Ease of Use : 10
1 toggle and 5 knobs all clearly labeled. The toggle selects vintage or modern voicing. The knobs control output volume, treble, mids, gain, and low contour.

No manual needed. Just plug-in, fiddle a bit, and enjoy. Very easy to enjoy.

Sound Quality : 10
Easily achieves very credible vintage and modern Mesa Boogie sounds... if you want more realism, then buy the amps this is meant to replicate.

To test her out, I ran it into the least metal amp I have, a Fender Blues Junior. Alone, or in tandem with other pedals, the amp was pushed into metal heaven. I even put it in front of a Lovepedal Les Lius pedal to give the Jr. a hyper-driven tweed-effect. Outstanding combination.

I can't imagine making a bad sound with this pedal. It sounded amazing with the humbuckers in an SG and I was getting very credible 80's hair metal with a Fender '57 Hot Rod SCN/DiMarzio equipped Strat. With humbuckers, you do need to tweak the pedal gain down with the guitar's vol up (or vise versa) as the pedal has quite of bit of gain on board. Surprisingly, it does clean up well with the guitar's controls, not common in uber-gain pedals. The mark of a good pedal, IMHO: flexibility, and quiet when you're not playing.

Reliability : No Opinion
Just got it, though, it seems well built in the finest boutique tradition.

Seems to be retired, as it does not appear on Wampler Pedals web site.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Hopefully, I won't need support.

Overall Rating : 10
I'm not what you call a metal head, though I did the 80's scene. Flash forward 24 years to today, and I play with a definite blues/jazz Clapton meets Carlton inclination. I grabbed this pedal because I don't see myself shelling out for a current Mesa Boogie metal-type amp to add to my already large amp collection just for the odd song or two.

My favorite feature is how well behaved the pedal is in terms of signal to noise and reaction with other pedals. I was amazed at how well it cleans up, just like a vintage Mesa, which was basically just a hot-rodded Fender amp back in the day.

I don't like giving 10's for gear - but I wouldn't change a thing about this pedal. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a bit of fire power when they play.

More metal-inclined players might disagree, or gripe for other tones - but then they probably already own the toys this pedal is meant to simulate in the first place.
