If you know what it is supposed to do, then just plug it in and it'll do the job. If you dont, then you just educate yourself about modulations, feedback, and delay timing and you are ready to roll

I use it in a parallel loop to my mixer. Unfortunately it does not do filtering so I need to couple it with other units. There is no external feedback loop option and you really need to try hard to get good sounds out of it. When you master it though it sounds really good. It is neither a 2290 nor an SDD-3000 and will never be one as it has different opamps and design philosophy.

After 5 years of daily usage the left channel went dead, few weeks later it came back. Now it comes and goes.

I tried to fix the left channel problem with an authorised distributor, however they were asking a fortune (>>400 EUR). I rather live with the problem.

I really like the ease of use and the decent sounds. It is a really dedicated delay so no reverbs or filters here. I would not change it as it does its job and does it well.

Not as easy as if it had dedicated knobs for each function, but easy enough to set and save your presets.

About as good as it gets. This is truly a professional piece of equipment. It has unique features setting it apart from any other dedicated delay unit. It has 6 separate delay line taps, each with fully adjustable parameters including pan position in the stereo field, with separately controlable feedback (output level and percent regeneration) for each tap. Try that with a tc 2290 (you can't).

As reliable as any other I've seen.

I have been playing fusion and blues for 30 plus years. I am not an internationally known artist, but I play just as well as most of them. If it were stolen, I'd call the police. What else you going to do? You can go with the tc 2290 and be happy and never know what you've missed, or you can check this out. If you're going to spend that much for a delay, you owe it to yourself to check out the D-5000.
