It's an overdrive pedal with vol, tone, and drive controls, so one would have to believe it's very easy to use....and it is.

Sound Quality : 10
I bought this pedal years ago before the Way Huge craze began. I've had a couple Green Rhino's and this one sounded the best (they don't all sound the same you know). In fact, I have had just about every major boutique and vintage overdrive including Landgraff, Menatone, Fulltone, orignal TS9, Xotic....this list goes on, but this pedal has remained the king. It has survided so many pedal board revamps I can't even count. But the point in all this is that it happens to be a great sounding unit out of other units of the same make and model. Just because one sounds great doesn't mean every unit of the same kind will sound great. Sure, they'll all be in the ball park, but without a doubt sometimes you get lucky and land on "the one". Bottom line, this pedal is really just a tube screamer in disguise, like most of the overdrives out there, with some neat features like true bypass and better pots and switches.

Reliability : 10
Years of heavy use without a hiccup.

I play pop, rock and blues stuff and this pedal is fantastic for all of it. Usually I play a Matchless or Bad Cat amp and this pedal works great with those amps to give them more drive and a nice 3D, lively tone. Works with Les Pauls and 335's but sounds best with Strats to me. If lost or stolen, I would just start the search for another mainstay overdrive. Probably wouldn't pay $400 for another GR since there are several other great overdrives out there for less and I doubt I'd find the magic this pedal produces in another GR out there. Great pedal! Fantastic value for $250 or so not for $400. If you are wanting to spend $400 on a tubescreamer you should also consider the Klon, Landgraff and Cornish offerings.

Its overdrive, 3 knobs. How complicated can it be? I'm a bassist!LoL

Sound Quality : 10
I'm giving er a 10 simply because this the best distortion I've ever used on bass.I've tried Prescription Electrons Depth Charge,an original T.S.,boss,dod/digitech,bass pod you name it and this by far surpasses them. On guitar though I give it a 9.5.Bass is where its at for me on this one though, just gives your sound a tinge of grit, althe way up too Harmonic Saturation but not really squishy, and it retains the bottom end excellent with the middle tone knob all the way counter.Silent bypass switching capabilities, I even turn mine on and off to hit chords on the off beat, no probs here. A+ to the crazy mad scientist on the box, I'm guessing thats you Mr.Huge cameltoe!

Reliability : 10
10, nice clean soldering, good rugged chasis, paint holds up fine too but scratches still, no enamel or clear coat.

Don't know honestly, their out of business because Mr Huge sold out and went to work for Bass Pod Pro 6,sucks I.M.O. I got 2 Vintage SVT's + the new Classic, and those presets on the pod are crap, distortions suck and are sterile, cheap plastic pots and chasis. You could'nt pay me the F'n750 and give me the Rack version on top of it. I use T.C. Electronic Chorus for you info. And a Teese R<M>C Gold Version + a Lovetone Wobu-trem/panner on bass or guitar, these pedals are so well designed they're good studio quality on all octaves!

Overall Rating : 9
9 because Way Huge really let its users down by selling out to the P.O.D. Maybe thats why tha band is named after pod, commercial crap!Line 6 eat me.I shove my G.E. 6550 down your thoat and spit out your plastic melting transistor p.o.s. For your info, I was in a pinch and sold my SWR Silverado for $550 on ebay and after it went I pulled my Rhino auction starting at $400 B.I.N 575, that was up.Now its only tubes for now on, I swear this time, I've learned my lesson. And I'll spend the money on the 6550's or KT88's.I also play guitar in my side band as well and use VHT,Wizard,Egnater,Mesa through an all Mahogany B.C. Rich Mid 80's custom U.S.A Neck Thru Ironbird with Dimarzio's with yellow crackly on black web paint. My bass arsenal is Tobias Sig.5,Modulus 5,Rickenbacker 4, and soon to be Ken Smith 7,note: no Gibson or Fender cookie cutters or worse like Ibanez,Jap Esp bolt on,Washboard etc. I'm just a workin stiff in my mid 20's been playin over 10yrs. Mostly Metal, like Deicide,Morbid Angel,Black Sab,Maiden,Dio,Rush,Zep,Mc5,Grand Funk,Monster Magnet,Clutch,Gwar,Motorhead,Zakk Wylde,Suicidal,Black Flag,Top,Savoy Brown,Skynard,Priest,Primus,Slayer, old Tallica,Overkill,Anthrax,M.O.D,S.O.D, and definatly not P.O.D.!Either of em! .

It is a TS808 at heart with Mr. Huge's touches. Easy as any other TS808 based OD.

Sound Quality : 10
This is my favorite of all TS808 type pedals. This I like more then the Analog Man ones and the originals. It could use more bottom, but that is the 808 sound!!! It can be worked with easily. There is a tone knob. My favorite OD pedal I have other then maybe the KLON. Not the best thing since sliced bread, but if you already got the bread, get this!!!

Reliability : 10
Dumb subject in the botique pedal market.

Customer Support : 6
He went out of business to design for Line 6. That is a sin. He still answers e mails though and supports his products. That is cool. That gets him a 6. He shouldn't have made such great things and turned his back on them and sold out. They are now fetching higher $$$ then they are worth. He should not have gotten in the game and bailed.

Overall Rating : 10
It's really good. It is pricy and hard to get now. There are equally as good TS808-like OD pedals to buy that don't require a search warrent to find and a kings ransom to afford. I reccomend an Analog Man KWS or a Maxon 808 OD. Cheeper and available. The difference in sound is so close you probabally would not care in the end anyway. I give a 5 since it is great. I only give a 5 because of the reason I just listed.

Three knobs and one footswitch. Can't get much easier.

Sound Quality : 9
I have a PRS CE22 maple top, Nady UHF wireless, the Green Rhino for "crunch", Boss Bluesdriver for "lead" into a Mesa Blue Angel.
The only problems are the cheap switch. It is a true bypass and you can hear the switch click through the amp when the pedal is switched on and off.

It sounds fatter and clearer than any O.D. unit i've tried. (at last count I had 12 O.D. and dist pedals laying around the house.) Much better sounding than the TS-9 reissue. Even with my complaint about the switch, it's the best sounding O.D. I've owned or tried.

Reliability : 10
I can depend on it but am worried about the long term reliability of the switch. If it ever fails, I will just use the Bluesdriver to get through the gig and replace it at the end of the night.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have tried to get in touch with the company but have been informed they went out of business. I would like to get another to have as a backup. I also wanted to see about getting an extra switch. It uses a triple pole-double throw switch and I can't find a replacement anywhere.

Overall Rating : 10
I play classic rock & blues and this pedal suits my sound perfectly.
I have been playing guitar a long time and am always trying new pedals. After finding this one a year ago, I don't even slowed down when I pass the pedal counter at the music stores anymore.

Pretty basic set up for an overdrive pedal- on/off switch, volume, tone and drive controls. There is not a great amount of variation within the knobs (exception being volume) but the range they do operate in is a very musical/practical one. And after all, if you are looking for over-the-top or bizarre sounds out of just the pedal, you probably aren't looking at overdrives. All in all, easy to use with approriate features. No manual, but it's not really needed.

Sound Quality : 9
Wonderfully musical sound. Depending on your other gear and how you are playing it, you can pull sounds ranging from beautiful to almost shrill out of this box. For guitars I am using a modified Tele with humbuckers, a Strat, PRS Custom 24, and probably a Ric 360 very soon. Ampwise I'm runnning a Vox AC30, Mesa Boogie Tremoverb, and a Fender Pro w/ alnico apeaker. The overdrive is not very thick; it's got this nice waterlike quality when used on a clean Fender-y amp- it just washes over your tone. On it's own through the clean Boogie it is a great open-chording rhythm sound. With the Vox it is a bit nastier with a great snarl. A superb rhythm pedal. For lead, I found it to be a little lacking on it's own (unless you are using it to push already hot tubes over the lines, in which case it is fantastic!) For lead, saying you are not able to use an amp set just to the breakup point, I'd say use it (or another similar pedal such as a Tubescreamer) with the Rhino set for a moderate overdrive rhythm sound and kick in the other pedal set in front of it (use only a little gain) to boost your signal and you've got a wonderful, dripping lead tone. SOunds basically like a tubescreamer with a little less dirt and bass response, but an overall cleaner and more articulate sound.

Reliability : No Opinion
I bought mine used, it was a little nicked up but hte inside seemed fine. Actually, the insides are immaculate, almost works of art! High quality components and an obvious commitment to quality... THis however didn't save mine form dying. I think it was not directly the fault of the pedal. The batteries are unbelievably hard to get out of these things. You basically need tools. Not just to screw open the back, but to pry out your 9volt! Perhaps I am doing something egregiously wrong but changing batteries on this is akin to changing strings on a 12 string Ric. Ric players will know what I mean. In all probability, in one of my attempts at a battery change, all my thrashing around in there with screwdrivers, knives, blowtorches, forklifts, etc. probably set something loose and now when I switch it on the sound goes bye-bye. It sure is a good thing about the next ratings category...

They are great! They responded to me (I emailed them) within hours and apologized for the inconvenience and promised me a repair- all I had to do was send it to them with $15 for shipping and whatever- not bad considering the are across the country from me and I am not the warranty holding original owner! From how well these things are made I expect no more problems with my Rhino or Purple Platypus (or teh several more WH pedlas I hope to obtain!) but id I did face one again the hassle is made less of one by the helpful and polite "Mr. Huge." He also headed his email with "aloha," which I found to be infinately cool. Yes, I suppose it's crazy, but things like that make you realize you are dealing with people, not machines mass producing little electric boxes.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall it's a very versitile piece of my setup. Other pedals include another Way Huge bit, t Purple Platyus, an Ibanez Tubecreamer, ElectroHarmonix Memory Man, ProCo Rat, Rocktron Surf Trem, sh*tty Crybaby wah (gimme a Vox!)and a few that float in and out of my possesion. You probably wint have a lot of people come up to you after a show and say "Woah! That overdrive pedal sounds awesome!" but you will always have people complimenting your overall sound and I at least have always felt satisfied with what this pedal does for me. It workds wonderfully within every project I've played with- a real "team-player," if you will. Always satisfies, unlike the "I play lead only!" Tubescreamer.

This effect is relly easy. There is just one button, ON/OFF.

Sound Quality : 10
It is basically a TS-9 that this guy redid into a BETTER package. NO noise, TRUE bypass, this is it for overdrives. There is a volume, a tone and drive controls. I'm running it through a Mesa-Boogie DC-3. This amp has a killer gain channel and a great clean channel but I could'nt switch to a bluesy, warm sound. Now I have three channels. I can get that Page "Lemon Song" Sound with a humbucker or a SRV sound with a single coil. Plus it's a great boost box. It pushes the tubes into toasty world. VERY nice.

Reliability : 10
Very Reliable. I would use it without backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I heard that this guy is GREAT at helping you. The green rhino has a life time guarantee.

Overall Rating : 10
I play jazz to blues to heavyer stuff. I just needed an overdrive to get a blues sound and got it. I run an RG-470 through the Boogie. I HAVE tons of gain in the lead channel so I really did not need a distortion. Boogie owners will understand. So as I said I have 33 channels now. Plus a boost on my lead channel. The only thing is the tone boost the mids all the way to the right. BUT the tone control is USABLE throughout the Whole range.

Controls are similar to a Tube Screamer. No manual was provided- you don't need one.

Sound Quality : 8
Very quiet. Excellent clarity with very sweet distortion. Sounds a little clearer than my Fulldrive, especially low end stuff. It does, however, lack the low end of the Fulldrive, so it's a trade-off.

Reliability : 8
So far so good- I've had it for a month-used on 2 gigs. I'd gig without a backup. Built very solidly.

No contact with Wage Huge. Delays with shipping are supposedly a problem. Bought this at the same time as the Aqua Puss Analog Delay- I didn't want to chance ahving to wait for the next shipment

Overall Rating : 8
I would definielty buy it again. Sounds as good as my Fulldrive, but lacks the 2nd boost feature. Also has true bypass- an important feature for me.
