Absolutely simple.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
not sure yet.

Reliability : 9
Looks pretty solid. When my voodoo lab sparkle drive pedal's footswitch broke after several years, they replaced it immediately for free, and that's the only problem I've had with that one.

This is why I'm writing this review. I run a little studio in Chicago, project-budget, all digital, and so obviously I spend a lot of time on the phone with customer service people. Try even getting through to MOTU, or finding a number MXL. Voodoo Labs picked up right away, and helpful from start to finish in getting me the eight new connectors I needed for this pedal power I bought on ebay. This worked out great; I got a pedal power for 40 on ebay, and then the connectors I need, shipped to me, for twenty bucks. Some companies could have made doing something like that REALLY difficult.

Overall Rating : 10
I also own a sparkle drive and have played extensively on other models--I would say that overall voodoo labs is a really great company...the none of their pedals are the absolute best sounding out there, but most of them do pretty much exactly what you'd want them to do almost as well as similar models from fulltone or wherever that cost twice as much. And compared to the a lot of bigger companies, the customer service is excellent. For those on a budget, Highly Recommended.

This is one of the first Pedal Power boxes made. I only no this as I recently sent it to Digital Music for service. It's a power supply-plug your pedals in and play. It's dead quiet and over-engineered to last a long time.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I really don't think setup is relevant here-it will work with anything except pedals requiring any voltage besides 9 volts. I gig with it regularly and it has never let me down.

Reliability : 10
Yes it's reliable-it's built like tank. It uses a high quality transformer that is tapped and filtered at each leg to ensure utmost quality. If for it to totally die, you'd have to do something truly stupid-maybe like taking the cover off and spilling beer on the energized circuit.

Customer Support : 10
This is where this unit truly shines. Mine had an output go bad after a gig where a power surge took place. I sent the unit to Digital Music (after calling and requesting an RA number)for repair. I spoke with Josh and he informed me my pedal was one of the first 250 made and it was 8 years old! I had bought it four years ago at a local dealer and apparently it was new old stock. Josh replaced the innards and returned the unit FREE OF CHARGE! Pretty amazing considering it was out of warranty. These guys are first class. Try that with Roland or some other musical merchandise giant. Very friendly service on an outstanding product. Josh-YOU DA MAN!!!!

Overall Rating : 10
It's a great box and it does it's required funtion. I would definately buy another. As a Engineering Tech employed by Lockheed Martin working to military specs I know what good workmanship looks like and you can see it in any Voodoo Labs product. I would consider these guys to be the Mesa Engineering of the effects comunity-not cheesy commerical crap but yet not boutique, just high quality electronics for the working musician.I've played guitar for 20+ years and I'm very happy with this product. It's not cheap but anything worth having isn't. Not to say there aren't affordable options that are good (Godlyke Powerall) but I don't they will withstand the rigors of the working musician like a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power.

Ease of Use : 8
Its super simple to use. Provided all your pedals run off 9 volts. They only send six standard barrel contectors, so I had to order two more.

Sound Quality : 5
Here is where I bitch a little. Not many people notice as I do, but when you cahnge your power source, the sound quality of your effects change as well. I added a Furman Power Conditioner to my rig and that made a world of difference for my effects. After I purchased the Pedal Power 2 and plugged everything in, I was experiencing change in effects quality. Not nessecarily a bad one, but the effects seemed to not be as defined and bright. THey seemed to be a little more weak. It was great, I got zero hum or line noise, but the change in sound really messed with me. Especially my Morley Power wah pedal. SO tone freaks beware this unit MIGHT mess with your effects a bit. I run a PRS into a Tu-2 tuner, a morley power wah, a cs-3 compressor, an oc-2 octave, a vox volume, a ns-2 noise suppressor, into a Dual Rectifier Tremoverb. THrough the effects loop in run a Rotosphere, Phase Shifter,Super Phaser, DD-5 Delay, CE-5 Chorus, and a Holy Grail Reverb.

Reliability : No Opinion
Voodoo Lab makes great products from what little I know.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I called Voodoo because I needed to extra barrel connectors. They sent them right out free of charge. Thats customer service!!!

Overall Rating : 7
Its a good power supply. Is very flexible for working with various kinds of pedals. Price is a bit to much for a power supply. I wish the outputs delivered 200ma instead of only 100ma. Would probably help my effects sound better if it did.

Fairly easy to use. The only problem anyone would have is insuring that you have the correct DC power connector for your effects and have the right voltage selected with the DIP switches. The manual is pretty straight forward in helping you set it up. Mine is the original Pedal Power. I give it a 9 for ease of use as I had no problems at all. I'll reserve the 10 scores for something that's completely idiot proof (God knows they're out there in abundance).

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using this on my pedal board as I'm sure almost everyone else is. It's powering my Boss Comp., EQ, Marshall ShredMaster, MXR Phase 90, Micro Amp, TubeScreamer TS9 and my Loooper ByPass Switch. Each output is isolated so there is no hum or noise. I never had any noise from my battery powered effects so I don't know how much of a difference this makes. I guess if it was the Pedal Power 2, it may effect the sound because the PP2 has the sag feature that emulates dying batteries. So that one possible mark against has been fixed but it is of no concern to me because if I wanted dying batteries, I wouldn't have bought this pedal. I'll give it an 8 because it's a quality product that doesn't have a bad effect on your sound, whereas a bad product can easily affect your sound in a negative way.

Reliability : 10
I have had no problems with this at all. I have had it for about 2 years now and purposely waited to give an honest review on it.

Customer Support : 10
Here is where they shine. I had a dilemma with powering my MXR pedals because they have the DC jack on the side, right next to the input jack and I like to use the Pedal Crank type connectors between my Boss and MXR pedals. Well with the straight barrel DC connectors, the Pedal Cranks wouldn't insert all the way. I had heard that they would make custom cables for you if you needed them, so I called Digital Music Corp. (Voodoo Labs parent company) and asked if they could make me some barrel connectors with right angle plugs instead of straight ones. They said it would be no problem and they would be $10 each, which, to me is a very fair price for anything custom made. But they also have the DC connectors that hook up to the battery jack (PedalPower ships with 1 of these), so I asked how much if I just got 2 of these. The guy said he'd send them out no charge. I was amazed. That is the kind of company I would go out of my way to do business with. I've never used any of their other pedals but I will definitely give them a look if anything happens to my current gear.

Overall Rating : 9
The Pedal Power has made my life so much easier by not have to replace batteries all time. They would always die at the worst times. You know how you forget to unplug the input jacks of your effects and it drains your batteries eventually? Not anymore. I custom built my own pedalboard and put the PedalPower under the 2nd level shelf and I can route all the wires away from my cables so there is no interference.

Totally awesome addition to any rig!!! I reccomend anyone with more than 3 pedals get one of these!

Sound Quality : 10
This unit is totally quiet. I'm running 5 pedals and it keeps the hum to it's absolute minimum. The SKB pedal board sucks dirty goat ass. I am now just using it for the velcro.

Reliability : 10
I can totally depend on this. I would gig without a backup and i'd feel totally safe.

If it were stolen i'd surely get another one in a jiffy. I used the SKB pedalboard for awhile and that was a mistake. I'm using a custom pedal board built for me by Mike Pritchard (www.custompedalboard.com/index.html) and I am totally happy with my new rig, and it's all thanks to my new Voodoo Lab Pedal Power! awesome unit!!!

no buzz, no hum, no sound except the sound of my effects. just what i wanted!

it seems extremely well-built and hasn't given me any problems so far. i always have a few 9V batteries with me at gigs just in case.

Customer Support : 10
i called the Voodoo Lab twice to order some extra cables. John was super friendly and professional on the phone. the replacement cables were a little expensive ($3.50 each + $3.50 S&H) but i got a great deal on the unit so i didn't really mind...

Overall Rating : 10
i don't often use more than 3 effects (and a tuner) on my pedalboard at any given time but i still think the Pedal Power was a very worthwhile purchase. i'd recommend buying one, even to someone who only uses a few effects like i do!

Been playing 30+ years, and do all sorts of covers. I have tons of gear, but that's not really related to this product. Bottom line, if you like and use pedals, get one of these. You'll groan over the cost for the first week, then never think about it again. It's the best piece of gear I've bought in a long time. No pedal noise, battery costs, or setup problems.

You plug it in. You plug in pedals.. How much easier can it get? I don't have anything that can't be powered by this unit.

Sound Quality : 10
Ok.. It seemed unfair to give this thing a "No opinion", but it hasn't in any way shape or form affected tone. The power supply has produced no noice of any kind in any of my pedals. What more could you ask for? Nothing in my chain has ever reacted in a negative way to this device.

Reliability : 10
I've had mine for 6 months now and have gigged with it. No problems. I love this unit as I always found replacing batteries annoying. They (batteries) always die in the middle of a gig at at the wrong time. This power supply has given me one less thing to worry about. I do carry batteries in case it dies during a gig, but I don't worry about that happening

Customer Support : 10
I purchased backup cables (Ok, I back up everything, experience has taught me to do that) from their customer support people. No problems there. The unit hasn't acted in any way requiring me talking with their customer support .

Overall Rating : 10
I would buy another of these in an instant if it were lost or stolen. I probably will buy another as a backup, but I'm so not worried about the unit it is not high on my list of things to worry about. To me, that is as high a compliment as I can give.

This is an intelligently-built piece of equipment that while it produces no sound of its own, it helps me get better sounds out of my equipment by 1) eliminating hum 2) providing a reliable source of power--it hasn't failed me in over a year.

I like the way that the power cord is NOT built in, allowing me to pack the Pedal Power in a bag or box with no risk of the cord connection being damaged. The cord is the same type used for most computers and if lost or damaged, can be replaced for a few bucks.

The "courtesy outlet" on the Pedal Power is a plus, allowing me to plug in a non-9v effect such as a Digitech Whammy. The DIP switches allowing to switch to a Boss PSA-type adapter are another plus.

Sound Quality : 10
Like I said, the Pedal Power helps me make better sounds.

Reliability : 10
I have relied on my Pedal Power for over a year now. I build a pedal board from parts I got at Home Depot and I've got the Pedal Power velcro'd to it. It has yet to crap out in any way. The many provided adapters are of good quality. I have an old MXR Dyna Comp that I can't do without; I drilled a groove in the casing of it and am using the 9v battery adapter that came with the pedal power to replace a battery.

Customer Support : 10
Excellent support. This is a company that cares.

Overall Rating : 10
The Pedal Power is a great match for anyone who uses a lot of pedals that require 9v and use either the Boss barrell-type, 1/8", or battery adapters. It's a compact, reliable, quite unit that I would hate to do without, considering all the pedals I use.

Ease of Use : 10
The unit is very easy to use. BUT, you should read the informative manual in case you have pedals which require different voltages. You can very easily damage something without following this common sense.

Sound Quality : 10
It makes you effects much quieter than the SKB powered Pedalboard. The problem with the SKB pedal board is it is plasti and hollow with a few strenghtening ribs. If you take it apart and put foam in the hollow spaes it makes it much more rigid. And I use a wah pedal on this SKB board and it was flexing the board and the little circut boards inside were getting damaged. After I bought a new one I stiffened it with foam and it has work for a long time. SKB please read this. But I didn't want to take any chances so I use the SKB Pedalboard with the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power for the power. I like the SKB Pedalboard because it is lightweight and has the carrying bag. A custom pedalboard with a lid can be heavy and more expensive.

Reliability : 10
It is a very heavy duty housing and heavy in weight. I would and will gig without a backup. Only due to the cost. If it was lie $80 new I might buy another. But you pay for quality sometimes and this unit looks like I'll have for a long time without a problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
neve had to deal with them but they give you plenty of info in the product on what to do if you have a problem.

Overall Rating : 10
I love this thing and would reccommend it to any one using the SKB pedalboards power supply. The SKB can quit on you at any time, even when you treat it with care like I did. I went through 3 of them and I don't have all the adapters for all of my pedals so I was out of luck. And SKB wants you to ship it back and then fix and ship it back to you. They must have hired temp help to fix the warehouse full of these things they get back. If stolen I would go buy another.

Not a no brainer, you should read the manual, which is quite good and informative, to prevent damaging your pedals or the unit from misuse. It has 8 9v jacks, and a 200 watt outlet, as well as 8 dip switches to change from reg 9v to a slightly higher voltage for certain boss pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
Well it doesnt make any sound, which is exactly why I am giving it a ten. No hum, no buzz, no nothing, just silent efficiency.

Reliability : 10

I play mostly rock, the blues and alternative. I power a myriad of pedals with this thing, including a fulltone fulldrive II tr100, a way huge aquapuss, and a crybaby wah to name a few. It comes with all kindsa cords, 5 longer barrel types, 2 mini jacks, and a battery clip. You can also order more cables of you need them. I bought it cause it was pretty much the only one on the market, and I must say I am very very pleased, no more rats nest!

If you run a bunch of pedals that need batteries, BUY THIS UNIT IMMEDIATELY! What with the exhorbitant price of batteries, this thing will pay for itself in a matter of months. You will never worry about batteries running down again. If you miss the "decaying battery soud", then just put a battery in your TS-8! The Pedal Power is a godsend and I would replace it immediately if it disappeared.

This is an excellent power supply. Just plug cables and power cords into the pedals and you're set. It can power up 8 pedals and comes with 8 cords:5 barrel-type(boss style), 2 male(I have no idea what anyone would use these with) and one 9v battery-clip.

Sound Quality : 10
Well, this really doesn't produce any sound, just powers your pedals, but does it very well. Silent and hum free, the way it should be. My pedal setup is as follows: Morley ABY switch(A) to a Boss DS-1, PQ-4, Tech 21 XXL to amp A, then Morley ABY Switch(B) to DOD Envelope Filter, Dano Daddy-O, BF-2, MXR Phase 90,Dano Cool Cat, Ibanez DE-7 to amp B. This setup sounds awesome, at least in my opinion. The only problem is that I had to order 2 more barrel connectors. But other than that, great pedal. Also, you probably are wondering, I have 10 pedals. THe Pedal Power supplies to 8. Well, I have two adapters for my Cool Cat 'cause it's 18v and then just 9v adapter to my PQ-4.

Reliability : 10
Built like a tank. Very heavy and durable. Will last a while.

It doesn't make any sound, which it is supposed to. It only makes my setup easier to use, and my effects quieter.

These things are built better than Boss pedals for gods sake. These are perfect for the traveling musician, who needs something to power their pedal board

Customer Support : 10
I have just e-mailed them to see how they will respond. They are very small company that makes awesome products, I bet they are very good. They offer extra plugs if you need more, and they have a 5 year warrenty, can't go wrong

ITs a lot of money, for just a power supply but it is worth it. Fortunetly I got it for a birthday present, so I could enjoy without opening the check book. I have about 5-6 stomp boxes, and it is perfect for use with all of them. YOU COULD POWER ANYTHING WITH THIS LITTLE BOX. If it was stolen, I would find it, cluck the guy who stole it over the head, with this strong box. The only things that I don't like about it is, that it is very heavy, not enough cables to start with, and it can't go past 9volts, but other than that its perfect.

If there has ever been a better example of the expression, "plug and play," I'd love to know where. Pedal Power fits under the second level of my NGM Custom Pedalboard perfectly to power all my effects that don't already have AC plugs. Works like a dream and not a bit of noise!

Sound Quality : 10
As I said, the Pedal Power is noiseless. There are switches on the underside for adjusting the voltage for PCA/ASA Boss type pedals, very useful for you old Boss pedal fans. Each plug is 100% isolated and short-circuit protected as to provide the quietest and safest quality.

Reliability : 10
It's kinda hefty, but hey, it's a transformer in a case...what do you expect. I've had it for six months, and so far it hasn't given out of me yet, I don't believe that it would either.

Can't be beat. Plug in those effects, plug the power supply for the Pedal Power into the wall, and let it rip! Also, don't forget to flip the little voltage switches on the underside of the unit accordingly--I just happen to use a Boss Super Phaser, and this thing powers it, no prob! Also, the Voodoo Lab literature is very clearly written. I'm a mechanical klutz and don't know squat about this stuff, and even I could figure out the subtleties without any hassles.

Sound Quality : 9
I give it a 9, only because I wish it had a built-in "sag" control so that I could get my silly tube screamer to sound like it was operating on a half-dead 9-volt battery...but other than that, it's a terrific unit that really helps reduce some of the hum. I'm running my guitar's signal (usually single coil pickups) thru a Crybaby Wah => original Ibanez TS9 => Ibanez DE7 delay => Boss PH2 => my stinkin Boogie DC5. The Pedal Power does not seem to work with my Korg G4 Leslie Simulator. The Korg power supply says 9 Volts, so maybe I need one of those special cables that Voodoo Lab mentions in their manual (and other reviewers have mentioned below)...or maybe I shouldn't mess w/it, because the G4 is no longer being made and I don't want to kill the thing. Overall, this unit kicks ass, and it's worth the $150 I plopped down for it. Wish it were a tad more affordable, but the bottom line is I can't afford to be left in the lurch onstage, and I hate fussing with batteries. Besides, it makes setup a breeze, and I like the fact that there are no AC adapter "wall warts".

Reliability : 10
No problems whatsoever. Yet. The unit is very sturdy and will probably last forever.

Customer Support : 10
Quick & personable responses to emails. No BS. Very pleased here, especially because this is a small company and I understand how busy these guys must be. Still, they took the time out to answer my piddlin' questions!

Overall Rating : 9
If this thing vanished on me, I would definitely buy another. The only reason it gets a 9 is that I'd like some more control over the voltage, if possible. Us guitarists are hard to please, I guess. This is a well-made piece of equipment, and it's nice that something like this is widely available. I've been grappling with power problems for years, so it's good to have a quality solution that's somewhat affordable.

No noise at all with the MXR Dyna Comp, Maxon Analog Delay, Boss EQ, and Boss TU-2 Stage Tuner I power. The power produced from this unit does make an impact, but only with certain pedals I have used. The Dyna Comp sounds best if not run directly off the power supply. (I shunt a line off the second power port on the Boss TU-2 Tuner.) This seems to "warm" the Dyna Comp up a bit. *NOTE: Voodoo Lab should consider one or two power outputs with fully adjustable power controls. (A knob that could be turned to reduce power from 9volts to 8.5, 8.0, 7.5 etc.) I know this unit has micro switches that change voltage output, but more options on voltage would be a help.

Unit seems to be very well made. (Heavy steel case.) I should have no problems with this product.

Just plug the power cable in and connect the small cables to your pedals. Although the barrels are a bit longer than most pedals use, they fit well and if you pin/tie the small cables down as I do, you shouldn't have any problems. It doesn't get any easier to use than this unit! Although, the manual does mention something about polarities and if you're not completely sure, a Voodoo Lab tech can answer your questions (please read down at customer support).

The pedals that I'm powering with this are: Fulltone Fulldrive 2, Fulltone Clyde Wah, Boss GE-7, Tech 21 Tri-OD, and Ibanez TS-7. I will be adding the Visual Sound Jekyll & Hyde to the list soon and I've been told be another Pedal Power user that it's going to work fine.

I have not noticed the noise as some of the others stated (I only hear the noise that I usually hear with my equipment). And I have not notice a difference in tone from my pedals (theoretically, even different batteries should affect a pedal such as the Fulldrive 2). I give the unit a 10 in this catagory only because of the lack of noise so far (obviously not because it produces pleasant sounds).

Reliability : No Opinion
I've only had it for a few days. It uses a metal casing and it seems very durable. I can't rate this catagory... it's too soon to tell (maybe after I've gigged with it for a few months I can judge better).

This is what I really wanted to mention in my review. After reading the manual and checking my Fulltone pedals, I was very confused and thought that I might need the "reversed" cables (which can be ordered straight from Voodoo Lab). I posted a question at the guitar forum and sent email to Voodoo Lab. Josh at Voodoo lab answered me once from the forum and another from email - both assuring me that I won't need the special cables (which are $10 a piece - as he stated, very costly for something that I won't need). The replies were timely and extremely helpful. It's this sort of support that would persuade me to purchase other products from company.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, I'm very happy. This allows me to build my own pedal board because now I can leave me pedal set up without worry about batteries being drained (in fact, I've taken all the batteries out of the pedals). I save a lot of time from setting up the pedals and tearing them apart again.

If you use as many pedals as I do, even at $130-150, the unit will pay for itself in time just in batteries. And it's very versatile - being able to power so many different units. The package comes with 6 regular barrel cables, 1 with a male connector (tip) and another with a 9V battery type connector.

Very easy to use and configure. Decent manual. Would've like to see fully variable control of each output voltage so I could see how various voltages affect my OD pedals. Hey, you can't have everything (at least not for $137).

Sound Quality : 10
The questions of just how much a power supply affects one's tone is highly subjective (Eric Johnson and Mike Fuller claim that they can hear differences in batteries).
I'm using the SKB PS-25 pedal board with an assortment of Boss "ACA" and Fulltone pedals. The Pedal Power is a must-have for anyone using ACA type Boss pedals. They will work adequately with the stock SKB wall wart but will sound noticably better with the Pedal Power.
Pedal power is dead quiet. It's essential for getting that last 10% of great tone out of your pedals (IMHO). BTW, the last 10% is always the hardest and most costly in my experience.

Reliability : No Opinion
No first hand experience, but I bought it primarily because I felt it would be more reliable than the stock SKB wall wart.

Because the Overall Rating is a value rating, I'm going to award a medoicre score primarily because I think this unit is just too darned expensive. I think list is a whopping $229; most of the street prices are $179 or so. In fact, cost is the number one reason I didn't buy one sooner.
However, about a month ago my pedal board inexplicably stopped working at a gig (actually refused to work at all). It appeared to have power, but my guess is maybe not enough power or some wierd power-up problem with my Boss TU-2 tuner (stuck in bypass???). I never did diagnose the problem (it has worked fine since). However, this was a high-profile gig (The Roxy in Hollywood, CA). I decided to remove power supply troubles from the equation.
I finally found a great price on this unit from J&S Music Center (www.jsmusic.com) in Emmaus, PA. $137 shipped 3 day air to my door in CA. Listen, $50 difference in price is significant (at least to me). Talk to Josh at J&S. They were terrific.
Again, I'm totally satisfied with the Pedal Power, the score just reflects the excessive list/street prices on this thing from most folks.

The manual provides all the information you need to plug-in-and-go. I took about 5 minutes to read through the manual, then hooked up my effects. Up to eight effects can be hooked up, assuming you have all the necessary connectors. (Eight connectors are included - five 'Boss' type, two 'male' type, one 9-volt converter). This didn't pose a problem for me, however additional connectors can be ordered from Voodoo Lab, if necessary.

Sound Quality : 10
I run my guitar into a Visual Sound BB1 --> EB Volume --> Arion stage tuner --> Voodoo Lab Bosstone --> Stamps Drive-O-Matic --> Whirlwind Commander --> send loop (via Whirlwind) --> Dan-O Cool Cat --> Ibanez PH5 --> Boss Tremolo --> Boss Delay --> return loop --> Carvin MTS amp.
With the exception of the Visual Sound BB1 (which only takes batteries) and the EB Volume (N/A), all of the effects above are powered by the Pedal Power. The noise difference in going from 9-volt battery to the Pedal Power is hardly noticable, and it sure beats changing batteries every other day. There is absolutely NO hum produced by this power unit.

Reliability : 10
I've only had it a few months, but based on other Voodoo Lab products I've owned, it should last forever.

I previously owned a SKB pedalboard (w/onboard power supply), and it was absolutely AWFUL. The Pedal Power unit works perfectly. No question, I would buy this again.

I have read some concerns over the length of the connectors. Frankly, I don't see the problem. Once your pedalboard is put together, the cables should never get anywhere close to coming undone, especially at a gig. I just wish that all eight of the supplied cables were the same (double-barreled) type. Three of the supplied cables were worthless to me, and I ended up making three of my own to complete the pedalboard project. (Which by the way, is not a bad idea anyway. I could tailor the lenght of my own cables to exactly what I needed.)

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using all Ibanez Power Series pedals - wah, compressor, eq, phaser, flanger, digital delay and chorus - along with a reissue Tube Screamer and a Boss TU12H tuner. Absolutely no noise, and my effects sound better than ever.

Reliability : 10
I'm very happy with this unit. I want to get another one for some of the newer effects I've bought lately, such as some Danelectro stuff.

Customer Support : 8
Because the company was moving at the time, I was unable to order extra cables from them. I ended up making some myself. They did, later on, sell me a dual cable for my Danelectro Cool Cat and the phone service was fine.

A followup to my earlier post: 1) Per Voodoo Labs techs, the barrel connectors are by design longer than the ones on Boss adapters or what one might be used to. Apparently a few manufacturers utilize deeper jacks in their pedals which require the longer length connector, so Voodoo decided to use all longer barrels rather than try to guess if a customer would have the need for one. SO...if you're running typical (Boss, Ibanez etc) stuff you will have barrels protruding from the pedal jacks, or you can make your own cables using the shorter barrel design if the appearance of the long ones really bugs you. I do incidentally have a new Budda wah which ironically is the first pedal I've seen which requires this longer barrel connector, and believe it or not, this great wah runs quietly on the Pedal Power! So the unit deserves really high marks for sound quality there. Also, per Josh Fiden at Voodoo, there is a hum at 120 mhz in their Analog Chorus pedal when run off electric power adapters including the Pedal Power, and they have a fix for it and will upgrade interested Chorus owners for free.

Reliability : No Opinion
Still not totally convinced that the longer barrels won't disengage accidentally...time will tell...I may build a few cables of my own...

So far so good...

Probably the best available as Mike Fuller is no longer building his Black Box power supplies....

Plug it in, plug in patch cables to pedals. However, the barrels on the barrel connectors do not fit entirely into the jacks on either the unit itself or the pedals I'm using. I have to wonder if this is by design, or do I have a bad set of cables? If intentional, why? They carry power okay but do not have the "snug fit" one looks for when connecting cables, and are easier to accidentally disengage than they should be. FYI, I 'm using an Ibanez Tubescreamer, Boss Digital Delay, Boss TU12, etc, so nothing exotic that might account for the weird fit...

Sound Quality : 7
The unit is definitely noisier than when running effects off a battery. I certainly expected at least Voodoo's own pedals (I'm running Voodoo Analog Chorus, Tubescreamer, Boss DD-3) to be whisper quiet based on the marketing description of the pedal power's design...
Nothing is perfect, but I do honestly think given the price point and marketing claims of this unit that it should not have these negative attributes.

Reliability : 5
I haven't had it long but the way the barrel connectors fit (or don't fit) is a major concern to me as stated above.

Customer Support : 2
Josh Fiden was very helpful and responsive when I emailed him with some questions on the unit prior to purchasing. He has not responded (yet?) to a recent email voicing these questions/concerns...

Need some answers before answering this; otherwise I'll be returning it.
