The written in instructions were easy to follow, and the videos also helped me out a bunch. I was able to install the Whipple in my Crybaby with out a whole lot of fuss, and I'm no expert.

Sound Quality : 10
This is where the Whipple really shines : ) When compared to other inductors the Whipple blows the other inductors out of the water. I had a Fasel inductor in there for a while but the Whipple really sings. It sounds the way I have been wanting my pedal to sound for years but never could get it right, until the Whipple. I never really used the wah pedal that much, but now I love it and use it all the time, (maybe to much), but it just sings, so I can't help it.

Reliability : No Opinion
I'm not sure how you could break this thing. I'm sure it will last the life of this pedal.

Customer Support : 10
I had a few questions and Michael got right back to me in emails, and he was very helpful and friendly. He also got the order out to me the same week I bought it which is great. I would recommend getting one if you want to turn your average wah pedal into a tone machine.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I have been playing for over 10 years now and have always wanted a great sounding wah pedal. Up until now I haven't really been satisfied with the ones I owned, the Whipple really changed that. I play in a classic rock cover band and this nails that early Claption and Hendrix sound. My band mates would not believe me when I told them all I did was change out the inductor. This thing is the best! If I lost this pedal I would be really sad, but I would have to get another Whipple for sure.

On my vox 847 this was an easy installation and you can instantly tell the difference.Directions for installion are online and very clear so even a novice like myself can do this job with no problems.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a homebuilt thinline tele through a crate vintageclub30 tubeamp or a roland jc-77 with a stable of effects such as a sonicmaximizer, stereomemoryman, fishnchips eq, smallclone chorus, bbe greenscreamer, swoolen pickle fuzz, hbe compressor and anibanez pt-9 phaser then my wah pedal at the end.I bypassed this pedal as well so it's not to noisy.I am a wah pedal freak and can say with some authority that I know what I'm talking about since I own some different one to compare this to.Soundwise I would this inductor will add creamy tone to your wah.I have been playing side by side with a newly bypassed tdk inductor crybaby and while both are palitable in differnt ways.As I stated before the whipple adds cream to the sound and the vintage abit more throaty. The whipple thrives in clean or with some overdrive.I have been playing it solidly a couple of hours a day for a week now.It really meshes well with a phaser on the clean side so you can get that great reggae sound and with the overdrive you get those prototypical rock runs.

Reliability : 10
It's an inductor it's a simple item that should not fail.Being a wah pedalfreak you always keep a couple around. There cheap and fun and easy to upgrade.

Customer Support : 10
customer support is top notch and I don't work for this guy either. All I can say is go to Micheal's myspace and he's got all the info and illustrations you need to work on your wah pedal to make it better.I also refered this site to bypass my vintage crybaby and that was a success also. This a topshelf guy anybody with a crappy 69 dollar wah pedal should spend 45 bucks to bypass and change the inductor to have some thing that is comparable to a boutique wah pedal.I'm selling this guy read the previous reviews it ain't just me.

Overall Rating : 10
I play jamband experimental music and have been playing fifteen years.I own all kinds of instruments from midi to mandolin.I f it were stolen or lost I would by another cheap disposable wah pedal and do this mod for sure it's that easy. What I love is the sound there is no hate of the whipple. The best feature of this upgrade that if your handy with an iron the inductor can be installed in five minutes. Here's some free advice solder jumpers to both hot pins before you mount to the board.Newer wah pedals will not match whipple pins think it's meant to mesh with vintage stuff. It helps to make music for sure no matter what genre you play a wah can be applied to it to make it better.

Pretty easy to put into your Wah But i did sometihng alittle different.

I have a crybaby.I removed the Buffer and made it true bypass. Then i got my Whipple and a red Fasel Inductor and soldier them both to a New board and a switch,Ran two wires from the old inductor trace to the new switch. This gives you a A/B sort of thing. A being the Fasel B being the whipple.

The out come is. VERY LITTLE but the whipple is cleaner and more gainy. This i don't mind.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Still a MILLION times better than the Normal Crybaby inductor.

Reliability : No Opinion
VERY well made.

Customer Support : 10
He is only a Email away. Great videos Too.

Yeah a really great product for a wah upgrade. i suggest you do the other few things he recommends off his The whipple myspace.

Easy to install and the range was improved. I personally noticed it sound wider and clearer than before. Only remove old inductor, then, soldered 2 of Whipple leads (pins) and you can feel the different much better. I think anybody with basic soldering skill can install it. Micheal also have online guide for this mod and I think it pretty clear and easy to understand.
For GCB 95 (Rev. G) user, who really confuse with the Wiring Connection for Complete Mod (True Bypass, ICAR Pots replacement, Whipple Inductor and LED effecct) just email me <rais@soem.sharp-world.com>, i'll send you complete Wiring Diagram in Pdf format F.O.C.

Sound Quality : 10
It suppose to be more than 10. For me, it was a great sound of Halo type. Very clear, no glassy sound anymore, no cloudy and muddiness, wide range, good sustain. I also facing same wah's tone sucking problem before T.Bypass mod, just like other bloggers, now these couple of mods improved a lots. I did a Complete mod + 4 resistors mod. Resistor mod mostly will depend on our taste. It's too subjective. Nothing goes wrong actually. Choice is your.
For those who want to after a better wahs sound especially a sweet vintage tone, you MUST grab one (whipple) and you will loves your wah new tone. Sure thing, it will kick away your headache.
It still puzzles me, how this brilliant guy found this Whipple tone? It is a vintage tone. A big thanks to Micheal and also to Andreas Moller for their helps.

Reliability : No Opinion
It's about time. No opinion yet. I need to do aging by keep playing. because i just use it ( about a month). Can't say anything right now but so far so good. No uninvited noise tone yet. Should be no problem.
Based on previous whipple user review, I think this is a good handmade product. Made by metal/can plate make it looks though. I think maybe Micheal need to improve for standard design appearance of Whipple.
Keep on rollin' your great jobs Micheal!

Customer Support : 10
Technically, this guy is great in support. I always get his prompt feed back. He's friendly. Hope he can remains this forever to his future consumers.

Overall Rating : 10
For shipment, it's pretty fast (U.S to Malaysia within 2 week) and product received without any damage.
I don't have any comment on materials and sound quality. It always matching with my style. So far seem OK. I think the design appearance need to be improved a little bit. Maybe it takes sometimes.
One more thing, it will be better if the Whipple come out with attach Quick Guide for installation.

Had to poke around the internet for more detailed instructions but it was a piece of cake once I figured out what goes where. I bought the kit with pot and resistor upgrades.

Sound Quality : 9
I installed this for a friend and he is very happy with the results. He stated it warmed it up quite a bit and had a larger sweep.

Reliability : 10
So far so good.

Customer Support : 10
Emails were answered within 24 hours. He was very helpful and willing to make sure the upgrade went as smoothly and easily as possible.

Overall Rating : 10
Other than maybe adding a detailed instruction sheet I'd say this is an outstanding quality product worth checking out for yourself.

I ordered a whipple inductor (22 USD) and Icar Pot (15 USD) because i wanted my crybaby reissue to sound better than ever.
The whipple is fine, you just have to be carefull installing it, as the holes on my PCB doesn't fit the lugs of the whipple...maybe it's not a problem with other revisions of the crybaby.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using my wah with a LesPaul Std mainly, and a Princeton Reverb.
Before the mod, the sound was much more glassy +++. It's clearly sweeter now.

Reliability : 8
Except for the lugs that do not fit the PCB exactly, nothing special to say here. We'll see that in the futur.

Customer Support : 10
Michael is a very friendly guy. I had problems converting my wah to True-Bypass Mod. He answered all my questions, giving me ideas to solve the problems. It's a 10 here. It could be a 12 if it were possible.

Overall Rating : 9
I've finally succeeded in doing the mods. My wha sounds really better. Smooth and sweet.
I would recommand it to my friends if they plan to do the same mods.
And again, thank you Michael.

Ease of Use : 8
The whipple is a great bit of Kit...based on the inductor from the origonal late 60,s Vox Wah, reasonably easy to install with a little soldering skill and a bit of faith.

Sound Quality : 9
Modded my Vox 487 wah which wasnt bad as stock..but not in the same league as the origonal version, with the Whipple installed and the change of the four reccomended resistors, i would say that the wah voice is a third better than standard so that is quite a pleasanrt increase amount.

i can really get a great funky sound or a really heavy rock lead sound, i play alot of early Hawkwind,Dave Brock used a 60;s colorsound wah pedal...but i can now get a wah sound that is credible for space rock which is not an easy thing.

i play my Vox thru a Hughes and kettner Valve combo with a les Paul custom.....now my wah can really dish the dirt when played at 11 through the valve amp....still not perfect but close !!!

Reliability : No Opinion
no reason to beleive it will break down on me

Customer Support : 8
Micheal is a helpfull friendly guy...always quick to answer emails, the only thing i would say for the Inexperienced modder is that all the info required is spread around all over the internet, so requires some colating....im sure Micheal is on the case though and will rectify this as his customer base grows.
or it is assumed that the whipple recipiant has previous experience of Modding which many of us dont, and that we will know what to do with the parts supplied, if you email Michael though he will head you in the right direction.

Overall Rating : 9
I bought the whole kit which including the whipple four resistors, a True by pass switch and a new wah potwhich ifitted them all and then did the rewiring mod to make the Pedal true bypass.

im glad i decided to modd it myself instead of getting a guitar tech to do it, its all the better because i did it myself.

I have no idea how the whipple compares against the fassel inductor...i know im very happy with the results though

if i wear my Whippled Wah out i would buy another Kit to Mod another Vox

Well, to be honest I Installed this in about 15 minutes, very easy to install. I have more than one of these Dunlop wah pedals, so I installed the whipple inductor, played it right next to a stock Dunlop. I was hoping for that killer wah tone. Needless to say, I was totally disappointed in the product. It sounded just like the stock piece of garbage inductor Dunlop puts in their cheapest WAH. Model GCB-95, that's what I compared it too. I also have one of my wah pedals with the red Fasel inductor. I did a comparison to that inductor with the three pedals. Go with Fasel, It blows the Whipple in the dust and costs less. These reviews these guys gave on this Whipple, they must not be able to A/B this with another pedal or pedals. I have to rate the ease of use on this inductor the lowest, because it didn't do anything to make this dunlop wah better.

Sound Quality : 3
I use a hughes & Kettner Triamp 100W head . Carvin X100B 100W head, and Marshall JCM 2000 dual super lead. 1993 Gibson Lespaul 1959 reissue, 1976 Standard American strat, 1972 Gibson SG standard. I wouldn't say this inductor is noisy. It's just makes some noise is about all I can say. All I can say is, get the fasel, unless you just like to change out parts and have the stock sound going on. I'm giving this a 3 because it does sound better than a Behringer wah pedal maybe.

Reliability : No Opinion
Don't know, if it's reliable.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Didn't deal with him, I just chalked it up as experience. Now I know, don't replace a low grade Dunlop inductor with a Whipple. it's a wate of cash and time. mine is going in the garbage as soon as I get my new Fasel inductor.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I play blues, funk, jazz, classic rock and newer rock.

If this Whipple was lost or stolen. I wouldn't replace it with another Whipple.

I don't love anything about this Whipple.
What I hate about this Whipple is that it is no better than the stock low budget inductor in the dunlop pedal.

I wish it had the tone They describe, It's just not good, bottom line. This guy needs to go back to the drawing board.

Super easy to install on my GCB-95. Needed some guidance from Michael to find true-by pass diagrams and get an understanding on which resistors to swap and why.

Sound Quality : 10
Instantly improved effect. I swapped out the switch, pot, and inductor first. (no resistors yet) and Clearly I noticed how much control I had over the effect. The range of the sweep totally changed, was larger, smoother, and more sensitive (which is a good thing if you have played a wah for awhile)

Reliability : 10
Just got it, If there is going to be a problem, it would most likely be due to my rookie install.

Customer Support : 10
OK, this is the part that makes the rest of the rating scale look off. Michael was the MOST responsive person I have dealt with in so long.... Well, his approach is clearly old school american, "I built it, and I am going to make sure you get to benefit from it." Could not be better, since he lead me to solutions where I learned new stuff and didn't just have someone hand me something that I didn't really understand. Can I turn this category up to 11, man?

Overall Rating : 10
If you love wah wah, and like your money, Consider the Whipple. You have to be techically inclined (but not experienced), but if you want, Michael will sell you one of his, or update your's for you. But, honestly, if you can setup a floyd rose, or fix your broken guitar chord plugs, you can do this.

With the help of the online instructions and a few practice runs with the soldering iron, I had it installed in a matter of minutes. Actually, the Whipple had only HALF as many soldered connections as the stock inductor!! I had no problems whatsoever when installing it.

Sound Quality : 10
Incredible!! there is no other word for it. As soon as I plugged it in and turned my amp on, i kicked the pedal on and the first thing I notcied was it no longer dropped in volume. It actually jumped a bit and had a nice touch of gain. As i rocked the pedal forward, i noticed the sweep is huge and constant. No flat spots. I had the pedal right back in the low end, was playing runs on the low E and A strings and the notes were clear!! No muddiness at all!!The notes just jump out of the amp with colour and clarity. I can't explain how this one little inductor has changed my playing. Remember the first time you plugged a wah in and got that rush as soon as you rocked the pedal?? I feel that everytime i play now because of the Whipple.

Reliability : 10
I installed it yesterday afternoon, kicked the hell out of it at band practice last night, and no problems. The metal housing seems a lot more rugged and durable than the stock plastic one that was in there before.

Customer Support : 10
Emailed Michael to tell him how pleased I was with the inductor and within hours he emailed me back to express his thanks. An electronics guy who 'gets it', but isn't a pretentious ass!! Rare!! He even offered me other tips on how to fine tune my wah!!

Overall Rating : No Opinion
TEN!!! TEN!!! TEN!!! If you use a wah, this inductor will change your love of the wah pedal forever!!
