Love this amp the sound is so powerful and once ur mess around with it its easy to get to kno the computer and mimick the sounds u want out of it. Manual was good from wat i rember went through all of the contorls on the amp ect...

Sound Quality : 10
I use a vriaty of guitars with this amp including a traveler speedster and a epi dot and a LP also... the amp is great has some real meat behind it if u search for it for a bit... the effects in the computer r pretty sweet and fun to mess with the only thing with them is the reverb dosent have its own knob but besides that its cool

Reliability : 8
I would completly depend on this amp never had any problems with it its solid as a rock

I Play alot of Blues and Classic rock and its great for my style because u can go throuh the different effects and amp combos to get a nearly endless possibilities...if it were lost or stolen id get another one i really like the varity of sounds the amp gives...I love the sound of i its strong and u can get pretty much anything u want out of it. only thing i dont like is the reverb is in the effects instead on the dial board but thats no big deal... great amp for the price i personally love the sound of vox amps

Takes a while to learn how to dial in a really good sound. Overall though, the controls are fairly straightforward. In respect to the build-in effects, the manual is good at explaining how to use them. Saving your own presets is really easy, though the limit of 2 can be kind of annoying.

Sound Quality : 9
My setup is simple: Epiphone LP Alpine Whiite Custom through a variety of effects (including a rat distortion, an eq, ts-9 clone, chorus, delay, reverb) straight to the amp. Those boxes are really quiet so I have no need to run anything through a loop. And now for the amp:

Sound: There are maybe 4-5 amp models that are REALLY good, with the others just being OK. These good models include the Blackface 2x12, Tweed 4x12, AC30, Boutique OD, and in some cases the UK Modern. Obviously some might find the other models useful, but for me these are the only ones they use. The blackface is just beautiful - clean tone to die for and can get a really nice cranked tone out of it.
The only downside to the amp is that - although this is also a good thing - it really pumps out the bass. The back is closed so this thing resonates like mad. A more configurable EQ would have been nice.

Effects: They're all digital. Fun to play with. The phaser is particularly gross. But then again you aren't buying this amp for those, are you?

10 for the 5 great amp models, -1 for the crazy bassiness.

It hasn't done anything weird on me yet. It's built like a tank. It's fallen over plenty of times and still kicking. If it fell down the stairs, I would probably be more concerned for the floor when it hit the bottom than for the amp itself (though I am careful with my gear, so... I hope i never have to see that happen).

It gets a 9 because I haven't had enough experience abusing it to award it a 10. If it's still around in 10 years then I'll know :D

Never dealt with them. Sure they would be helpful.

I play lots of rock - specifically oriented around 90s alternative (bands that were once considered grunge, then moved away from that scene) ie. Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sonic Youth... And then some prog rock, ie. Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree.
This amp is great for the style of music I play. I can get pretty much any tone I want out of it - given enough time to mess with the various amp models and fine-tuning the EQ.

I've been playing for just under 3 years. I was using a crap practice amp for about 2 years and moved up to this. Wanted to get a bit of tube sound for a bit less $ - I think this is a good balance.

If it were lost or stolen, if I had the cash for a nice all-tube amp I might consider that. Otherwise I would definitely buy another one.

Overall, just a solid amp. There are a few flaws, but I think the cost and the solid amp models it has outweigh those.

It's a pretty straight-forward amplifier, though some of the effect controls are a bit questionable. Nothing you can't learn through a little bit of fiddling. Generally, it's as easy as selecting your amp model, dialing in your EQ and gain settings, then grabbing what effect, if any, that you want. I like the bypass button, which allows you to pull the effects out of the mix.

This is where the Valvetronix AD50VT shines. I was intending to buy an amp that didn't have any bells or whistles, just a good sound. However, there wasn't a single amp in the price range that held up to the sound of the AD50VT. My favorite settings are the Tweed 4x10 and the Blackface 2x12. Very bluesy, but they clean up nicely for a good chimey sound.

This amp loves overdrive, whether its own or from another source. I run two TS7 Tubescreamers in conjunction with one another, and this amp loves every minute of it. It is so smooth, with just a dash of color. If you're looking for a good tone for rock or blues, or you want that "Fab" tone for Beatles stuff, this amp is right up your alley. It has everything I need, and the tone is so sweet and full of life. I've played through some pretty nice amps, but this one is about the best in its price range.

This amp is easily loud enough for small club gigs and the like. It's definitely versatile enough to get the job done, as well.

I've had some good luck with Vox amps in the past, so I'm confident that the AD50VT will hold up okay.

Never dealt with Vox...

I've been playing for about 14 years now, and I feel like I've got a good idea in my head as to what I consider good tone. This amp, to my ear, has a fantastic tone that takes to effects and finger tone well. Your mileage may vary, but the AD50VT has the sweetest tone in its price range, to my ear. I'm extremely satisfied with it as a live performing amp as well as a recording tool. Excellent sound, excellent value, excellent amp.

Its pretty easy to get a good sound of it. Though i dont really know how the preset works. The manual is ok.

Sound Quality : 10
I using a pretty cheap Ibanez grg170dx and i using mostly for metal and the dist is very good if u know how to tweak the settings. I have amp model on "nu metal" and treble on 70 % and middle 0& and bass on 100%. It give's the amp a real heavy and sweet dist. On clean channel i use chorus reverb with single coil pick-up who gives it a real clean tone but with alot of bass.

Generally pretty easy although you need to take some time to set up each programmable channel.

Because the controls do different things with different amp models it isn't always as obvious as it might at first seem. However, don;t think it is complex because it really isn't.

Also note that the controls are on top rather than on the front which if using the amp on an angled amp stand as backline makes them a bit difficult to access. A typical Vox 'problem'...

My only gripe is that the reverb effect is not separate from other effects. So, 90% of the time you will want reverb regardless of what other settings you use - but using the footpedal it is switched on & off with other effects, not very good...

Apart from that, a fantastic amp! Tried a whole range before going for this & never regretted the choice once!

Sound Quality : 8
Sound quality is fantastic if you take the time to program the recordable channels. I have one set to a clean blues, the second set to a mild overdrive & the third warm sound with tremolo.

the valve gives a great warm rich sound & it is plenty loud enough for smaller gigs. The main challenge is making sure it cuts through.

I use it with a tele & various pedals. For OD I use a Boss OD1 rather than an amp model on the but there are plenty to choose from.

When gigging I play a range of sounds from rock to ballads & it does the lot!

Reliability : 10
Been fine so far. Seems pretty robust - I especially like the metal front grill whcih gives some protection to the speaker.

I've had mine for 6 months with a problem but then you wouldn't expect to ...

If stolen I'd replace it with the same without hesitation - I might consider the AD30VT but only because of size/weight - more than happy with the amp.

Are any amps hard to use? It's all there in front of you. It has a preset and manual channel and two channels you can program. You have to read the book about the amps, as the knobs didn't exist on some of the models, so certain knobs are neutral and sometimes the gain is a volume knob etc. It has an edit knob and tap button to set parameters of the effects and a bypass button. There's an optional footswitch for the two channels and the option to have either the manual or bypass on the other button. Buy the footswitch, it's essential.

Sound Quality : 8
The sounds are actually quite good for a built in model. The sound does vary a lot depending on the amp model you're on. I don't think that is based on reality. But it does mean you can get a wide range of sounds just from one effect setting. Somewhere in all that lot, you'll get the sound you want. Some amp models do sound very strange on some settings. The amp isn't noisy but once again, it depends on what amp model you're on. The closest amp setting to a totally clean monitoring setting is the AC15. The gain seems to have to be on a little bit on them all, which is a pain. This makes getting a clean sound on most of the amp models a non-starter.
But if you find a pre-set you like, clean or heavy, you have the facility to be able to read the settings which is good.
Without doubt, this amp is meant to be used as an effects amp and not as a manual amp. But that's fairly obvious because you buy it with all those effects. I think they could have made the manual side of it a bit better.

Reliability : 7
Two problems I've read about and which I've experienced are not major although one can cause a fright. The guitar input jack comes loose and slides into the amp. This is a known fault so keep your nut tight on that jack.
The other is it's digital brain. It sometimes muddys the sound. A quick flick of a knob corrects this but you can tell it sometimes gets lost a bit. Others have had this quirk.
Other than that, it works well.

A good 8 because the sounds, which is what you buy it for, are quite good. Nothing beats a good pedal but you can get good sounds. You can get all you want, with not too much hassle. The presets are actually quite good too, which is a first.
I'd buy the ad30vt if I was buying again. This is just big without being a 100watts, so no real point.

Bought mine from the GC about a year ago. I figured that Valve/solid state technology had finally caught up to itself and there were some good amps being produced. Went with this bad boy because the thing screamed with a fender strat plugged strait into it. Editing patches takes some getting use to, but its alright and the 50watt has celestion speakers.

Sound Quality : 8
The Sound of this amp is pretty rocking. What attracted me to it is the fact that is runs the gamut of any tone you want. You can go strait up blues or slam some heavy distortion and wail. I run a Mexican Strat strait into it with no effects, which brings up an interesting query. I find that putting stomp boxes infront of the amp ruins the sound. The only way to play this thing is strait into it. Also when switching channels, unless your maxed on the wattage, there is significant volume loss. So you have to be careful, because you can be shredding in a death metal song and then switch to a clean sound and not even hear it. Effects are OK, Delay is fairly decent and reverb leaves little to be admired, but I use it only to get an Idea for a sound, When I play live i use a super reverb.

Reliability : 8
Fell over many times in the back of my van, no problems yet.

Haven't dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
The whole reason I bought it was to get as many different sounds as possible. Ive only been playing for about five-six years and haven't been able to really find a kind of music I really like to play. With this amp I don't have to worry, I can play my blues stuff or hard rock, and some metal. Its no replacement for a true tube amp and when I have access to an original black face Super Reverb or Princeton Reverb I play those. The louder this thing goes the better it sounds. But if it broke I would move on up to a true tube amp and get my effects though pedals.

Features : 9
Great features but one thing i would really like is an effects loop which would really help get the best out of my pedals. The valve reactor thing is a really cool idea and certainly works! I'm 14 without a job or anything so i really can't afford to buy all the amps and pedals it's based upon, so this is great for me at the moment.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup is:
Gibson Les Paul Studio->wah->bad monkey overdrive->marshall regenerator->snarling dogs A/B selecter with A going to the vox and B going to an old peavey classic 20.

This really sounds AMAZING especially when i look at how much i paid for it! I love being able to save two presets and also using the manual setting as a third channel. It really sounds like a tube amp but of course doesn't sound exactly like the real thing cranked up.

Reliability : 2
The reliability sucks, this is my third one of these and is playing up again so it'll mean number 4 or a similar amp. It'd be great if anyone has any suggestions for fairly cheap valve amps. My first amp had a problem with the power level control, so when it reached a certain point there was a really nasty high pitched squealing sound. This was sorted out with another amp, but this soon messed up half way through when iwas playing! There was a really horrible loud humming noise and no guitar sound at all. The really scary thing was that if it was left on for a bit it had a really nasty electrical burning smell. Now I've got my third one of these and I've got the same problem with the power level as i had on my first one. It's REALLY pissing me off.

Customer Support : 10
i spoke to Vox at the London guitar show and they were really helpful and said to go back to the shop and there sorted another one out for me. When I had the fault with the second amp, I rang Vox Tech Support and the guy was helpful. I'm going to ring Vox Tech tomorow when i get home from school and talk about the problem with my current one. who knows, maybe they will be kind enough to sort me out with an upgrade!

Overall Rating : 7
I've been playing for 4ish years and used to have a marshall MG50dfx which never let me down for two or three years. I also have two Peavey amps, one is a Rage 158 and the other one of the old Classic 20s.These also havn't let me down once. The Vox valvtronix amps are great sounding and great value for money but I really don't think it's acceptable to be having so many faults with them. I really don't want to have to change to another amp as this is perfect for me, but I think I might have to.

fairly simple but quite difficult to edit effects parameters.

my set up is:
lespaul-wah-bad monkey overdrive-marshall regenerater-vox AD50

it can cover every style and sound i can think of. it's so good sounding and also sounds good at higher volumes which is nice for a modelling amp.

Reliability : 2
im on my THIRD one which now has another fault. its really annoying and im not sure about getting another one of these. the first fault i had was with the power level control on the back panel, when i reached a certain point there was a nasty high pitched squealing sound. ok, got my 2nd one which worked fine for a week before there was no guitar signal coming through and i could only hear a really loud humming sound. the worrying thing was after a bit there was a electrical burning smell coming from it...i didn't really want to put it on again after that. now i'm on my third one of these and it was all ok for a couple hours but now i've got the same fault that happened on amp 1. has anyone got any suggestions for a similar sort of amp?

Customer Support : 10
when i rang vox tech support they were very helpful and tried to help.

Overall Rating : 6
this amp is great for me as i'm 14 and can't really afford to buy the huge and expensive collection of amps and pedals this amp tries to recreate, it has great features and awesome sounds. the reliability is terrible and really frustrating having to take trips down to PMT and ringing vox and PMT all the time.
