This is the very weak point of this pedal. To use the presets is easy, just tap on the up or down buttons. Up to 24 presets. But I like to tailor my effects as does everyone else I assume. This is where it sucks. You WILL NEED the owners manual to do this. If fact every time I want to change something I have to get it out and follow the instructions. They can be downloaded at the Zoom website. Do it or you will throw this out the window.
Upside: once you change parameters & save them, they stay in even if you pull out the battery.

The reverbs are very good for a cheaper cost unit. Very adjustable parameters, 4 Halls, 4 Rooms, 4 Plates. And each one of those you can adjust reverb decay time, tone & wet mix. I like the Halls & plates.
It also has delay & chorus built in too. I really didn't like either of those. The chorus is either weak & thin or has alot of noise when cranked up. The delay has a background clicking unless you set the delay time pretty short to like a doubling.
I base my 9 on the reverb effects cuz it is labeled as a reverb pedal. I think Zoom added the chorus & delay as added features to win buyers over when shopping for a reverb pedal.

It's made of plastic, probably not intended for a traveling pro musician.

I would only use or recommend this as a reverb effect. For that it sound s very good. The Halls & plates are very realistic and lush. And with 24 spots to save your settings you can have a wide variety of sounds at your foot without even having to bend over.
Once you program what you like into this thing it is a great little affordable effect. I wish it was easier to change parameters. It would have been better served to leave out the delay & chorus and just added more types of reverb and maybe a predelay parameter.

just use your ear, try to cut high frequency,
i was on emergency situation my lexicon lxp5 had a problem so i did buy the zoom 507 for reasonable price, after 6 years i'm still happy with it, it is also suitable for classical guitar and voice.
people how criticize this pedal are probably amator in music business, obviously you get what you pay but in this case you get more of what you pay!
the zoom 507 reverb is good effect perfec for emergency situation, for that price what can we buy today? it is very easy to edit, considering i never had the manual,

i'm a professional musician from the old school, so i play whatever pay me it means many styles
it is a goog match.
if i could find it, yes i would buy again!
i love it because is small, light and sound good enought!
when i play live i need few reverbs so i use the one i have edited, but normally i hate the plate reverb, but not only the zoon any plate from any make, personally i do not understand why people use the plate as in my opinion it is much better than plate not reverb at all.
i knows and i have many others effects the zoom 507 it is the cheapest, i do have many very expencive ones like different lexicon etc..,

im playing this through a engl savage 60, and a marshall 2x12 cab, i use to own some rack gear before for effects, had to sell it fotr money issues, and bought this cuz i wanted some cheap reverb and delay pedal for my solos.
goddamned i wish id never sell my rocktron intelifex, that unit rules
sry to say, the zoom 507 sounds like shit, id say get a 2nd hand zoom 707 (2), there some nice sounding delays in that unit, same for the reverb (i owned the 707 (2)so im not talking shit here), but the 507, nah dont get it, they probaly didnt discontinued this for nothing.
and i can see why peeps like this unit, its nothing against zoom

It was pretty easy to use. Not very difficult. I really like to edit the patches untill I get the perfect sound so I find it an ''easy to use'' machine.

I really love what that machine does to my Combo. I've got a cheap conquest which sounds really awfull but this machine makes the sound that comes out of the speakers a bit more quality. I think it is a great machine for the cheaper combo's.

I think the unit is very easy to use. You just have to STUDY the small manual and the program it to your liking. Once you place your presets at the front of the cycle, it's just a matter of turning it on and clicking left or right.

Unlike everyone else in this review thread, I actually have a monster rig. I don't have a 15 watt 'Champ', and I don't play ancient folk whatever. I have an '86 Ampeg V5 with 4-6550's, running into an angled '77 Marshall vintage cab with greybacks. My preamp is the SIB Varidrive pedal(class-A tube overdrive). My rhythm tone can destroy all but a few high-doller high-gain amps.. The original 5150, maybe a VHT with KT-66's, and perhaps a Bogner Ecstasy. I have infinite headroom, infinate clarity, and all the power/gain you'd need. Think arena.. Anyways, my point is that you can't hear the beauty of the Zoom 507 unless you use it appropriately, with a great rig and the environment that compliments it. The color this pedal provides me is damn near perfect. I don't believe you have to have a super-expensive effects rack setup to get great effects. The flexibility in this pedal for the money is in a class of its own. Why should I haul around some 12-space MIDI rack setup with a power amp, preamp, and the effects, when I can take my small amp, cab, and two pedals? I've had the arena rig and this in my opinion rules by far. I can get tones anywhere from A Perfect Circle and Tool all the way to King's X. One thing I must say is that you have to know how to manipulate the effects provided. If you have a good ear and understand delay and reverb, you can do wonders..

I HAVE NOT been playing for 35 years. I've played for 6, and toured for 2. I practiced hours upon hours a week for years, and now I can enjoy playing anything from Al DiMeola to Strapping Youg Lad. I know good equipment, good guitars and good effects from experience. I know crappy stuff from observing the mistakes of many. If you aren't out to get very complex effects, look no further. This unit can do probably anything traditional, and definately anything modern in respect to typical spacious effects. If you want really off the wall effects, get a G Force or something in that realm. If you want simple color, simple functionality AND a built in tuner, get the 507.
Your results will definately vary upon the amp and chain you run it through. I think that holds true for any effects unit.

MMM it takes some time and patience for you to learn how to edit the patches, just like many multi efx or twin pedals like these of Zoom. But having the manual it can be actually quite funny.

I use some guitars and amps I like a lot. Zoom 507 is actually a really good reverb unit, however, at the time I bought I use to think it was the most fantastic pedal ever, But I believe that pedals like the new Digitech Reverb of the X Series Have now surpassed this one, but this one is still Not a bad choice for Reverb , and for the price I'd say it was fantastic ( back when I bought in late 1997 ). I agree with a post below, saying that Zoom should have never discontinue this. Not all reverbs work well with distortions, but the ones which do, do it Really well. I also like the Delays , altought the Delays on the 508 unit are much better, but I still use much of the long, trippy Delay + Reverb pateches I have created for this one for some solos and bits. reccomendable pedal if you want Verb ( altought I still believe that Digitech X Series is still better ). Zoom should re-issue this.

Not much reliable as it is plastic, however, if you treat it carefully, it will probably last long. I have mine for 6 years or so. the only problem that ocasionally appear on these Zoom pedals are buttons sticking, but you can pull them back using a small thin

Overall quite great stuff ( not THAT fantastic, but still good ) altought If it was lost or stolen I'd go with a X-Series Verb instead, unless if Zoom re - Issued this Verb as 507 II or such !!! This pedal is impossible to find new nowadays. I play mostly Metal, and effects are to me the least important part, I believe that this pedal may sound not as great for too exacting people but for my needs its the perfect Reverb unit. great with distortion, good delays for solos , but for more on delays check out Zoom 508

This unit is very easy to use - as long as you have the manual with you! It is easy to get confused and not remember the patch you want, like D1 is reverb and D2 is doubling. There is no logic in the predefined settings. I did once program a different effect, a single slapback echo which sounded good, but a glitch on the obligationary 9V supply wiped it out. Apart from these gripes, it is easy to use.

I use this effect mainly to add some reverb, either the subtle plate or the spacious spring reverb to my 20 watt LANDRY tube amp to add a bit of additional depth. I also use the chorus when I fingerpick. The guitar I use is a Washburn HB35S and the combination sounds very very good. Sometimes I include a Fuzz Face clone (with genuine AC128 germanuim transistors) for a heavier sound and I find that it is important to first play through the Zoom and then through the distortion pedal to avoid a mushy discordant sound.
For time related effects, in my opinion, digital sounds far better than analogue especially 18 bit 128 times oversampling that the Zoom 507 has, no hum pickup from springs or sound degregation from tape loops.

The plastic box has taken a lot of flack, but I treat all my equipment with care, so it is not a problem. I would not trust the unit with batteries because it would not last a 30 minute session. The tendency sometimes to lose the user programmed patches also is a negative factor.

I belong to a church group and mostly play light, undistorted songs. I enjoy the additional depth that this effect adds to my amp and have become totally reliant on it for this reason. If it had to get lost (or stolen), I would have to get another one.

I play a celtic harp and sing, I put my voice through the Zoom and get great results - just wish I could have an adapter to put the harp through it as well, as on test drives it is awesome on the harp as well. I use a small battery Jansen amp, and it gives a reliable good sound. Over time I have had many compliments about how well it sounds.

Celtic and contemporary music, some medieval songs which sound great, been playing professionally for 5 years now, and always had good comments on sound quality. I would by another Zoom 507 without hesitation, I love its ease of use and reliablility, especially like the standard settings selection (not having to fiddle around too much with it). When I bought it I took my gear in and sat and tried every effects box in the shop, still liked it the best. As I said before maybe a double adapter to run two channels at the same time, I would like that. Have been really impressed with the sound and the idiot proof-ness of this unit. Very happy customer here!

I have a 61 fender Pro amp without reverb. I don't want to lug one of the reissue 63 reverb tanks. I also can get very sutle verb and delay which sound clean and airy. It also has the tuner and defeat switch which gives me solid pro tube sound. Very nice

I use it with my Fender guitar with Dimarzios in it and into my ART Xtreme then to my Super Phaser(PH-2) to my Zoom507 with a footswitch for the stereo Flangers and Chorus included in this unit. It makes my sound a lot wider and bigger. I use it with diff. amps like Marshall, Peavey and Fenders. It can pretty much copy and make any sound i like.
