Ease of Use : 10
Very easy, its a no brainer. buttons and lcd display and vu meter!!!

Sound Quality : 10
This thing is warm. Its big, bold and wide band.
XLR input and output boast clean noiseless signals.

Check out www.myspace.com/esoesguey to hear some delay samples. any delay you hear on those tracks is the d1500.

Reliability : 10
Its ruggedly built and heavy. Road worthy but best in a rack case.

Customer Support : 10
For a thing this age its best to get support from a local technician.

Overall Rating : 10
if you come across one for a decent price I say add it to the rack. If you like delay than you will like this. What makes this truly professional is the XLR i/o. However it still has 1/4" un-balanced i/o for guitar work and stuff.

Ease of Use : 10
This unit is very easy to use, push a button and tweak as the sound fits. Delay times to 1 second (1024 ms). A rounded and a squared wave form. Filtering of the delayed signal making for a nice analog repeat that is truley very clean.

Sound Quality : 10
Again this machine is from an era that is somewhat of an analog to digital conversion thus the storage method of the delay has a very analog sound with repeats that hold the signal without alot of noise gain. The modulation controls give you a nice robust chorus/phaser/pitch-shift/flanger effects depending on the amount of delay mixed with the depth and frequency of the effect.

Not a U2 delay but can model the repeat without modulation very well. This unit does not compare well to the SDD1000, SDD1200, SDD2000, SDD3000 or SDD3300. The KORG units are very well built with excellent modulation and delay circuitry and well know as the EDGE'S primary units. I do have SDD2000's and SDD3000's in my rig and run in stereo which I truley love. The D1500 was purchased to see just what it would do and I love the KORG units hands down.

Reliability : No Opinion
Purchased on EBAY, the input and output pots are very poor quality and the power button kinda lays in the socket. I really cannot rate based on the unit being purcahsed used.

NA

Overall Rating : 10
Not a delay to use when trying to get the U2 sound! But a very good delay when trying to get a true warmth and lush modulation in a digital delay. The sounds are very real and warm.

Todays delays are very digitized and cold but this old Yamaha is a gem in todays over sampled and hard edge soundind rack units.

If you can find one get it!!!

This is an extremely straight forward unit to use and program. No manual needed. If you do need one take a look at: http://www2.yamaha.co.jp/manual/english/index.html

I am using a fender guitar with a Line 6 Flextone 3. I play mainly Alternative and Classic Rock. This delay allows control over delay: time, feedback, low pass filter; modulation: rate, depth and waveform; delay phase invert. It is also midi controllable and has a knobs and a LED for level in and out. The quality of delay is amazing, great warmth and control over the delay parameters and little extraneous noise; this unit is quiet.

Reliability : 8
Considering this thing is over 20 years old, it's been holding up amazingly. Built solid and reliable.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 9
For those who use midi, this unit is perfect, it's a dedicated delay rack with midi in and thru. I've used plenty of delays from (Zoom, Roland, Ibanez, Boss, Digitech, line 6) This is one of the best I've played yet, and is worth buying if you can find one. If this unit was lost/stolen I would definitely search out another one, only problem being it is quite a rare unit.
