Well, if you are patient you can get some cool sounds out of this. Well explained and if you lose the manual the internal pots are identified with a sticker and their factory default settings.

Tried this with several tube amps. Noisy at higher gain settings. Very fuzzy unit, not a bad sounding fuzz but fuzzy. Articulate to a point, but gets a little glitchy at higher gain settings. Not a bad thing. Kind of a synthetic decay at lower gain settings. Lots of headroom, but as stated if you get it up the wick you are getting hiss, sometimes a LOT of hiss. Does not stack with other pedals, this thing is for stand alone use only. It freaks out with other pedals, not a bad thing again!! For the money you could do a lot better depending on what you are after. Dedicated amps always sound better, if you can afford them and can transport them safely.

There's a few more knobs to turn giving the player a lot of flexability and might take a little while to get the sound just the way you might like it, but it's all worth it.

I love the fatness of this pedal. It'll put hair on your guitar playing. Very smooth distortion to very chunky and all places in between. It is like a fat sandwich that you can't open your mouth wide enough to take a huge bite. It's a boutique pedal at a resonable price. I have a lovepedal and many others and this is takes them all down. I think I'll be getting rid of some pedals that I don't need anymore.

So many good tones in the thing. Sort of hard NOT to find a good tone.

It's hard to say if I can get the sound of artists I like since I rarely play other people's music anymore. Easiest way to put it is this: I like the music I play and I finally sound like I've always wanted... Anyways, I've tried my share of distortions, I've tried the muffs, rats, different boutiques, cheapies, as well as a Marshall TSL JCM 2000, JMPs, 800s, Reissue Sunn Model T, Krank Krankenstien and orange heads. I currently run a vintage Sunn Model T through an orange cab clean. If you don't know, the model t has no drive channel. So essentially any pedal I put in front of it basicly becomes a new head. So far the only survivor of the distortion pedal showdown has been the diamond fireburst. Until now. I'm sort if survived one reviewer described the lowend getting muddy. My experience has been quite the opposite. Aside from the fireburst, my head will muddy almost any distortion pedal. Finally the reemergance of way huge has released pedals I can use. I like the whole line and plan on getting the others as well. Now my head easily holds it's ground against the oranges and hot rodded 800s I've used. I can't wait to get my hands on the next way huge releases and I'm avidly seeking the red llama.

Way huge is back with Dunlop/mxr baking them. I'm assuming the service will be great. Plus Jeorge Tripps is easily accessible online and a friendly fellow.

Overall a great pedal and one of the few out there that will have a lasting power in my setup. I've been playing guitar for 15 years and play mostly expiremental metal. Tone is one of my biggest concerns. The fans of bands I've played in are typically "in the know" gear heads so what's on the board does matter. It keeps them coming out to shows. I believe that this pedal will become a staple of many boards. If lost I'd definately replace it. I run all analog pedals with ebmm silhouette guitars. Clarity is one of my biggest issues and the fat sandwich delivers.

If you like the pedals that require very fine tuning to get the exact tone you like, the this is one for you! The Fat Sandwich has 5 knobs: Volume, Distortion, Tone, Prescence, and Resonance. It can take a while to experiment with different effects to get the right sound.
No matter what settings you use, you get a great sound. The only reason it scored an 8 was due to all of the customizations. I personally enjoy just sitting around on a lazy day and seeing what sounds I can get out of this pedal.

The sound quality of the FS is amazing. I run it through a Crate FW-65 and play a Gretsch G5120 EM HollowBody, and it completes my setup. The true bypass featured with all WH pedals is fantastic, as I tend to get large amounts of feedback from my G5120. The pedal itself sounds incredibly juicy and can boast some metal or rock-sounding tones. If you turn down the Distortion, you can get some clean-sounding tones, which is great for Indie/Blues tones. No matter what settings you use, the tone will always sound like it has a hint of fuzz on it. It isn't a bad thing, as it seems to dissipate when you turn down the Distortion.
If you use the resonance knob, you can get the tone to go from grainy to "sandy". I typically keep the presence knob at 10, as it makes your tone much brighter. The tone knob takes it from bass up to treble. The distortion knob is really the Harmonic Saturator. If you have it up high, it sounds juicy, and if it's low the tone will go dry.
No matter what genres you play or what techniques you use, this pedal will most likely be able to fit your needs.

This is a phenominal pedal. It covers the whole nine yards. The customization is huge. The five knobs can keep you busy for hours. I've been able to cover so many songs by so many different bands, and each time, I've got the tone perfect for all of them so far. From metal to blues, rock to indie, the FS has you covered.
I've been playing for only about 1 year, and this is the first pedal I've owned. I was always hesitant about buying a pedal, as I thought I never needed one. This pedal and five minutes at GC trying it out was all it took for me to change my mind as I fell in love with the FS.
I love just about everything about this pedal: the tone, look, and of course it's name! My favorite part of the pedal must be the resonance, as it's the most influential effect knob on the pedal.
I enjoy classy things, (like my G5120 of course) so the FS seemed like a good addition to my early collection.
This has taken my song writing to the next level, by getting sounds I couldn't find before on my amp settings.
Take it from me, this is a great buy. It may be kind of pricy, but it is most definately a great buy. No other pedals can even compare to the FS's vibe that it brings out. I hope any future buyers enjoy it as much as I do!

Well, there are 5 knobs on the face of the pedal and 3 internal trim pots. That's a lot of possible tweaking so I wouldn't call it a plug-and-play. If you like turning knobs and learning how each interacts with the other then this would be a good pedal for you.

I have a HS Tele, a Strat and a Les Paul. My effects chain is too long to list without boring you, but I will mention the dirt pedals I own/have owned/have used (also a long list). The Emma ReezaFratZitz (still my favorite), Barber Small Fry (didn't like it), Keeley modded DS-1, Sparkle Drive (both regular and Keeley modded), Fulltone OCD, a few Big Muffs, Rat, Turbo Rat, Zvex Box of Rock, Box of Metal, D*A*M Ram Head, a few other Way Huge pedals, and a few cheapie dirt pedals I had when I was younger. Amps: Ceriatone 18 watt Marshall clone and a Fender HRDv 4x10 loaded with Rajin' Cajuns.
OKAY! As for the Fat Sandwich...I am A/Bing this with my Reeza since that is my go-to distortion pedal. Side by side the FS does not quite have the same fullness that the Reeza has. As stated above there is a lot of tweaking to do so you can get plenty of sounds but the low end never quite tightened up as much as I wanted.
There is a lot of distortion on tap as you can adjust the outer distortion knob (for the first gain stage) and one of the inner pots (for the second gain stage) but things got muddy before I got the amount of saturation I wanted. Individual notes got lost playing anything more complex than a power chord. That being said there are some pretty cool sounds to be had and this box definitely has its own voice. So far I'm sticking with it.

Seems pretty solid. High quality switch (no pop when engaging). The 2 bottom knobs on the face are small and plastic but still seem OK. Inside looks well constructed.

I've been playing for about 16 years and have gone through plenty of equipment trying to find "my" tone. I play a wide spectrum of rock leaning toward an indie style (whatever that means).
I was hoping this pedal would be both fat and harmonically rich (both of which the name of the pedal implies) but I'm still working on finding the exact sound I wanted out of this pedal. Its good, don't get me wrong, but so far it has fallen short of great.
