed to use a high-quality, regulated power supply to power his pedals--he recommended the pedal power 2.

as i said, the unit is transparent, the features are very well thought-out, and the manual is exceedingly well written--and concise. plus, the unit comes with a variety of connectors so that you can even use it to power pedals that don't have AC jacks.

Sound Quality : 10
i'm using the pedal power 2 to supply power to a pedalboard that includes the following: fulltone clyde, aspect design labs single switchbox, axess electronics BS-2 buffer/splitter, korg DT-2 tuner, MXR dynacomp, MXR phase 90, Z vex super hard on, line 6 modulation modeler, and line 6 delay modeler. i've got room for one more unit on the pedal power 2, so i'll probably put on a voodoo lab tremolo pedal, as well.

as i said before, the pedal power 2 is transparent as far as sonic quality.

Reliability : 10
voodoo lab stuff is built like the proverbial tank. i can't imagine this thing failing.

Customer Support : 10
i've dealt with josh fiden and skip urmson at voodoo lab, and they are great guys to deal with...always very professional and eager to give you the right information. you couldn't ask for better customer support.

Overall Rating : 10
the guitar player review basically said it all...there are lots of ways to power your pedals, but this is one way that actually DOES work, and will allow you to do so without profanity.

Ease of Use : 10
It's a power supply & it's really easy to use. Plug it in and go is pretty much it. I'm powering a bunch of 9v pedals along with 2 Line 6 modelers and it works great. The manual is pretty brief, but is more extensive than what I've seen them include with their effects pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
No hum at all, it's a beautiful thing. 2 of the outputs have a "sag" control that you can use to simulate a battery that's been used for a while. You can also set the controls so that these 2 outputs don't "sag" and function just like the others do.

Reliability : 10
It's had a few months of use & so far it's been great.

Customer Support : 5
I've tried to contact them about additional power cables by e-mail & have not received a response, which might not be their fault but is still a bit annoying.

Overall Rating : 8
It's great, I'd buy another if I had to. I'm not happy about the price, it seems pretty steep for a power supply even if it is a frickin' cool one.

Easy to use just plug in and away you go. Just hit the appropriate dip-switches for older Boss pedals or other non-standard units.

My only gripe is that the knob that controls sag has no marks or gradations on it, so it is difficult to return to a previous setting without having to figure it out all over again. This would be an easy fix.

Sound Quality : 10
No sound of course, but it powers all my toys without any problems.

Reliability : 10
No problems yet, had it for about 8 months.

Never dealt with..

Overall Rating : 9
I recommend this unit for flexibility alone. Dealing with batteries or multiple power units just plain stinks. Yes it is expensive, but in the long run will probably pay for itself in saved batteries and headaches. Also the sag feature is very nice with the right pedal. (makes a big difference with the sparkledrive and superfuzz)

Pretty easy to use. Manual is easy to understand. But Voodoo Lab/Digital Music Corp. doesn't provide enought DC-Power cords. There should be at least 3 mini bar cables and a couple of barell cords with negativ center.

Returned it after one week (because of bad Customer support)

Customer Support : 1
This is the reason for returning the unit. I emailed them because of information on additional DC-Cords (where to get? price? etc). Never got back to me.
Sorry Voodoo Lab: No Support - no purchase!!! It's that easy!

Overall Rating : 3
Do you need saged outputs? If not, don't get the PedalPower. Rather get the VisualSound 1-Spot, or the Switchmode Power. They are doing the same thing (provinding your stomp boxes with hum- and noisefree power) and are way less expensive. For example, in Europe you can get about 10 1-Spots for the average price of one Pedal Power.
Plus you save space for one or two stomp boxes on your pedal board.
It's enoying that even that the unit is so expensive, they are neither providing you with enough DC-Power cords (Come on guys, they are really not that expensive) nor do they give you the possibility to purchase additional cords.
Sorry, but this is ridiculous. There was no reason for me to keep the unit: way to expensive - didn't provide the power cables I needed - no support at all.

Simple to use, just plug your effects into the proper inputs, make sure the dipswitches are set correctly and away you go. Each input is used to power 9v to a pedal. If you have a pedal that requires 18v, you can wire two inputs in series and power the pedal from there (you can either make the cable yourself or special order from the company). Be sure to read the manual (very detailed by the way!) to make sure you set up everything properly and use the correct connections. It is very clear as to what you should and should not do, and tells you how to double check to make sure you accidently plug the wrong type of cable that could potentially harm your pedals. If you need a special cable, you can always contact the Custom Shop talked about in the manual.

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely no noise, no hum, just the way it should be. I really like the sag control, which allows you change the amount of power given to your pedal.. range is from 4-9 volts. There's a courtesy outlet on the back of the unit that I use to plug my Deluxe Electric Mistress into. NOTE: Do NOT plug your amp into this outlet, or else you will damage your Pedal Power 2.

Reliability : 10
This thing is built to last. It's small, but it's a heavy little bugger, made up of completely thick heavy metal outer casing. The torodial (sp?) transformer really adds to the weight. I would gig without a back up unit, but I'd probably keep a couple of 9v batteries just to be safe.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, this thing is great. I mean, I used to get tired of buying 9v batteries all the time, and I just didn't have enough outlets if I were to buy adapters for every pedal I own. The thing causes absolutely no hum or interference. For those who are looking to get rid of adapters or stop buying batteries, this is definately the thing you want. It's expensive, but really pays off in the long run real quickly.
