Gives you a lot more control than other chorus pedals. In addition to the rate and depth you can adjust the tone of the effect and it does not effect the non-effected signal. This is great for for making the echos sound dark and somewhat analog. You have a mix control so you can make the effects very subtle, or very lush and dramatic. You get 5 chorus types and a straight delay mode.

The only thing i can't figure out is the footswitch input. I figured out is requires a momentary switch, but when i engage it it defaults to the chorus reverb mode. Does it use a dual footswitch? If anyone knows the deal with the footswitch input please add it to this review page.

This pedal is digital but it doesn't mess with your uneffected signal like many digital pedals do. I have a good ear and I am am certian that the dry signal has an analog through path.

The chorus can be very lush or very subtle. It reminds me of the shoegazer bands of the early 90's like cocteu twins, slowdive, kitchens of distinction etc... I'm showing my age here, but it is a great sound that would have required the most exspensive rack processors of that time to create. This pedal truely gets you there if not better in terms of tone and sound quality.

I like the the multi chorus and dimension modes best. just big, fat, lush chorus tones, with the dimension giving more vibrato to the sound, and the multi employing multiple oscilators to create a very complex sound.

All of the sounds are usefull. The chorus delay is like puting a short pre-delay in front the the chorus sound and the chorus reverb mode is mainly a reverb with a bit of chorus in front of it. The aura mode is the same as the reverb mode but uses a reverse gate reverb. Lastly the delay is just a great digital delay, It will never truely run-away like an anolog but instead just keeps adding on top of itself until it becomes so noisey you switch it off. It is usefull if you set the repeat just before this "infinite repeat" setting and play melodies it becomes like a loop that continuously but very slowly morfs.

Reliability : 10
This pedal is the exact opposite of other zoom products. The housing and switch are metal and very thick and heavy. A big tank of a pedal made to last. I have seen some that are pretty beat up and still working fine.

Probably the best floor pedal chorus ever made. I wish zoom had made more pedals in this series. there was just this and the zoom driver as far as I know.

Simple w/manual. Otherwise you might not know about the footswitch option to toggle between 2 saved 'patches'.

Easy to use controls and options.

Awesome! Had one a few years back (was stolen along w/everything else I had on the road at the time). Finally found another in 'new' condition for a great price...jumped on it. One of the best chorus sounds in a pedal I've found - no noise, doesn't kill the original tone...great pedal!

Reliability : 10
A brick! Don't expect to ever have an issue with it.

The current ZOOM/Samson/Hartke company umbrella sucks. Rude, hostile and unpleasant upper management and staff. Ran several 'artist' individuals out of their booth at NAMM 1/06. Will never buy anything 'new' from them...present products are cheap, unreliable and the company is unpleasant...dissappointing.

Overall Rating : 10
Great 'vintage' pedal. Don't know why ZOOM went away from the metal housing and great tones to the cheap plastic junk in present production. If you can find the older 5050 I'd jump on it...destined to be a classic like the Arion grey case chorus from the early 80's.

This pedal is amazing. Its very easy to set your sounds and dial them in. The manual is very easy to read and understand. Ive had mine for about 8 years now.

Sound Quality : 10
Iplay a fender strat with a little59 in it. This pedal has no noise. THIS UNIT HAS A VERY STRONG OUTPUT LEVEL. I have a Marshall JCM900 WITH JCM800 CABINET. I can get just about ant chorous sound I want, anything from 80's to new modern. I really favor the multiple chorous setting, and I also love the delay setting you can get some of the best sounding delays out of this pedal.

Reliability : 10
This pedal is very dependable. Ive owned mine for 8 years now and the only thing Ive had to do to it is tighten the input and output nuts. Its built like a tank. Yes I have for 8 years now.

Very easy to use even without a manual. Easy to get/edit the sound you like .

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Washburn ( Nuno Bettencort model ) and a Fender Stratocaster and i can definitely get the sound I'm looking for. I prefer the reverb/cho effect cause it goes well with my Fender Princeton Chorus amp. The multi chorus and delay is really good but the rest are quite weak.

Reliability : 10
I've been using my Zoom Choir for more than one year on gigs and recording and it has'nt given me any problems at all so i never use any back-up. With a metal body i think it will last long.

I play a wide variety of music (from Ballads to Heavy Metal) and i can always get the sound quality I want. I own a lot of Distortion pedals, like the boss metal zone, procorat distortion etc. and i must say it goes really well with distortion pedals. The best thing I like about the Zoom 5050 is that it is very easy to adjust/edit your settings if you want a quick change of sound quality. I'd definitely buy another one if I lost it cause I use it as a base for all my other effects. I'd recommend this product to any guitarist because it sounds good in recording as well as when playing live. Definitely one of the best pedals I've own

Very easy to use, 4 nobs: effect level, depth, time, and (the best!) a eq nob! That little nob makes this thing go from digital to analog sounding with a simple turn. Also has a mode selection nob to go through the many vhorus/reverb/delay combinations. stereo outs, 1 input with a footswitch in to bounce between 2 saved patches. A great box!

Sound Quality : 9
Just superb. better than aything I have ever heard before, the choruses are plentiful and lush...the 2 secound delat is great too!I have sued this on guitar, drum machines, bass, and vocal and they all sounded significantly better through this! It even rivals my EH Memory Man for smoothness!

Reliability : 10
Well, it has surface scrathes all over, but it still holding togheter perfectly. Made from metal and heavy, great!

This is a fantastic box to own. I was very skeptical since it had the zoom name on it, but this is nothing like those crappy 505 series pedals. It ios metal, sounds great, has awesome control, and is just the best. I havn't seen too many of tehse around anymore, so they will be collector's items for sure! Just a great pedal...

Very easy. The program function is great: you can switch between clean, manual effect and programmed effect. Very useful indeed.

Sound Quality : 8
Fancy digital sound, I'd say. The two reverb modes are mixed with chorus and echo, which is nice on clean tones, but I wish it has a separate "clean reverb" mode. The delay is great (1000mx max) but it's mono (all other effects being stereo) and you can't do pan-delay and play things like Yngwie's Echo Etude. The dimension and aura function is not very useful: I can't feel the difference with my setup.
Very quiet.

Reliability : 10
Very sturdy.

Overall Rating : 8
I bought it in a sale, so for the price I paid, the sound and the variety of effects it delievers is not bad at all. I used it mostly as a reverb/chorus unit, and it does it job well.
