If you can't figure out how to use this pedal then you aren't smart enough to even be playing guitar!! Step on the front to switch on, rock back and forth to get the wah sound. Instructions pretty good, and in a number of languages, which is good as well.

i used to use a dunlop gcb95 crybaby and i have to say that the vox for me is better. it's just a bit sweeter in the top end than the crybaby, and I'd say the sweep is more focused on the top end than a crybaby. i use this with a fulltone fulldrive, fulltone mini deja vibe, ehx memory man through an '84 4-input marshall jcm800 with a les paul. I play blues rock and classic rock and for these styles this pedal is perfect. Just ask hendrix, clapton, SRV and Joe bonamassa! Not really for metalheads though. And I certainly can't hear any tone suck or signal loss so i don't know what people are complaining about.

Seems very well built to me. Yes,it's made in China but who gives a damn? Built just as solidly as my old crybaby was and that was USA made. Go figure.

For blues rock and classic rock this pedal is just about perfect. I'd have another one any day, but i doubt i'd need to replace it! And come on, there aren't many better-looking wahs out there....

Very vocal sounding wah with lots of character.
Very, very slight loss of tone. There is a bypass mod here:

Overall a nice sounding wah.

The V847-A reviewed here was straight out of the box new. Signal chain: Fender Lite Ash Strat > Earnie Ball Volume Jr > Vox V847-A > Arion Chorus > Burris Boostiest > Bogner Duende. The unit is well built and the finish is good. I opened up the back (where the battery goes) and the wiring/soldering was clean. I plugged it in first and then played it a bit trying to find the sweep's sweet spot and discover the range. I found that the sweet spot was a little too far back in the pedal so I adjusted the gears to move it forward. The frequency sweep was in such a tight range that once you got through it there really wasn't much happening. IMHO the sweet spot was too tight and small. If I moved the pedal too quickly the frequency shift was so dramatic it sounded like there was a glitch in the pot. I owned a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe before and it's range was much smoother and more evenly distributed.
I also noticed my overdrive channel sounded off, kinda harsh even with the wah switched off. I unplugged the wah and the magic was back. This pedal has serious tone suck.
I'm sure the full bypass mod would correct the tone suck, but short of replacing the pot, there was nothing to be done for the sweep range being too tight. The pedal had no adjustments inside or out. It is what it is. Too bad because I had read some flattering reviews. Well, this is going back to Guitar Center tomorrow.

Looks like it's well built and VOX has a good reputation. I won't have mine long enough to find out.

I play rock, jazz, and blues and have been playing for 35 years. Currently play for lifechurch.tv at their South Tulsa Campus. Come by, check it out, it's not what you'd expect.
I've owned lots of gear and now I'm working on distilling down to the essentials. IMO, a wah is essential. Comparing this to the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe, the Fulltone wins. The VOX would be greatly improved if there was a way to tweak the frequency sweep range.

It's a wah pedal, so you just rock back and forth, and groove with the tunes...
The part of the manual that tells you how to use it is like a sentence, because wah pedals are so easy that a caveman can do it! Easier than Geico, actually...

Schecter Diamond Series Gryphon guitar (intermediate 400 dollars)
Monster Rock 21 foot cable to amp, then i'm running this through the effects loop with two Live Wire Advantage series 10 foot cables, and amp is Peavey Valveking 112 combo.
This is the Black Sabbath all the way to Jimi wakka wakka sound.
Only bad thing is the high frequency is a little too piercing, so i don't go past 70% pushed forward (I like it bassier anyway, for that nice tube "breakup" sound).
EXTREMELY SLIGHTLY noticeable tone suck, just the TINIEST bit, not annoying me at all, so i'll just hold the true bypass mod, cuz it's not bothering me at all.
Only thing better than this is a Fulltone or comparable, because, well, it's a Fulltone and i'm 15 and not ready for those boutique high quality pedals that i don't trust myself with.

Yeah, the pot is heavy, thick, die-cast steel, and i've already jumped on it with all my weight (140lbs haha), and nothing i mean NOTHING happened. In the long run, with good care, it would last many, many years.
I already gig without backups for anything im a teenager haha...but i do gig i'm in a band that mixes metal, punk, and, yes, classical orchestration of guitar parts (harmonies and stuff). Ray Toro got me into that kind of thinking, and next pedal on my list is the Electro-Harmonix POG.

Haven't dealt with them, but i'm sure they're nice, i mean, it's Vox, they know what they're doing. I just speak with a nice tone of voice on the phone and everyone loves me.

my style is blues to metal, but don't use this for metal use a dunlop for that (but who in their right mind uses wah for metal? c'mon, only John Petrucci can pull that off and he uses a dunlop haha).
I have been playing 5 years, and regularly listen to all kinds of music except for anything not in english, country, and rap (which...isn't music).
This site is great for doing your homework and making an ultimate decision on what to buy, so i want to help more people make their decisions.
Overall, I'm very satisfied for the money, and with the money not a factor.

At first I really had to step on it to get it to work and now its easy. Its a wah pedal, just step on it and lean, its not that hard, I get a great sound out of it.

I use a Les Paul Custom and a Behringer GMX212 with an MXR distortion + and it sounds great with distortion running through it. If you leave it on to where the frequency gets higher and you put the mxr dis+ on you get an amazing Crazy Train tone.

It's a wah, just step on it and go. Only this piece of crap wouldn't work unless you pushed the switch with your finger. Poorly adjusted for being brand new. V847A, emphesis on the "A". It's a new version with an A.C. adapter jack. Also, this thing is now made in CHINA! VOX? CHINA? PLEASE!

This thing sounds like a Morley. Morley's sound good mind you, they are a different breed, but this says Vox, it should sound like one, DUH!

Like I said, you couldn't activate it with the pedal, the switch needed to be raised up in the body. Also it had this cheap pot that grinded and had to much resistance mechanically and the pedal hold down strap was also too tight.

Using it with clean sound it??s quite easy to handle!
With gain turned up high it??s more like on/off, too tiny area to control the sweep.
Give it a 5 since I??ve not tried any other wah-pedal. 8 for the clean sound, 2 for the overdriven sound ability.

Distortion sound was disappointing!
Clean sound, good!
Don??t know about the spec but there can??t be a true bypass... It drains your tone and life, just a little too much! Not much, but the spark of it! Did a recording test, aside from decreasing the glow it also shaved off 1dB compared to the tone without the pedal.
Not that noisy, just some when in highest range! Wish for more silence but can??t ask for more since this is my first wah, maybe noise comes with the business.
I??ve tried it with my Vox Cambridge 15W(clean and highly overdriven), and my Genesis3 to board(only clean jazzy sound), no other pedals!
7 for the clean sound ability, when recording or if you stay in wah mode all the time!

Played a lot, though no gigging... Very picky, and I like sound/style of Garcia/Greatful Dead, some of Zappa, and clean jazzy sound!
I wouldn??t miss it that much if it was stolen. I wish for any mods to make it descent with distortion, like buffering the output, I think. And I want a true bypass. If you have any links, it would be appreciated, the layout of the V847A seems to be very different to other V847, despite the manufacturer claims it is the exact specifications of the early models???

Maybe I??m ignorant but I thought there would be the original tone somewhere in the sweep range, I can??t find it! Dull at the bottom and then "artificial" at mid and high! A nice wah-sound, when working the pedal with a clean tone, though!
Maybe autowah is my game, made some nice playing and soumd with my Genesis3!
