Ease of Use : 9
With manual really easy to use.
Without manual maybe a little confusing at first, but once you
checked the routine,it is also simple to use without manual.
Nevertheless manual is recommended, because it explains, what this
device is able to,besides its main "Filterfunction".

Sound Quality : 10
The overall soundquality is amazing and high class. One of the best
24dB LowPass Filters ever made.It is analog and warm.
Originally developed for the synthfreaks, this device is famous for
guitar.A touch wah,via Midi a Wah Wah,via LFO or external input a kind
of Monsterstepfilter,an envelope follower,a Noise Gate or a compressor
a panner,a pseudo Ringmodulator,a signal to Midi converter,a panner
and so on and on.
The 4Pole can be used and routed in an unbeliveable way.And this in
an easy way.
The main function is the Filter.and what a great Filter this is.
24dB LowPass with Resonance.Resonance can be so strong, that the
Filter selfoscilates and produces a audible Sinewave.Great.

The other functions are also great.Amplitudemodulation/Ringmodulation.
The very flexible and complex ModulationMatrix etc...

If you have this one,you will throw away all your little stompbox
Filterdevices.

Reliability : 10
Waldorf has a high quality approach. This one is made for centuries.

They have always an open ear.

Overall Rating : 10
One of this few things wich I would never give away and I would fight
fo until my last breath.(Maybe a little to dramatic)

Recommendable for evryone who is looking for a superb Filter.
You need only a Touch Wah ? Get it ! You want complex routing ?
Get it ? you want easy edit ? Get it !It should have a good look ?
well, also here you can get it,because it is a designer piece.

Pretty darn easy to use, but you will want to read the manual to get the full scoop on intricacies and details. Very nice intuitive layout of controls.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is just AWESOME!! You will enjoy hour after hour of tweeking with this puppy. I use it for guitar, keys, drums, vocals, and signal from CD too. It sound KILLER on all of these sources. Very strong and potent sonic mangler without doubt!!

Reliability : 10
Hey, its made by Germans!! So, you can depend on it definately.
I love how the Germans make stuff, ya know, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Audio for example. They know what they are doing. Dont think I'll have any problems with the 4-Pole!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I do not know, but Im pretty sure they'd be helpful. (knock on wood) :)

Overall Rating : 10
I play experimental-ambient-trance and this is PERFECT for my needs. Been playin since the late sixties, and I own tons of gear, and many other quality filters too. This 4-Pole will stay in my set-up permanently. I would buy another in a heartbeat if I could find one. They are getting pretty hard to come by. Waldorf should make these again. Its pretty much the same filter as in the Microwave by Waldorf, I believe. This filter is like having your own Muse of musical inspiration and experimentation. Get one!!

At least the Waldorf would have got a a ten in usage.

For Parameter Changing "endless" Potis would have been better as this
usual potis.Nevertheless Waldorf offered two different modes for
Poti work.
And here we have it,eventhough we can screw with the realtime Potis
radical new sounds, for a better understanding of this tool the
manual is really needed.
Once you read it,then you understand how to get a sound or Midioptions
etc...Then it is easy.Without manual you will have problems.

The 4 Pole has so many functions in this little box.So a manual should
be with it.The manual is fun to read, maybe a little short.

And for all out there who don't know what a 4 Pole is,well,it could
be described as a 24dB dynamic Filter with resonance, two ADSR EG,a
Panning function and signal to MIDI Conversion and so on....

Originally build for synthesizers without Filtersection.(Remember
Korg M1 and all the other 80ths tools),the 4 Pole is a heavy duty
beast for guitar.

Sound Quality : 10
Warm, fat, analog at its best. This is no digital katharic Filter.
This one is the fat, fast and warm. The quality is the same(when not
better) as the Filtersection in the MINIMOOG.
With this tiny desktop device, you can make a PseudoRingmodulation(AM)
Stereomodulation,Frequencymodulation, the LFO goes from very slow nearly to Middle C.Resonance is strong and can be pushed to Selfoscillation
It can be also used as rudimentary Noise Gate and so on and on.

And the 24 dB Filter is one of the best.Similiar to the legendary
Minimoog.Fat,fast and totally analog at its best.

This device should not be missed in a guitarrig.

A perfect beast.

Reliability : 10
Made in Germany and all electronics inside are made forever.
High Quality at all.

Customer Support : 10
Never needed. But try a call,Waldorf guys like it to talk about their
products and will help out if trouble appears.

Overall Rating : 10
The 4 Pole is a must have. Its options are amazing and flexible.
The Matrix offers a lot of freedom for every usage.
And the sound is "unbelievable".A real good Filter.
Don't hunt for other dynamic Filters. You won't get a better one.
The 4 Pole is fat, analog and warm. And it is flexible.
And it comes with MIDI !
For guitar it is the first choice.eventhough it was designed for
synths.

Only the XPole of Waldorf is better, because it it two 4POles in one
unit.
But for guitar, the 4Pole is already enough. It has a MONO IN and a
Stereo out.

Get it,if you see it.....
