Ease of Use : 10
One of Yamaha's 80's stompboxes, I believe. Black/Yellow, controls for Out Level, Overdrive, Low EQ and High EQ.

Sound Quality : 6
Found this in a pawnshop for $30. Never seen one before so I took a chance and grabbed it. I'd describe it as kinda Tube Screamer-ish at lower drive settings, and more like a fuzz box when you turn the drive control up. Can't be used as a clean boost as there's distortion even with the drive control all the way down. Even with the controls dimed, there's not a whole bunch of sustain or compression. Interesting pedal, but not outstanding. It certainly won't replace my OD-3.

Reliability : 10
Never seen one before, and there's only one other review. It does seem to have Yamaha's legendary build quality, though. This is no 2 diodes/1 opamp unit. Inside are 2 circuit boards, one with the main components and a separate one with all the pots on it. There are 3 main IC's and a couple of transistors, and a whole boatload of high-quality resistors and caps. Jacks are plastic, but with metal reinforcement. Boss-clone flip-top case with a pushbutton latch instead of a screw.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Nothing on the Yamaha website, and precious little on the web. I bought it mainly for its curiosity value.

Overall Rating : 6
A competent but not spectacular overdrive. Even though it has both bass and treble controls, I don't rate it as good as my OD-3, which has only a single tone control. It gets fuzzy if driven hard by another booster or hot pickups. Definitely not a thrash or metal pedal. Still, it's hard to go wrong for $30...I may keep it on one of my boards just for it's "gee whiz, what's that?" value....

Ease of Use : 8
This pedal is very easy to use. It only has 4 buttons (OUT LEVEL, OVERDRIVE, LOW EQ, HIGH EQ) and are easy to use. The manual (which has 3 pages on the pedal) explains the pedal fairly well, and with a little practice, anyone should should be able to use this pedal very effectivly.

Sound Quality : 7
The pedal (cmos OVERDRIVE) produces a very good overdrive sound which is a little chunky if used with high settings on BOTH pedal and amp. Otherwise, I found the sound to be very smooth and (most of all) loud.

Reliability : 10
It has a metal casing which lasts a long time, and so far I have had no problems whatsoever with it. The battery compartment is neat, since it is found UNDER the footswitch. Therefore you can never lose those annoying battery slots.

Overall Rating : 8
I would buy this pedal again, HOWEVER, if you have a lot of extra money, a BOSS Super Overdrive might be a better choice as far as smoothness of sound goes. But this is a great pedal, and cheap. Very durable and I would buy it again in an instant.
