Awfull quality and effect realism. That litlle box has plenty of effects so it's very versatile, but if something has a bit of everything and is made for everything it usually fits nothing like that piece. Such a crap as autowah or compresser I never deared to use in gigs as they were bad as nightmare. I was only satisfied with reverb, defret and chorus-2 effects, maybe the built-in tuner, too, other sucked a lot.

Plastic switching pedals are not the best choice. It workes normally only when the ground is stable. The digits in on the display are too weak to see em in a hard sun.

I play funk, jazz, world. This effect pedal isn't good at all.
I'v been playing the bass for 5-6 years
I someone would steel it from me, the only thing I would be sorry- the money I spent on it.
I can only suggest to others-don't byu it. I play kind of Pastorius stuff on a custom shop pickup equiped Fender Jazz Bass on a Gallien Krueger 240W 400RB/155 amp, and I hated the sound I got. Without that crap my sound is clean and live, I rather suggest to byu a one speciffic effect pedal.

very very easy to use, staright out the box, plugged in and made weird and wonderful sounds within five minutes. editing patches is easy, but the different modules mean you cant combine some effects which sucks. the manual was good, but not really needed.

im using a cheapass ventura bass and a peavy amp. the pedal really is very very noisy on some settings, especaily the fuzz and other distorions. the annonying thing is the different sound levels of the effects, you could play one effet swicth the pedal to another one and it can go really quiet, easy to sort out, but a drag when there are so many presets. i normally play indie, rock stuff so i can normally get the sound i want easily.

not playing gigs yet (still practising.......) but proabbly would gig without a backup, like everyone else said the plastic case is a bit dodgy, so i cant jump on it like my guitarist does on his marshall tank! still i have had it for 6 months and never had any trouble

overall it is a great pedal if you are on a budget!! it is my first pedal and i willprobably go for one of the other, better zoom bass pedals in the future when i can afford too. im only an intermidaite bass player so it does everything i need. i love the crazy effects you can get out of it, E1 and E3 for example, although i couldnt put them to use in a piece of music, its alays good to have common effects too, delay, chorus and destortion. having the pedal has defeintly made me more creative and aventuorus with my bass playing which cant be a bad thing!

it's pretty simple to use. i got a good sound from it out of the box. just a little fine tuning and i was ready. realtime editting is a drag though. it's hard to fix your sound onstage with the few buttons it has.

i use it with a sansamp. it sounds great with my ibanez eda5, but it was hard to find a good sound with my fender j5, even with fresh strings. some effects are interesting but pretty useless, but try it with a mic and see how fun that could be. the octave and pitch effects are a little too subtle.

i've only had this for a couple of weeks, but it's been holding up. i'm just worried about the plastic housing, and if my firmware has any glitches.

i can play RageATM to TowerOfPower and sound like the cd with this. but i'm a very active performer, and i'm worried about stomping on it too hard. i have a bfx708 and the edge it has is that the comp-limit effects are now separated from the dist effects, so you can use both at the same time. although some controls have been omitted, like the effect mix level and parametricEQ controls, i can't get the same sound out from the 708. i just wish it came with the adapter, or maybe if it were operated by a 9v like other effects. 4 AA's are hard to change when your onstage and in a rush.

I'm using with a Yamaha motion bass. Some of effects are very noisy. When I plugin to my mixer at home most effects sound great. When I gig, those effects which I can hear clearly does not comes thru when other member are playing. However this unit does improve my sound as it compress my sound and eliminate the problem of one string sound louder than other. Like some previous poster, I could not tell the different between Amp on or off so I just leave it at off.

I do use it without a backup cause I can just hook directly to my amp if this unit fail. I only use this on one gig so can not comment yet.

My trusty old Sans Amp DI died. I was angry cause I thought this unit is build like tank. Those it is not Tech 21 fault cause previous owner open up unit and did not put back all screw cause the XLR connector to break. Anyway, I was in a crunch so I mike my amp. Next thing I know, the PA guy say he like the mike sound better and asked if I can just mike my bass. Since I don't have to worry about my output to PA any more, I find it a good excuse to get an effect unit. I check out BFX 708 but did not want to pay $30 more for the pedal so I end up with the 506. I want to say I love it but I will need some more gigs to really be sure otherwise it is a fantastic value.

It's pretty simple... I could probably get my mom to be able to use it... (She's still having problems with my CD player!) The manual helps a bit, too. I never would have known about the pre-select feature, or anything else for that matter...

I'm using it with a lil' Peavey Microbass amp and a Squier Jazz Bass, and it sounds pretty good. It's great for the money. It came with some interesting presets, such as E1, and it's fun (and easy) to make up your own little effects with it. Currently my best effect is a Flanger Distortion (yes, it's homemade)...

It has presets, so you don't have to mess around with it if you aren't picky. But if you are, it still is relatively easy to get your effect. The editing patches are good. As for the Manual, i really haven't read it, but i've figured it out by the seat of my pants.

I am currently using an unknown 4-string Galveston Bass and a peavy amp. It can be noisy, but it never becomes a cause for concern. the effects themselves ranges from a nice vintage feel, to a full-on distortion barrage, and all sorts of effects; you pretty much have everything if you aren't TOO demanding. I try to replicate tones from TOOL's Bassist, Justin Chancellor. i can sound pretty similar with the proper tweeking. all the effects should be good enough for the Beginner to intermediate player.

I've never really abused this pedal. It has a plastic top, and a metal underside. it has messed up lately, but i think the cable i'm using is to blame, not the pedal itself, i'm not sure. i wouldn't use it on a gig without a backup, but i'm more cautious then most people. this is probably the only area in which this pedal is below average.

It works for all styles of rock. It is dynamic and easily edited. For the price it provides many easily accessable sounds. The durability, however, is its weak point. If your looking for high quality be ready to fork out a lot more than a hundred bucks!

A lot of bang for the buck. Can't complain about this thing at all for the price. Sounds great with blues or metal. Takes a while to set up patches to my liking , but again, can't complain for the price. Seems to be fairly solid for a plastic body. Wish it came with the AC adapter.

Overall, for a person in a price crunch like me this is a very good pedal. It's worth it, but, maybe, if it wouldn't take you much longer to save up another $100 or so, I would buy something a little bit better. And, to be honest with you, I have always considered bass effects kind of a rip off, we used to always use guitar effects for bass and I had to give this a try. It's good.

It is nice and easy to use, and fun to play around with. I really enjoy seeing what it can do and combining the sounds. I don't like the action of the pedal - it is not a decent click, it is just a sold squish, and you have to look at it to check it has worked. Overall though it is good.

This has lots of cool sounds, but heaps of the create so much damn hissing and popping that I just turn it off, because it annoys the hell out of me. Clean sounds are basically no use, you might as well bypass it, but this pedal is good for chorus, octave, overdrive, wah and some of the weird synth things. The amp settings are just gimmicks.
Through a Roland 'super cube' this thing creates piercing feedback whenever distortion or any crazy effects are applied, but it is fine through my Marshall B150.
Not the greatest sound quality, but decent for the price.

It seems solid, and although it is made of plastic it is very tough. I seriously recommend the power adaptor, batteries are an expensive part of this pedal. I wouldn't depend on it on a gig, but thats just because it may create unpredictable horrible feedback or noise.
