Chimp simple.

Absolutely beautiful. The only thing that is a little bit of a downfall... there is a little loss of bass and it does sound compressed at some settings. However, it is not a bad compressed/loss of bass. I have found for strumming chords and arpeggios it is stellar. No popping sounds, but you can hear it come on and turn off(minor detail).

I can say this... I had a chorus 10m II for 17 years and sold it because i never used it. It looked brand new. I thought it did not sound to good through my tube amp, but it sounds great through my solid state. Anyways... I regret selling the chorus pedal. I was lucky enough to find this flanger for $36.00 and will never sell this sucker.

I also have the distortion 10m II got it for about $9.00 and I will review that on that posting.

If you can find this flanger... get it. I have one that was made in Taiwan( guessing) it does not say made in Japan. BUT this pedal sounds great.

Reliability : 10
built like a tank and they are around 20 years old... I don't think a line 6 liquid flange will last that long.

Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall a 10. The comments about the lose of bass etc. was just for info and preference taste/music styles. As far as a flanger goes... beautiful.

This thing is pretty easy to use: 4 knobs, and of course the foot switch. I don't really know if you can get a "bad" sound out of it. It didn't come w/ a manual, as it was used when I got it, but really, it's a stomp box....if you can step on things, and twist knobs, you should be able to get the sound you want out of it.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this w/ a variety of setups (my pedal board is in a constant state of flux). My guitars are: Fender jazz bass 4 string, Stingray 5 string, cheapo a/e 4 string bass, Takamine a/e guitar, LP copy guitar. From here I usually run into (for bass) Ibanez sb7 & pd7, Morley bass wah, then usually this unit, Dano Peperoni phaser & Tuna Melt trem, then a Behringer V-tone bass driver/di (which, by the way,is extremely cool, and cheap.) From here, I run into my Eden Nemisis bass combo (4x10, 200 watts). I have quite a number of other stompers and digital processors, as well as some rack stuff, so this has been used w/ quite a lot of different setups.
No matter the order in the chain, or the instrument, or the location (through the amp, to the board to record, to the PA mixer), I have never had a noise come out of it that I didn't intend to come out of it. Totally quiet when not in use, and I can't tell that it reduces the signal when off.
This unit always sounds good. I don't really try to get the sounds other people are using and a lot of times I like to get alot of feedback and crazy sounding stuff when recording at home, and this has always been able to help me in trying to get to a creative place. It will always have a place on my pedal board.

I have had it over a year now, and use it almost nightly. Never had an issue or doubted that it would work. I step on it, it comes on, I play, I step on it, it turns off. Every time. Of course, I gig w/out a backup. Who doesn't? Most of us can't afford to run around doubling up on all our stuff....that's for the guys who play the big shows, and think they look really cool because they have really expensive gear to start w/ and then have two of everything....

I play whatever gets a hold on me...right now I am listening to a lot of Sonic Youth, Rage, Skillet, U2 (the newer stuff), Thousand Foot Krutch, Audio Slave, Audio Adrenaline.......the list goes on. I cycle through a lot of different styles and that's the style a play at the time. I guess you could classify it as rock (that's what every one says), but there are a lot of blues & jazz influences to it, as well as a lot of Zep, and Floyd type style to it........it's pretty much a crap shoot.
If stolen (I don't know how you would lose a piece of equipment), I would be very upset....however, before trying to find another one just like it, I would try some others out. I don't know that would be satisfied if it weren't the same thing, but I might, you never know. I really wasn't in a flange specific market when I got it, but now that I have it, I love it.

Very easy to use and to set good! 4 knobs make really easy to tweak sounds from a soft flanging to heavy ring modulator self-oscillating suonds.

Sound Quality : 10
I use various guitars: Ibanez Jem, Les Pauls and stratocasters. The pedali is not noisy if you have the right supplier for it: you have to use stabilized ones if you want to experience the best from stomp boxes. Sound quality is superb, it's analog, so you can imagine how warm is the sound coming out from this unit. I own the chorusfrom this series and I have to admit these pedals are keepers.

Tough iron case and super strong switch coupled with recessed controls: what can you expect more?

Very easy to use. Didnt get a manual with it, but pretty much the same controls as most flangers.

Sound Quality : 10
I bought this off ebay without even hearing it first. It was 15 dollars, so i took a shot at it. And im glad i did! This is the best flanger i have EVER played through. its all analog and it sounds GREAT! i wish i could find the other pedals from this series. If anybody has any of them for sale or knows anywhere where theres some for sale, please email me at yo_yo65@hotmail.com !!

4-knobs, lots of different sounds.

Sound Quality : 10
Easily beats the Boss, and Ibanez Flangers, This is really a poor man's ADA, all the controls go way over-the-top! I bought a mint one for 89.00!! Total bargain. Bypass is great, not true, but the cleanest bypass you could hope for.

Reliability : 10
Built like a brick!

Customer Support : 10
Yamaha is better than the other Japaneese companies.

Overall Rating : 10
I actually like the sound of this flange better than the ADA. It is extremely full sounding. You can get the usual jet sounds, but with the feedback maxed, this goes into Ring Mod territory. Definitely the best compact pedal Yamaha has ever made. A must have for any home studio.

4 knobs ....Its not rocket science

Sound Quality : 9
Very cool. There are more knobs then most Flangers. It is the best Analog Flange I have heard. SUper warm. There is a manual and frequency knob that make some serious spaced out sounds. Sounds like some effects from the Boss GT-3. Cool flanger. I got one used in mint contions for $20. Its a must own at that price!! To bad I cant find the chorus and other yamaha pedals.

Its a metal BOX. It lasted this long and still works!
