An easy pedal to get a decent overdriven sutainy lead sound from - especially with humbuckers. Good dirty rythmn sounds as well with one of the channels turned off.

A quiet pedal for a two channel overdrive. Not a lot of character/transparency in the sound though - seems insensitive to whatever nuances I'm looking to hear with different guitars/pickups. I've tried it with a variety of amps and amp modelers and it sounds ok. But that's the problem. For the money, it doesn't really deliver any knockout sounds. A fairly generic lead sound is what I get from this pedal and not much else.

I have another Wampler pedal (Ecstacy Overdrive) that is well built. Good quality throughout.

Been playing for 43 years. Rock, Jazz, and Blues. I own a ton of stuff. I was looking for a quick and easy studio quiet pedal to get my soloing ideas down with a decent lead sound on a computer recording setup - it has good bass response for a thin sounding amp/signal path for example. This pedal does that kind of thing adequately. But its pricey and not spectacular for the money. I wouldn't replace it if it was lost or stolen. I'd consider another Wampler product though.

Pretty simple to use, just dial in whatever sound works best for you.
One thing I don't like is that the knobs are silver with a very thin black line....Cannot see the settings on a dark stage...Why not black Knobs with a white stripe.....Looking cool sometimes is not very functional!!!

I gave it a 6 because it really changes the tone of your set-up, it appears to condense the tone sounding like your inside of a tin can. It would have been nice to use it as a straight overdrive/distortion without it effecting tone. However, enough fooling with it, you can get it to work. You can get some nice distortions out of it and it is versatile since there are two different channels AND it is not noisy at all....A big plus for me! But, there aint nothing like tube overdrive distortion, just can't equal that with this box. I tried the settings they suggested to get "Brents" sound....Way too distorted with their suggestions. It won't make your tele sound like Brents and I would bet he doesn't use this thing in his set-up...probably making a few bucks of the sales.

At first I didn't like it and when I Emailed them after one or two days, the only response was "you have to return it within 7 days for a refund".
It would have been nice if they asked for some feedback but I guess they just don't give a hoot...I kept it anyway!!

I received the Brent Mason "Hot Wired" yesterday. I opened up the box and there it was, the little beast. I didn't know what color it was gonna be because it was a gift given to me. Mine is the charcoal grey one, with black logo on it. I plugged into it and....wow! It really blew me away. It really sounded nice! I plaed around with it and it was too easy to get a good sound, It would be harder to get a bad sound..which I couldn't find. there was no manual as such, but There was a sheet of paper with all the instructions to dial in all the Brent Mason sounds That Brent uses on the pedal. These two guys really know how to make pedal sound great. I personally think Brian wampler is a pedal making genious. I ordered the Wampler Analogecho pedal immediately after hearing the quality of the hot wired. I think i'm hooked on his pedals now.(laugh)

The sound on this pedal is terrific, it has a certain magic to it, I don't know how to explain it.
I'm running this pedal through a marshall jcm 2000 100 watt.
The pedals I use with this pedal are as follows:
Boss dd-7...Exotic RC booster...Boss BD-2 blues driver "whizzer MOD" and soon to be wampler Analogecho.
This pedal is very quiet on all settings in my setup. It suits my needs perfectly. I play blues, rock, country. I use my marshall dirt channels if I want to get a heavy heavy sound which I don't usually use anyways.
This pedal sounds great for blues I noticed, Stevie ray vaughan, Hendrix sounds...the pedal instantly made me want to play some songs by these artist. if your into country, you'll love this pedal, sounds great with chicken pickin' licks. It really is a touch sensitive pedal i found. as for sound, i'm very picky, and a lot of pedals on my board would not get a 10 but i have to give this pedal a ten because I havn't heard anything better than this, different but not better when it comes to sound quality. The only thing that i noticed is that the pedal gives an audable POP noise when flicking the toggle switch to the left or right when playing, but you wouldn't have to move this while playing anyways, it would be preset.
I am 33 years old and have been playing for 23 years, and I know what great tone is when i hear it. Up 'till now the best thing I heard besides the hot wired for overdrive sound is a Marshall JTM-45 with an attenuator, and cranked! My buddy ownes one that he made from metro amps. But this little beast will keep up in his own litte way. This pedal with the right tube amp is killer. I found that the harder I pushed my jcm 2000 , the better the pedal sounded with the amp. I run this pedal into my clean channel only. You ought to try one of these little suckers! I guarantee you won't be dissapointed.
Check out the youtube clip as well..I was surprised how much it sounded like the youtube clip.

My god, Brian is awesome to deal with, I email him and he gets right back to me ASAP. It's crazy service, I mean he is on the ball, plus he has a secretary who also takes care of some questions such as shipping..so far he has been top notch in my books. he seems like he's really down to earth. This is the best customer service I've ever got. He even makes recommendations as to what would help you in certain sound situations. I have to give him a 10!

I play blues, rock and some heavy sounding music in a cover band. we play everything from johnny cash to ozzy osbourne. I havn't tried ozzy with this pedal yet though, but i would say if you had both channels of the pedal on the same time, you could get enough drive for sure to pull it off. Besides this pedal , my other pedal that i truly love is the Exotic RC Booster, and it sounds great and goes well with the HOT WIRED. IF My hot wired were stolen I would be devastated, I'd have to save up and buy another.this pedal cost my girlfriend $420.00 shipping included to my door In GFW-newfoundland Canada, and it was worth every penny. I really researched this pedal, there is not a whole lot of info from various sources on this pedal out there, reason..I think it's fairly new..2008? In my opinion this pedals kills any stock tubescreamer, marshall blues breaker 2, boss overdrives, because I own these pedals, they don't compare, they are nice pedals, but they don't have that magic factor. Another thing I noticed is that it makes you want to play! You can't put down the dam guitar when it's on. I have no reason to praise Brian wampler's pedals up like this, I don't know the guy from a hole in the ground..but he knows what he's doing, or as they say in Newfoundland, "he knows what he's at! Overall this pedal is easy to use, and is great from a number of styles, and will probably sound different in a little way by who ever is playing it, it really responds well to personal touch, and if you ask me, 90% of your tone will come from your fingers and the way you attack the guitar strings...but thats just me.
