it was pretty easy to figure out how to use this thing.
the "level meter signal switches" were a little confusing at first. but they are pretty easy to use once you know how they work.
this mixer is very straight forward, everything works the way i expected it to work.

overall it sounds pretty good. the effects are a little noisey though. i wouldnt use them anyways. if you need effects, its much better to just connect an effects unit into the effect send/return on this mixer.
for some reason, the output seems very loud, i am feeding into studio monitors, i turned down the gain on my monitors and still the output is very loud (just a millimeter above -infinity and its almost too loud)

the knobs are excellent, they work great.
the faders seem kind of cheap to me, they wobble left to right slightly.
the preamps seem very well made.

overall this is an excellent mixer.
if it were lost or stolen i would probably buy it again.
in my opinion this mixer is better than my old mixer, a mackie cfx12.

16 channel compact mixer with 4 sub-group busses, 2 stereo mains, 2 aux sends, on-board digital effects, onboard graphic EQ and pretty blue color!
Very straight forward mixer. Manual is good but could be better for people new to mixers, lots of set-up examples would be nice.

Excellent sound-quality for the money. I would rate the mic pre-amps to be just below a Mackie XDR pre-amp---for a LOT less money. Very little noise. The +4 dB boost on the main and monitoring outputs is a great feature and helped immensely for my application.

Seems VERY reliable and very well built. I've owned it for only a short while so not much opinion, however, I can tell it is made well. The knobs are smooth and tight and the master fader is very precise. The casing is hard and sturdy AND heavy, which is a good sign of quality. I am not worried at all about it.

Never dealt with Yamaha but would imagine they have been doing something right to be in business this long and making quality products (except for their speaker lines).

I'm using this mixer for a home studio and it works fantastically. Lots of features and inputs, great quality and ultra reliable. If my house was broken into and this was stolen, I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. If you don't have the money for a Mackie, choose the next best thing and spend hundreds of dollars less.
