I just want to say something that I want to change from a ealerier review that I did. Don't get this crap!I gave it an overall rating of 9. Now I give it a 3. It's horrible once you store a patch somewhere you can get the old patch that you store on top of it back unless you do a wierd thing to it. Then if you do that you lose everything you did. It sucks and the effects are absolutely horrible. Do not get this at all!

Stay clear of this unit.A bunch of totally lifeless tones. The dirty tones are all very buzzy and sound very artificial no matter how much you fiddle with the eq and the amp sims.

Didn't use it for too long so can't comment on the reliability. But I wouldn't do a metal gig with it.

I listen/play a lot prog. rock and metal(not the 'nu' crap). In my opinion,a few artists having good tones are Greg Howe,Yngwie Malmsteen,Blues Saraceno,Allan Holdsworth etc.
This unit doesn't even close to reproducing these tones but then again,I didn't expect much from such a cheap unit.It does however offer a lot of features and a beginner might find it useful.
I have a small FX processor which is in the same price bracket(Korg Pandora) and that totally blows this unit away in terms of sound quality.I really don't care too much for a million features.Just a few will do as long as they're good.(esp. the preamp)

It's pretty easy. The owners manual is hard to understand, but once you mess with it yourself its a piece of cake.

It's really good sound too. Everything sounds good. Nothing wrong with it at all. Only one thing though. When you play a note and let it ring for a while it starts to have a wierd sound(kind of like when the processor is trying to shut down.) But that's not that big of a problem because it's not that loud and it takes a long while for it to ring before it does that.

I just want to say this is an awesome processor that any body should have. There are better processors for more money but this really has everything I need. And I play alot of experimental music with wierd effects and this works fine.

Plug n Play. Very easy to edit exisiting patches with a nice analog (knob) control. This results in a quick edit of a few of the more obvious effects. To really refine a patch there is a deeper level of editing which is also fairly straight forward once you have done one or two edits.
The manual is pretty good. It doesn't detail settings for the preprogrammed patches but once you are editing them, you can figure it out and modify appropriately.
No way of upgrading the firmware.

Used with a Peavy Generation guitar (tele copy with strat style pickups) and a 50w tube Traynor amp.
No noise from this pedal at all even when the noise reduction circuit is almost off.
Some of the preprogrammed patches are not to my taste but the basic chorus, distortion, reverb, phase, wah, drums, are very good and infinitely editable. Distortion is a bit heavy - goes from off to medium rather than mild. Compared to the POD I had for awhile these sounds are a lot better. However the POD relaly is an amp simulator and that is where this pedal is weak. I would argue that the amp sounds are more of an eq/tone function.
Only sound quality complaint is on the half speed playback. It sounds like crap. Its really only useable when sampling a lead, using it to decipher any sort of fast arpeggio or rich track is impossible.

Have used it for 2 months with no issues. Its pretty reasonably built although I have my doubts about how the 2 foot pedal switches will hold up. They feel like a carbon based contact (ie not a mechanical based switch) and these have a habit of wearing out. If they wear out there are finger size buttons that accomplish the same thing but won't be too useful when plaing a gig.

Great first pedal. Great for practice with its sampler and drums. Tuner works better than POD I used to have. An infinite number of effects can be built so if you've got money for only one, this is a good buy. Compared to Digitech and Korg, with comparable features this unit costs a lot less and I don't see that anything has been sacrificed. I would buy another.
With the sampler and drums I think it makes you a better player through improving your practice sessions. I've been playing for 25 years and spent more time enjoying practice & composing than I ever have since I bought this.
Not a good amp simulator, or a slow playback sampler but for the $ I'm giving it a 9 due to its fanatastic bang for the buck.

Well, Dist/Overdrive Suck completely. There isn't a good fuzz nor Metal Distorsion. I always though my MT-2 is by far to technical dis. but when i play the MT-2 after the GFX, it's sound 10x better. Though i like more Tube/vintage distor.
The Effects are...hmm
WahWah sucks,
Delay is okay
Chorus is good
the rest i don't use.
The best thing is, it has xpression pedal, and Drum Machine whihc kicks ass.
The Sampler sucks big ass!
Overall, it's hmm...not the best i've seen!

i run it into either a Ampeg 140-CH or my carvin sfx 200 with an Ibanex grx-40z. not noisy at all other than natural pickup humm. (quiter than w/out gfx707) I use it mostly for the dist. effects nd the delay and echo. some effects are almost pointless though.
(ring modulator?? good for little sound effects but not really for playing) after a little patch work i finally got that elusive MESA sound, but better!:) flip that little amp sim. to combo a and you got metallica, turn it off and go to mid and bridge and you got godsmack. i love the sounds this is capable of!!

Pantera, Metallica, and other pissed off stuff. benn playing about 2.5 years, (17.5 yrs old) my friends(and family) are amazed how fast i learned. i am lucky because everybody in my fanily plays something. and yes, i would buy it again. i love everything except no bank pedal.:( would like to be able to mess aroud woth the amp sim. settings though to see what it would do. would also like a programable drum machine too! But all in all, this is a pissd off pedal. if anybody wants to trade patch settings, let me know at wanker720@hotmail.com

Are you looking for a classic Hendrix tone, or maybe that powerfully brilliant Van Halen overdrive? Well LOOK ELSEWHERE. This pedal is $375 and with about the same number of effects as dollars this amp can get a lot of tones, but usually they are abstract versions of what a real pro would be looking for. However, if, like me, you are a punker who likes to experiment every now and then with a bit of wah-wah or delay, and you can't afford the fifty necessary pedals, then this pedal is for you. The experimental possibilities are endless. It also has an adjustment pedal which serves a different purpose for every effect (eg. wah-wah, volume).

Now that I've had it for a while (1 year) and have had the pleasure of trying more specialised pedals, I have come to realise that this pedal does not quite cut it for me anymore. I still enjoy using it, but I just don't really use it for recording or jamming as it is just not quite there. I use it through a Fender 15 watt practice amp, and through a Marshall VS-100. I found the VS-100 distortion far superior to any from the 707.

For my punk band I have bailed this pedal for the Peavey 5150 Combo amp which I am buying (off the singer/guitarist for Kerb! Epic former punk band from Perth WA, a band that any punker from the area should know. If you don't, get your head out of your arse and find their album "Nobody here but us Walruses". His recording amp for their only album prior to disbanding.) This pedal is like a lot of women, at first it's all you need, but after a year of it you yearn for more.

There is a small amount of noise when using it on some effects, but there is something they call Zoom noise reduction though, but still a small amount of fuzz on some effects. I mostly use the Wah Wah, delay, overdrive, distortion, flanger and a few other effects, that i use when writing, that are compositions of their own. I use a squier guitar with this and run through just a small amp, when i play at home. Most of the effects a good, but there are a few that i just wonder about why they put them in there, as they are just useless, and i hardly ever use them.

I only use this pedal at home, and wouldn't use it at gigs. For that i would use my boss pedals, as they are much simpler to use, and are more reliable, since the GFX-707's casing is just plastic. i think that this pedal is just for jamming aroud with at home, and not to be used at gigs. I would reccomend this pedal to any bedroom rocker, and garage band, although for those who gig a lot, don't use this on stage, or it's lifetime won't be that big.

I would probably replace it if it were stolen or lost, but i am not sure on that topic. Some of the effects are just pointless and i don't like them. i like the expression pedal, and the tuner built in, but i don't like some of the buttons, as even if you were wearing no shoes you would still have no shance of pressing them. I play blues and rock, although so far, i haven't been able to coax any bluesy sounds out of it. i haven't been able to compare this pedal to any other multi effects pedals, but i think it would be a good pedal for a beginner, bedroom rocker, or garage band.
