Lots of good patches to get you started & it's pretty obvious how to access most of the functions. If you've used Yamaha gear before, you'll already know how to operate it. Editing is simple and the manual is fairly easy to understand. As you rotate a knob, it's setting is displayed in digital format on the LED, which makes it easy to record and reproduce your favorite sounds. The delay time control doesn't have much "middle" to it. It moves you from very slow to very fast rapidly, 120ms to 420ms seems to blow by within an eighth of a turn. I'm spoiled by my Line 6 gear & would rather have a tap tempo control than a knob like this one, so they lose a point here.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using on Ovation shallow-bowl w/a piezo in the bridge & the modelling sounds great through headphones or direct into a PA. The chorus is a bit weak, but I don't view that as a negative. It sounds good, but it's not going to give you any thick, watery-type sounds. The reverb is typical high-quality Yamaha. The delay sounds good, but has the setting drawbacks mentioned above. You also cannot use the chorus and delay at the same time, which is something I like to do, so they lose a point here too. I want to dock them more points for not letting me have chorus and delay together, but just can't because the sound is still fantastic. My wife listened to it and started crying because "it was just so pretty." She's never anything done that before, so 'Thanks Yamaha, your sound rules! It moved my wife to tears!'

Reliability : 10
Looks like it's built to last. Yamaha is usually pretty good stuff. I noticed that a few people had noted problems with the quality, but I haven't experienced anything similar. I've only had it two weeks, but I think I can give it a 10.

I haven't had to deal with them in this regard, which I guess

Overall Rating : 9
This is an awesome box. It's portable, versatile, and easy to use. They also give you lots of stuff with it too. You get 2 TRS to XLR cables to help you patch it into a mixer board. You also get a "dummy battery" and a TRS cable that you can use to "phantom power" any active electronics on your axe. I'm sticking with the regular battery here, but I think it's an interesting feature.

I'd like it better if the price would have been $300 (POD range), but I'd still buy it again if I had to do it over. It's a very cool gizmo.

I spent the evening studying the book. When it came time operate it there were no major problems.

Sound Quality : 5
I'm a fiddle player but I usually find that I can get good results from equipment designed for acoustic guitars. The unit sounded pretty good when I was playing it by itself but when I played it with the band it was a whole other story. My tone lacked deminsion. It sounded like I was playing through a sterio. I think the problem is that everything gets digitized and nothing is left analog.

Reliability : 8
The unit looked solid.

Never had to deal with customer support

Overall Rating : 5
I needed this to be a live unit and it didn't pass the test. I returned it. It would have solved many problems it it would have worked. I may work well in the studio but why use acoustic electronics when microphones do a much better job.

Very easy to use.
The presets are good and customising them can be done in a snap. I only had to look at the manual once and it is well made. However, this thing is so easy to use it would have been difficult to write a complicated manual!
I have posted a review about the GT6-B for bass and complained about it missing something to be totally intuitive. The AG stomp has this extra "plug and play" quality

Sound Quality : 9
I am a big fan of digital modelling.
I have a line 6 pod for guitar and a gt6-b for bass. This unit is all I was missing.
I have at takamine EG522 (nylon strings) and a Takamine EG530 (steel strings). Those are not top quality guitars, only average entry level model.

I can plug both guitars in the AG-Stomp and build a very good sound. It is also a great relief not having to mike anything anymore. The sound is natural and the effects are simple, yet tasteful. I now mainly play my accoustics with the headphones, just for the pleasure of playing with a slight compression and a touch of reverb from the AG stomp. Wonderful!

There are different mike models and two specifics ones for nylon guitar. In my case, that was a must.

Very little backround noise too.

Reliability : No Opinion
I will not use it live, just for recording but it should do the trick

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never have dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
I give it a ten, just because I don't have to care anymore about miking up, staying at the same distance from the mike when playing, having total silence in the room...

Actually, unless you have really good mikes and a room with fine accoustic, buying this unit is a must. If you are used to plugging your guitar straght in the desk to record, think again. Go and try this in a shop. I did that myself and was convinced after 3 presets and a couple of chords.

The price is reasonable. Considering I can use both the steel and the nylon strung guitar, it's really not a bad deal.

It's taken me a couple of days to get to know the "AG Stomp". For
those of you who aren't familar with it, it's an acoustic guitar
preamp-effects/microphone modeler. At first it seemed a little
complicated to operate, but as I kept working with it the operation
logic of the various features became more obvious. The manual is good and covers everything in easy to understand language...if you take time to read it. I suggest you do read it first to avoid initial use frustration.

Sound Quality : 9
Features include a neat microphone modeling option having the ability
to emulate a concenser mic, a dynamic mic, a tube mic and a "nylon
string" mike each at both near and distant proximity. This may well
be the most important feature as the microphone modeling gives the
sound you get quite a variety of tonal characteristics. It has
chorus, referb and a digital delay effect. The reverb effect is good
featuring a "hall", "room" and "plate". The chorus is good, having a
wide range of control-abilty, however, I actually prefer my "CoolCat"
stomp box chorus. Another feature is the feed back reduction control.
It actually works.

It uses automatic feed back frequency sensing to kill feedback when
you tell it to by stomping a footswitch when unwanted feed back
occurs. You can also set a particular "patch" with feedback control
for a particular frequncy manually to be used later when using
that "patch". It also has an adjustable "limiter" which is pretty
handy when you are playing aggressively. This allows you to set the
upper limits of the signal so you don't get to loud on a stray stum
or string. It also has a tuner feature which is nice but is a
bit "jumpy" making it a little hard to tune. Put it this way, there
are better pedal tuners that are smoother like the Boss TU-2. Still
it is a nice feature to have.

Reliability : No Opinion
One thing I haven't been able to get to work which I am a little
disappointed in is the phantom power for the guitar preamp. It is
supposed to be able to replace your 9v battery with phantom power by
using a "dummy" battery in the guitar preamp and a stereo cable. So
for I've had no luck in getting it to work. I don't know if the
System 500 in my Alvarez-Yairi DY62C isn't compatible, although I'm not sure why it wouldn't be, or if I'm doing something wrong. Other than that it it is heavy and well made. Don't have any history on long term reliability, but I have a feeling that it should hold up fine if taken care of.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
In summary, regardless of the phantom power problem, I'm happy with
the purchase. I'm getting used to the controls and finding more ways
to use it's various features in my playing. They sell for between $
350- $399 or so. Although there are a couple of places i've seen
where they can be had for $330. I was lucky and found someone on EBay
who was selling one brand new, still in the box and got it for $ 300.
They are a admittedly a little "pricey" but they are well designed
and appear to be sturdy, heavy and well made. The best testimony that
I can give: I stayed up till 4 oclock last night playing with
it...it's a lot of fun and adds variety to your sound.

I'm posting regarding the "anonymous" post from back in November. I don't use the AG stomp and have never owned it, but I have bought 4 DG stomps and returned them all because there was no sound coming out of it. (I'm buying ONE more in hopes I get a good one, read on...) I bet your AG-Stomps were off the floor, out of box? Or maybe b-stock? Apparently the power supply is a bit unique and plugging something other than the approved power supply in there will fry your extremely expensive new purchase. I experienced similar problems with my various DGs and that seems to be the root cause of the "can't get a sound out of it but it powers on" problem. So if it was used, b-stock, or off the floor, it could turn out badly. Maybe someone at the warehouse messed with it before it was shipped, who knows. anyway DON'T just plug ANY power supply in there, make sure it is the one Yamaha sends with the product. And if you're getting it from a store, make sure you can get a signal out of it before taking it home.

I found it easy to use right out of the box. The pots must be turned hard left or right to initiate an edit change, a little weird at first but you get used to it.

Sound Quality : 8
I've had good comments on my sound quality when I play live, I normally run a Yamaha CSX 6 string with the internal mike @ 20% and find the sound crisp. The effects are well suited for the box.

Reliability : 8
It's only a few months old but judging by the build quality (brick %$#@house comes to mind) I should have no problems.

Although I am satisfied with the box, I think a tube output would have been nice considering the high price. I have been recording into ProTools LE with it and it sound better that any miking I have been able to congure up. Be carefull with the 9V phantom power, you must install a dummy battery (included) or you may damage you guitars electronics. (I leave it off). I could not find any similar box that provides the sound quality. I am curios to see what the competition will come out with.

Easy enough. Follow the manual & it will get you through everything correctly.

Sound Quality : 7
Nice and clean with tons of areas to tweak. Nice reverbs. good clean delay. Chorous was fine enough but not enough true stereo imaging for my taste. My biggest complaint & this was enough for me to send it back, was that it dampened the sustain of my strings. Notes dropped off too quickly. My Martin D-15, while not the big boy on the Martin list, has nice ring & sustain & sounds so much more airy and full with my Dan Electro stereo chorous, Dan Electro EQ(fish&chips)& an old Ibanez CS-8 compressor pedal. I run it into two channels on the mixer panning left & right, same as I did with the AG Stomp. The Ibanez compressor I use only occasionally & is not the reason for the sustain that I credit my Martin with & dis the AG Stomp about. Guess the grass isn't always greener.

Reliability : No Opinion
Appears to be built very rugged in typical Yamaha caliber but I only worked it for a few days which isn't much of a reliability test.

My acoustic musical interest is CSN&Y,
David Gray,Firefall,blusie/country. Been at it too many years to remember. Mostly electric with Teles/Strats & Fender all-tube amps.
I sent the AG Stomp back so guess there's no worry about it getting stolen! It is a nice rigg with plenty of usuable bells & whistles but it gave my acoustic to processed a sound. Seemed to make it lose it's warmth.Just an anolog kinda guy I guess.

i use this live with a larrivee D09 w/ a fishman, and a godin lgx-sa w/ a l.r. baggs bridge. i run it direct into the p.a. it's a bit digital sounding. a tube pre might warm her up a bit. But for now i'm very happy

Well, the manual seems fairly easy to understand, but my first AG Stomp didn't work, and neither does my second. I'm going to send this one back, too, unless I can get some sound out of it.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I couldn't tell you. I Ordered it from Sam Ash via mail. Since Sam Ash does not yet have the Stomp in their stores, no one can tell me anything about operating it, but it should be working--I'm following the manual every step of the way. I did some trouble shooting with Yamaha via e-mail before sending the first one back. Yamaha eventually told me to bring the unit back and get another one. So I did---with the same result.

Reliability : No Opinion
Well, I guess I couldn't say it's reliable. But I'm not voting on any of these categories. My point in telling you all of this is that if anyone knows what, if anything, I am doing wrong, I'd really appreciate hearing from you. I've been a Yamaha fann for years and this is the first product that has me scratching my head.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not the best. They take about three to five days to respond, usually closer to five. Sometimes more.

Very easy, some of the knobs have dual functions accessed by holding a shift button. The manual is well written.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using it with a US Masters Super T custom with RMC Poly Drive II system. The AG Stomp really helped to take the piezo edge off and give it a much warmer, airy quality!! I recommend anyone using this type of bridge to get on of these!
I go direct out of the Stomp to the PA and my in ear monitors.

Reliability : 9
It's a Yamaha and can trust it.

Get one!!!! It really helped tame the piezo brige. I have tried it with my regular Gibson J-100 and that is great also.
I only wish it was available in a rack mount version.
