i think that it's very easy to use for this kind of guitar effect. very easy to use for everyone... i don't know... maybe that's because... i was always using zoom pedals.

Sound Quality : 8
i am using it... with a Kramer pacer custom II .....and a Laney Hardcore 30W amplifier... it's working very nice.... but the only problem i can notice... it's that the compressor stops the sustain of the sound.... i don't use a special sound that's reminds something.... i have my own "personal" sound...i like my sound being hard and smooth....

Reliability : 10
i never hard any problems....i own it.. about 3 years...

Customer Support : 10
i never needed any support.... for any Zoom pedal i ever had...

Overall Rating : 9
i like playing hard rock, heavy metal, power metal .... i think it's very good.... specialy for the price i bought it...and the things it offers.
i also have some other Zoom pedals 505 (1st version and 2nd) a single Boss Distortion, and a Zoom GFX-7....
i love that it's easy to use... i hate it's compressor.... as i told before... i have problems when i use the compressor with the sustain of my guitar sometimes... dunno what it's wrong... i wish it had a better compressor...
GIVE IT A TRY.....

It is very easy to use. I don't get all these people on these boards who complain that --oh my god-- they actually have to edit the presets in order to get the sound they want. You can edit all sorts of effects and rock it easily.

Sound Quality : 8
I never noticed any significant sound quality issues. I was using a 1986 kramer pacer guitar with a crate amp and it sounded cool. Using hte Zoom Noise Reducation (ZNR) was awesome becasue I could crank the gain up to infinity and when I wasn't playing it would be silent.

Reliability : 5
I thought this thing was reliable for the longest time. I beat it up quite a bit and it last about 4 years. But after mailing it off to the company to get fixed once, having to soder the insides of it several times to keep the inputs from falling out and eventually leaving it plugged into the wall fried the insides to the point where it doesn't work anymore--- left me to wonder. Never trust anything made of plastic that you are supposed to stomp on.

Customer Support : 5
I dealt with the company on two occasions. the first time I still had a warranty so they fixed up the unit and mailed it back to me. the second time they called me up and said that it would be cheaper to buy a new fx pedal. They really should keep old parts from discontinued models around. They should also fix up their website- it's horrible. It should be a lot easier to find information on discontinued models- manuals and such.

Overall Rating : 8
I describe my gutiar style as a mix of slayer and rage against the machine. I dig the metal thing, but love weird crazy effects. FOr that, this thing was cool. Alot of pedals out there only let you use one or two fx at the same time. with this one I had wah-wah at the same time as a digital whammy and a delay. I would set up a ring modulator with reverb and phaser. Then I would just nail some metal distortion and rip it up. When I first got this I was a beginner only playing maybe a year. It lasted about 4 years. Since it broke I've been looking at other fx pedals. I think I'm going to get the Zoom 8080 as it has even more fx combos I can make and I can buy one used for cheap. The four major thigns I wish this had- and maybe these are off the wall-- being able to save settings to removable media or computer, a mode to use the pedals to turn on or off specific fx within a patch while playing, more user defined patches to save to, and to be more durable and sturdy.

It's pretty easy to work this thing, especially with the manual. My only beef is with the hold delay and the wah. I can't figure out how to adjust the wah range and I find the default setting too wide.

Sound Quality : 7
I used to use this with an old B.C.Rich Mockingbird through a Kustom Solo16R amp, and it sounded pretty good. Now, I use a Gibson SG through a Marshall MG50 DFX combo. It took a while to adjust the patches from the Kustom to the Marshall, but now it sounds good.

Reliability : 10
This thing is amazing. I got it used 2 years ago from my uncle, who had it for many years, and I have had no problems with it since then. It's built like a tank. Mine once got rained on, but after three days of drying, I plugged it back in and it worked just like it had before.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have yet to need it.

Overall Rating : 8
I play various styles, from rock and blues to punk and metal. This pedal works well for rock and punk, and it has pretty good blues tones, but heavier distortion requires lots of tweaking. I have been playing for 7 years now, and this is one of the few effects I have; I don't need anything it doesn't have. If it were lost, I would probably buy that DigiTech GNX4 thing. I love the wide range of effects and the large number of user banks. I never use the preset banks. The pitch shifter is invalueable for practice and the occasional cover tune. I've found that I need to set the master vol. <45 to aviod harmonics, though.

well, just plug it in and you got sound, its not hard,
but in the beginning i had some trouble to make the Wahwah or sustain pedal to work properly.... but if you're not a dummy this unit is OK to work with !

Sound Quality : 7
i give it a 7. why ? its NO GOOD for studio recordings,
but its FUN FUN FUN for just amateur recordings, jams, rehearsals,
i got totally crazy about it when i plugged a mic in it,
or better, when i connected it to the AUX of my mixer, then i put the Zoom FX on each channel of my mixer (on each mic that is).
reverb, delay, computer voice, distortion, compressor, some flanger stuff too i think... me and my friends had SO MUCH FUN with this unit!
But in overall, it hisses a bit too much, the reverb is a bit too dull, full, and fat, hell, its just a "cheap" fx box for guitars, and it does its job well, but you won't sound like slipknot with this unit.

Reliability : 10
never had ANY problems with it,
had it for a few years, even bought it second hand,
so i assume its VERY reliable, eventhough its made in PLASTIC,
never had problems (its very very light too)

Customer Support : 10
they ROCK,
i mailed them for a copy of the manual (and i think they don't even make the 3000 anymore), a month later i received a BIG copy of the manual, came straight from the USA ... not every company does that, GREAT

Overall Rating : 7
well, i was a bit sorry when i sold it,
but i needed the money, and right now all my equipment has been upgraded, i don't have as much FX as there are in the Zoom,
but all i got is alot better in quality (joemeek compression, lexicon reverb and delay, tech 21 distortion...)
so if you're looking for a small, light, cheap and fun unit for your guitar OR VOCAL mics, then you should try to find one of these,
i don't think you'll regret, nah, you'll be fine

Editing patches is a simple affair. Lots of leds to show you where you are etc... Pedal switches are sizeable and easy to activate. I've been tweaking this unit for years now though and feel like i haven't yet settled on the some sounds. Not easy to get strong distortions out of it i feel.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm using a jackson DX10 pro with EMG 81 / 89 setup into a Fender Deluxe 112 90W amp (guitar input). There's some hum on the distortions (I mostly use the grunge one even though I play hevay metal - the metal sound its airy and doesn't stand out in the mix at all) although the noise gate is effective. I downtune a lot and like Meshuggah and fear factory sounds. Saturated and crunchy, but have my work cut out with this esp when playing with other people live. The chorus, flange and delay sounds are very good. Pitchshifter is ok, but get flickering between harmonised notes even when guitar is in perfect tune. Pedal is also ok. I don't have a problem with sounding digital. Its quite cool and mechanical sounding, but those old geezers who love to hear soul and techies who can visualise waveforms may shy away.

Reliability : 9
Haven't had any problems over last 7 or eight years. The store button needs a good pressing to work though

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to call them

Overall Rating : 7
Been playing nine years - 7 of them with this. I'm still only 20 so I don;t have the money to buy loads of gear. Metallica is old school for me. I grew up on them and found it sometimes tricky to get a tone that's close even with the EMGs. But playing with some of the effects has influenced me to try a lot of new stuff. I'd like a left and right output ideally. I threw the voice piece of shit gimmick out after a week. If it were stolen I'd try something else cos the multifx market is so heavily saturated. Prob a pod. The amp sim on the zoom is pretty pants, but it still sounds ok direct into a fourtrak. Ok but very digital.

Distortions, despite the variety, are a little weak, but the rest is pretty good. Like another guy I'd recommend it highly to the not metal experimental player. Not sure u can get them any more. Might put mine up on ebay.

I used to own a boss ME-5 and thought it was easy to use, but this thing beats all.

Sound Quality : 5
Well, it is something that can be discussed. Pre-amp, delay and all modulation effects are quite good, but with my Jackson PS2 (Schaller bridge humbucker) and HH musician combo, I just can't get good distortion. Everything sounds too "digital" and annoys me pretty much. I'd prefer to have good dist like Metallica in early days, Testament, System of a Down, but no way for that.

Reliability : 9
I used it for three years with no problems at all.

Customer Support : 8
Site is good, manual is easy to read and understand, but I cant find good patches on net.

Overall Rating : 8
For metal/hard rock, you can find better. But I think that strong distortions are zoom's only weakness. I experimented with other dist modules and than I was more than satisfied. I got sounds ranging from B.B. King, Brian May (thanx to great harmonizer) to Naplam Death (with Boss Metal Zone in front of my 3000) A definite choice for a non-metal guitar player. Metallers can have cheaper solution, without buying additional dist pedal.

as processors go, this one is pretty easy to edit, however you might spend a lot of time tweaking it especially for live use. The presets will need some modification for louder applications. the manual is very detailed and easy to understand. i also like the analog parameter control.

Sound Quality : 7
i use a peavey tube preamp into an old carvin poweramp then to a 4/12 celestion loaded cab. i use the peavey as a "toneshaper" for the zoom for quick stage adjustments.the distortions are pretty good especially the pre and main drive set up.i mainly use the overdrive on the pre and the dist on the main and never run the gains at over 80%. it does a nice job of emulating a tubescreamer and the efx as a whole are allright, i really like the pitchshift effect for something different. on some of my presets i use the amp simulator and it seems to be kind of a parametric eq.
overall the tone is quite good and very versatile if you spend some time with it.so if you dont like to "tweak" then this unit is not for you.Unfortunately i live in an apt and ive never liked the tone of tube amp distortions at very low volume, no bass and sound like cheap radios, the same could be said for the zoom if one doesnt spend time editing it- but once you spend some time learning how to use it with your rig im sure you will be very happy. for the price this is a very capable unit.ive had no probs at all getting classic rock, blues and metal tones with it.

many sale guys (even ones that dont sell zoom) have spoken highly of them and my last zoom lasted 7 yrs. ive gigged with this and had no problems

well never needed it yet.

i have owned a great many amps and the probs that i have had are getting low vol dist, not just at home but even at gigs and mixing efx into the loop, but i also play pretty loud at times - so i need versatility! i have always found weaknesses in all my amps, preamps efx etc, and the zoom seems to be good middle ground.also i want to say that some of the clean tones on the zoom are outstanding. out of all the amps ive had including marshall fenders(many) music man a.d.a. crate sunn acoustic control randall, that i have the best tone ive ever had and the 3000 certainly contributes.the zoom doesnt do everything great and depending on tastes some things not very good. the real heavey distortions are awful and some of the efx could have better parameter control. and never:( set the preamp gain full out bad tone and noisey. the function switch serves as a bank down as well as an individual "stomp box" selector for efx modules.the noise reduction isnt bad i give it a 7. for the money this is a great device. its not the holy grail but it is a product that gives you a lot of cool options and some good tones until you find the grail. oh yea ive been lookin for about 30 yrs(

Very simple to use. Patch editing a doddle once you get in the mood.

Using a CHarvel CX291 with Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge, original Charvel in the middle wired out of phase with a Seymour Duncan Cool Stack in the Bridge. Currently using in line with a Crate CD50 stereo chorus amp. Have used it in the effects loop but you then have to use the Zoom to control the master volume. Managed a range of sounds from Metallica to Robert Cray. Distortion was surprisngly controllable and digital FX very clean. Can be easy to overdo the level of effect though.

I just got this pedal a few days ago, and it is the best multi-effects pedal I have ever used. the sound is extremely good, so i would give it a 9. the noise eliminator works like a charm, even with a guitar that has a really bad hum. editing patches is a little bit of a trick unless you read the manual. its great that you can add patches unlike some propriety pedals. the manual is extremely helpful, and tells you how to work everything you could possibly ever need to know about it, and includes a helpful preset patch chart. i have no idea what the firmware version is, it works just fine.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm using a stratocaster with a marshall park amp. aftually, it keeps a very clean tone even with a guitar that hums bad. the hum is flat out gone. the distortions and chorus effects work awesome. I wish the wah was a little bit stronger, but it otherwise sounds great. the amp im using it with is a marshall park amp. I have been able to get many good sounds, from basic fuzz that hendrix used to the famous boss ds-1 distortion tone used by kurdt cobain.

Reliability : 10
I would definetly depend on it. unlike some of their older model pedals, this one is designed for heaver use. they have added many good features - like a post to wind your power cord on so it won't just get pulled out.

Customer Support : 10
I haven't had any problems to need to deal with the company. it has worked perfectly for me, even through taking a beating.

Overall Rating : 9
I play many types of music. this pedal seems to cover all types of music. it has good subtle effects for classical type music, and good strong distortions for heavy grunge.

This pedal has been my first and only pedal so far. Being fairly versatile the ZOOM 3000 allows the user to get a grasp of all the guitar effects including a voice box. The pre-set patches are more than enough for beginners and advanced players alike and using it straight away is very easy. Even editing the patches couldn't be simpler. It even has an option to reload the pre-set patches again, so if you do mess up the patches you can always revert back.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a Washburn Nuno Bettencourt N2 through a cheap Hohner Panther amp (good for the price) and occasionaly put an Aria electro-accoustic through the ZOOM. The effects can be noisy at times but the ZNR (ZOOM NOISE REDUCTION) setting can help against this. The range of effects can be frustrating when trying to find the right volume level, for instance on many of the distortions I find the volume is lowered therefore not giving the distortion a Metally Rocky sound. The chorus, flange and delay are fine. The range of distortions is good. The reverb is average, but certainly not as good as a standalone. The wah wah is good as a starter but as with most digital wah wahs the sound isn't as lush as that from a cry baby. Generally the sound quality is good.

Reliability : 7
The ZOOM 3000 has lasted me two years with no problems so far. Although if someone spilled their pint on it I don't think it would survive.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't used the support

Overall Rating : 7
I like to play rock and blues to classical. This pedal is quite a good mix with its range of effects and if you don't like the effect you can tweak it to perfection(or near perfection). The best thing about this pedal its the range of effcts on it, its certainly competitive, but if you would prefer a more classic sound I would go for standalone pedals. If it got stolen I would be incredibly annoyed and probably get a more expensive, classier pedal.
Nevertheless I would highly recommend this pedal to anyone considering purchasing a multi-effects pedal.

Quite easy to use, you dont need the manual for the basics, except for the RP01 pedal. The manual covers four languages on one page, so as a non-english you have to flip often. They spend a lot effort on explaining the basics, I missed the technical parts.

Sound Quality : 8
The speaker simulation is good, the best I've heard yet. The distortion sounds are good at high gains, and with the gain the quality gets lower - at low gains the sound becomes scratchy. The modulation effects are very good, especially the scale-based harmonizer, also the delay. The reverb is not natural enough. The compressor in the pre-distortion stage is actually a limiter with very little effect.

Reliability : 6
I would not rely on the RP01 pedal cable connectors. The footswiches appear to be solid.

I play a wide range of styles, mostly rock and fusion. I use a Ibanez RG560 with a SC-HB neck PU. As I intend to use the 3000 for direct recording, I edited the sounds at home over a pair of B&W DM603. As a sound reference or goal, I name Van Halen and Allan Holdsworth, and you can get quite close to these with the 3000. Because the compressor stage does not work so well, I would suggest to use a separate one.

I'm using a Fender Squire Strat Affinity series and an Audition 110 Peavey Amp. It is not very noisy. I disliked the distortions. The time based effects are pretty good. The expression pedal is a nice adition, but doesn't work fine. The vocal effects are usless.

It looks reliable but I would use a backup.

I play rock, flamenco and jazz. I've been playing for 10 years. If stolen or lost, I wouldn't buy it again. Even more, I'd think twice before buying another Zoom product. I love the easy of use, I hate the distortions. I also own an RP-7 that is by far much better. I'd like better distortions. It doen's help me too much with my music.
If you have any patch for it, please e-mail me.
