im using my friends amps, 120 watts, not sure what brand, with a very old memphis(practice, 6 string) or an Ibanez 7 string(shows, practices when i used the 7th string) or my friends schecter(7 string), when i first turned it on, it was wicked loud(got major feedback), then i turned the volume down a couple notches and it was fine... the distortion is great, dont know why other people are having problems with it, all those other ones work fine to me, dont really use em, mainly i use flanger and distortion, sometimes delay...

i've used this thing survived several shows, its survived all of them.
its plastic yes, but metal would be too heavy to carry around. mine only has a couple of scratches on it, all these other people claiming to have it break, well maybe if you werent a fat ass 400 pound moron, stomping the crap out of it, it wouldnt break on you...

Mainly i play Nirvana, korn, guns n roses, and white stripes. Anything else i play is made up by me, or one of my other band members. i've been playing for about 3 years now, i've got my memphis, my ibanez, and im thinking of buying my friends schecter(7 string), if i lost it, or it got stolen, i'd definately buy another one, A) becuz im cheap, and dont feel like buying a better amp for home practice and B) my band is cheap and isnt gunna buy a synth.
i'd definately say it helps out the smaller bands, that dont want to pay alot, its cheap, reliable, and works great. if you use it right, you will definately get good sounds, and it wont break on you.

Easy as hell to use, but hard to get a good sound out of it. The manual is very comprehensive (I guess...), but doesn't help to get a good sound out of it. Also, the footswitches are too small - you can't really use it if you're wearing trainers.

I use:
Ibanez RG2570ex
Squier Strat (new pickups, though)
Laney TF700
and sometimes plug it straight into a Peavey 1600w PA system.
The effects are...I suppose...OK for playing at home, with headphones or at low volumes. Once you start battling with a drummer, you get a horrible squeaky noise. Good job I have decent amp distortion!

The pedal occasionally cuts out on me, but with a wall-wart its fine. Having said that, some friends of mine gigged with them, and I can't begin to describe the problems they had with them!
These aren't made for gigs!

I play thrash metal, if I was still stuck in my bedroom then this would be good...
I've been playing for 2 years, I own the gear as I said above
I wouldn't ever buy this again, if it was given to me I'd use it as a Beer-Mat or exchange it for a real product
The only thing that I use this for now is as a tuner... and it even fails quite badly at that.
This was a present, so I didn't choose it.
This only gets in the way of my band's creativity - at practices its just feedback after feedback.

i've been playing for 3 yrs. from now (im only 17 yrs. old)..I own a marshall amp i forgot what type it is, cavin guitar, k-7
i would kill who will do that.......
i love the 7th metal distortion and the pedal pitch
what i hate is the slow attack effect
7th metal distorition w/ wah pedal
i compare it w/ zoom 4040, zoom707II, 505's, i choose zoom606 because it's style and features unlike to zoom 707II it has a sampler i don't like samplers
i wish it had a talk box and yahyah pedal like in Digitech GNX-3
it helps me in playing w/ my guitar

Very easy to use. Just plug your guitar on it and start playing.
Editing patches is also very easy. You can use a preset as a starting point, tweek a little bit to get your sound and store it over a patch that you dont like.
The manhual is very simple and you only need to read it once.

I've changed my setup recently to a computer driven configuration.
So, I use a Ibanez G10 with 2 humbuckers and plug it into the 606 and connect the output direct to the line input of my soundcard ( I have a pentium 4 with no other special component for home recording . My computer has 4 JBL speakers ( very good sound quality )
It is a little noisy at some high gain settings even with the ZNR activated.
The effects are good, but you will have to spend a little time tweeking to get the most out of it. I used a Ibanez TB15R and the results were good, but now, directly to the computer ( or with headphones ) it sounds better. Thats because the computers output sounds stereo and the 606 has stereo effects.
I've found an interesting kind of setting that gave me a tube like sound ( direct to the computer or headphones only, dont work well with amps ). Just turn all the effects off, set the eq to 11, the contour to -4, the drive to US blues ( gain = 30 ), ZNR to S9, the wha to P9 and the pedal assingn to the drive position. You can add a little reverb to it ( H2, time = 6 ) or change the drive type end gain level. To my ears it sound like SRV tones in my setuo. The wha works like a filter and bring out the presence feel of the tube amps.
I think the 606 lacks a 4 band eq, instead of the parametrical eq, and rate and depth controls for the modulation effects. But for the price ( US 100,00 new )its a deal.

I think I can rely on it at home, but it feels like it doesn`t hold a live gig, mainly because of the quality of its input and output jacks.

I play jazz, fusion and blues stuff ( scofield, stern, SRV, cray etc ). I've been playing for 15 years ( I am 28 now ). I have a long experience with stompboxes and other multieffect units ( ZOOM 707, 1010, 7010 ) and the 606 is a very good deal.
I love the marshall and the amps simulation. My complain is about the lack of a 4 band eq.
Comparing to the 707 it has the possibility to get a wha sound with chorus ( 707 don't ). I hate the 707 because it has a sampler, but it is a 6 seconds sampler!!! Totally useless!
It sound much better directly to an headphone or computers or a PA system. Use the amp sims! You will get there, just tweek!

i dont limit my self to one style of music but i love a mix of funk rock and metal.
been playing 14 years more than half my life(im 21)
if it was stolen id by a rak mounted fx unit
the main problem with this is if you bypass the unit it sounds crap so i had to make a bypass switch so i could get a nice clean tone.
the best thing about this unit is being able to use the expression pedal to control the amount of effect such as fading in distortion for a peak.
still a good value unit for the price

First off, I'm writing this to defend it against the previous "not so intelligent" people who badmouthed this before.
Has so many effects, only a person with intelligence would know how to modify it to their setup to make this thing sound great.

I am using my RG470 Dx with thisand my marshall stack and it sounds awesome
Once again, if you have the intelligence to understand this unit(unlike the previous reviewers) you can get beautiful sound.
Also make sure you have a good setup, because the kids before me have all whined and bitched but their equipment sucks, so make sure you get some high quality equipment.
As for distortion, for those of you who have this, I find the G6 setting incredible for anyting metal or rock. Once again, just mod the eq to your setup, since some amps suck at low end.
the noise reduction is also incredible.

ive used this things at thrash and hardcore shows
it survived
its good enough for gig.

I use a Schecter 38 special and an Ibanez 7 string AX7221. Into a Kustom Quad 100 w/dfx. Very quiet dues to the adjustable zoom ZNR noise reduction. This pedal is awsome for metal and dropped tuning. The metal 7th amp simulators is the shit! has a very high gain triple rectifier type sound on the metal 7th setting. the fuzz setting are ok, the distortion setting are pretty good for van halen and 80' rock. the blues setting is fine. these amp simulators are really decent. I'm not trying to say that this is anywhere near the quality of Roland or Digitech multi-effect units but for jamming in your practice spot or with your buds this pedal will give just about anything you'll need. i don't think it would be pro gigging material. I mean I would not try to use it for a live out door thing, but for jammimng in the garage or a small club this pedal would do fine. The fuzz sounds are a little weak and sound very processed and cheap, the distortions are great, the clean stuff sound real nice.

The unit is made out of heavy plastic with a metal bottom and sub chassis inside of the unit. the pedals are bolted on with allen head bolts so I think they will stay on. I have dropped this and accidentally tripped over it and kicked a few times and it has held up, never lost a patch or skipped a beat. Once a patch is set you dont lose it like some other units.

If i lost it or if it were stolen I would buy another one because it has held up nicely and it sure does sound better that my Digitech RP 200, so I would reccomend this to new and experienced players. If you are used to individual pedals like I was then it takes a little getting used to but once you get the hang of it the individual pedals start to get played less.

My setup is simple, a very old Yamaha Strat (don't know the model, but it really rocks!) and 2 Keyboard/PA systems, Peavey KB/A 300 and Roland KC300. As you expect, i'm not a full time guitar player and sold my amps a few years ago when i needed money to buy a Synthesizer. I borrowed the Zoom 606 from a friend and used amp/cab simulator with the PA system leaving EQ's intact.
In my country there's a phrase for what i obtained...
?How can you obtain butter from a pig?
The presets are definitely horrible, no complains about that. But, as a keyboardist/synthetist i learned a lot about editing patches and taking the best of my machines. I worked a lot and obtained very decent sounding distortions. The secret is the PA system, because the only way to obtain a great distortion is the amp/cab sim, and this feature works horrible in a dedicated guitar amp.
The effects were fair, just what i needed... they are not as flexible as other effect units, but they are fine anyway...
I'm not saying this is a professional unit, but for the Price, you can obtain a lot more than cheapy presets. Just tweak it, take your time and the pig will give you butter...
Reliability

Plastic made... but stable... since the unit is borrowed, i'm trying to keep away from jumping on it and hitting it hard.
This unit is more "trouble-free" than my synths and keyboards (A few months ago, my synth crashed dramatically when i used it in a very cold stage, and it costs 15 times more than this cheapy effects unit).

I play a lot of styles in guitar, keyboard and flute (recently). I've been playing for about 8-9 years and heard a lot of effects and instruments. One of my friends used the Zoom 1010 and we hated it 'til the day he could sell it. The Zoom 606 made great imprevements from old units like 505 and 1010. ALWAYS REMEMBER: Don't expect a professional sounding unit, if you want a great sound, you need to spend more money than you think. This is a great starting unit, you just need to tweak it...
