I use a yamaha rgx 420 d6 and a crappy encore strat copy through a laney HCM15R. Im not going to even try to explain how crap it sounds with my encore.
Distortions: I think these totally suck. I only ever use The bg distortion(probably mesa/boogie type)for heavier stuff and the MS(probably a marshall emulation) for lighter stuff. The other distortions are just so unusable espesially the fuzz dist which should have been called the FIZZ.
Oh and if you think you can gig with this thing THINK AGAIN.
crank the volume up past five and its muddier than a pig in cow shit.
If you want to sound like britney spears breaking wind in the bath then please feel free to buy this hunk o junk, however people who want to sound good look elswhere. modulation effects are pretty turd aswell. delays are ok but i stick with my dd5 thank you very much.

Can i rely on it? Hmmmm......
NO! i think ive only had it for about a year(dont know why i still have it!) and the jack sockets are already fukd up. If i want it to work i have to kick it and nudge it or fiddle around with the jack leads at the back(i have to do this every five minutes by the way!). just imagine your playing your favourite tune and the solos coming up.
you press the patch change switch but, Oh? whats this? There's NO FRIKKIN SOUND!!!! Oh its also made out of plastic :)

The only thing that is good about this pedal, is that it is kind of easy to use, just tweak a little here and there and you'll get your sound(yea right, i don't. Really this thing sucks, check out sound quality)The manual is kinda easy to understand, but they could have made it idiotproof

At this moment I use marshall combo amps, a yamaha tele, a Gibson les paul custom, and a esp ex 350. For effects i use of course the zoom 606 and a bunch of others in my studio. I might as well say it now: THIS PEDAL SUCK ASS!!! Really, if you play it at high output your sound becomes too muddy, it squeeks like hell, and it's just totally f*cked up. For in your bedroom it's kinda oke if you play it at low output. But it sounds so, so, so digital it's just crap. I'm a hard metal guitar player, and i got this one for my 17th birthday( i play guitar for 6 years) I think my mother was drunk or stoned because this thing is totaly not worth your money, i'dd rather spend it to buy a gun and shoot me in the head. really i wouldn't recommend it to any one. Just buy boss stompboxes. And mt-2 or ds-2, they rock

This thing is such a failure if it comes to multi-effects. It sound so crappy and it is so fragily. If it was stolen i'd hunt the guy down and shaked his hand, and maybe invite him over for a beer or something. It is just really the biggest piece of crap that you can buy, and it's really not worth your money

Storm Les Paul- zoom 606- Peavey Bandit 122
The effects are quite good for this price, but the distorsion is absolutly bad. if you want to use it for gigging or practising at a loud output, just forget about that, and more if you play hard rock/metal stuff. the distorsion is not good for this... But just fot taking it with you to practice everywhere at low output or with headphones it can sound perfect.

As i've said for metal/hard rock, just forget this pedal... just go for MT2, or anythin like that that is also so cheap and sounds better. If it was stolen or lost i wouldn't buy it again, actually im going to buy t Mt-2 and leave this just for practising on holydays or things like that...

It's a fairly easy litte thing to use, I picked it up in about an hour or so, The manual is a must have when your not used to multi effects (im an all single effects guy).
editing patches can be a lengthy operation took me 2 days to set from A-G up, A being distortions, B being Modulated Distortions, C is basic modulation effects set clean IE: trem, phase, flange, pitch etc etc, D is left blank so I can gear up stuff so they are in order for quick changes, E is set factory with the wacky SFX sounds took disto off some, F and G are also set the same most with minor tweaks and stuff set to my liking.
As long as you have the Manual you can get by just fine, but without may take time.

I would never gig with this, I ONLY use it for Recording when im doing gigs I use my single effects rig:
Boss dd-3--GCB-95 original crybaby--Boss Mt-2 MEtal zone--Boss GE-7 EQ, Ibanez PH7 Phaser, Ibanez CF-7 Chorus flanger (set on flange), Boss Ce-3 Stereo chorus and a Boss Ac-2 Acoustic Simulator.
The zoom would be way to hard to use during gigs switching through patches and junk, and it's also plastic I like to stomp this im always scared to touch too hard or use the pedal too much.

I really like the headphones jack, hell you don't need an amp.

I use a crate GX212 amp with a Squire standard double fat strat (I hate single coils)... I bought a Digitech RP200 and decided to stick with this one because of it's sound. Felt like something was missing from my RP200 that this one has... Very strong effects, although the delay kinda blows and the autowah does too, unless I am doing something wrong... It has presets or certain artists, but I forget which... The different distortions are very good, you have many ways of tweeking them... I play punk mostly and I can distortions ranging from Green Day, MXPX, and Good Charlotte...

when you plug it in, its pretty easy to get sounds, just scroll through the presets using the foot-buttons. however, i like making my own patches to suit my own style, and that takes a little work- so i give it an 8. after getting this down, it gets easier. following the manual helps, but you just gotta fool around to get to know it.

i like the sound of this unit. i was expecting the drive (o.d., distortion, etc.) to sound harsh and industrial- like the first zoom 505, but it does not. well, a few will if you EQ them that way, but overall the dirt sounds pretty good, especially after editing the EQ and contour. the beaty of this box lies in its modulation effects. so many to choose from, and most sound good. the pitch shifters are o.k., good enough to use for a few songs. i am getting sounds to suit my styles after editing patches. the factory presets are the norm- some good ones and others just crazy sounds to show off the units insane side. it'll work well for crazy sounds, but the modulation sounds are pretty sweet.

i will depend on it, i'm not sure i'd use the wah gigging, i'd use another to save the wear on this one for at home. so far so good.....so what? that doesnt mean it'll still work tomorrow, but i hope it does. its plastic, so i wont treat it like a metal stompbox, i'll just make sweet love to it in the cool moonlight

overall, i got it to have the many sounds available. i like being able to add the sounds as i want, without buying 30-some pedals (thats thirty-some...not 3some, but we could talk about that too)
i play metal/rock/blues. it works fine. the o.d. and fender-amp sim are pretty good considering its a multi-effects. if it were lost or stolen i'd notify the F.B.I.- STAT.
it does help make music, because instead of fiddling with wierd sounds for hours, i create patches for my taste and just write music (with many sounds)
i would like to share something else....but only with the ladies

Just plug it and you get a correct sound out of the first patch (OD+rev). You cycle back and forth with the left pedals. Globally easy operations. Editing patches is straightforward if you have tried other multi-effects. Manual is terse but ok.
Something's missing: a volume control (or I'm too stupid to properly read the manual). That's a shame given that, by nature, a distortion effect increases the volume.

I use Rickenbacker 620 (solid-body) and Godin Artisan TC guitars, and Fender and Rickenbacker amps (basically very clean and bright). I wanted some kind of multi-effect who would give me an extended spectrum of sounds, and ideas, in order to refine them later with better quality equipment.
Frankly, the tone is just average. It sounds ok at first, but just try a soft wah sweep: you can _hear_ the bits. There are gobs of distortions and I use the funniest of them, the others beings laughable but not enough. Weird effects can be selected, like a kind of 12-string emulation (well, rather a Martian emulation...), combinations of wah/flange/whatever...

I play a lot of stuff, mostly psychedelic/experimental, sometimes crystal-clean, sometimes raw and dirty. What I like is the compacity of the box which packs a lot of features for its size and allows for easily trying new sounds. What I dislike is the tone and the plastic. This is not a professional tool and while I've gigged twice with it, there won't be a third time.
The audience is obvious given the presets (distortion galore): kids needing an entry-level multi-effect. This little box fits perfectly the bill. Me, I'll keep using it as a testing tool during rehearsals, while my old Quadraverb and other stomp boxes will give me the tone I need for production work (gigs, recordings, etc.)

This particular multi effect pedal is more than easy to use. I'm a beginner guitarist and had no problems with setting it up, editing patches or using the pedal itself. The pedal comes with a manual consisting of 40 pages, and you can also download one from the Zoom website.

I'm using a Yamaha EG-112 (2 single coil, 1 humbucker). I still haven't got a amp, so I'm running it through my HiFi. I tend to use the humbucker pickup mostly and it sounds great with it. Despite the fact that all the effects are digitized, they still kick ass. Currently I'm playing stuff ranging from Rammstein, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, GnR to Santana, etc. The sound is, if not the same, nearly close to the sound of the above mentioned. The really cool feature is the expression pedal, you can assign wah, drive, mod/pitch, delay/reverb and volume to it. The only problem so far is the volume, one millimeter back of forth on the pedal and you can cut off the sound completely. Also, changing between the distortion and wah patche can be rather tricky if a certain part of the song requiers an wah effect.Otherwise, no objections.

The casing is made of plastic, but still, it is very sturdy and resilient. Bearing in mind that you use your foot to change the effects, when you hit the switches or the pedal, you could swear that it is made of something more durable than plastic. I still don't play any gigs, but so far this little unit is very durable and I don't se a reason why I shouldn't use it live.

I'm playing mostly rock music, classical rock and from time to time industrial rock (Rammstein). I've been playing for a year now, I still consider myself a novice in the field. If the unit got stolen or lost, I would certainly get another Zoom 606. It really is easy to use, it creates a fab sound. It already comes with a factory preset of 42 patches, but you can customize the sound to an infinite number of combinations/sounds just by turning the knob and pressing a few buttons. The main reason that I bought this unit, other than the price, was the fact that I'm playing all sorts of music. I could have blown 100$ or more for a Marshall distortion but that's all I would have. For this price I have a distortion, wah, volume and and equalizer to name a few that an average guitar player needs/owns. I would definitely recommend this unit to a beginner and to an average player as well.

It can be easy to use, except for the volume and tone controls. Adjusting
the master volume, or changing the patch level volume requires quite a
bit of effort. A dedicated control for volume would have been nice.
The controls for equalizaton are quite counter intuitive. The EQ follows
a preprogramed curve and I can't quite visualize it as a number, especially
when it involves scooped mids. Adjusting it by sound isn't too easy
either as the audio gets muted as you are changing the settings around.
I'd rather have the two large footswitches to change the settings while programming so
I can play and adjust at the same time. The expression pedal isn't as
useful as one might think. There are only 5 or 6 levels of variation
the pedal can produce. It's not usefull for wah as there is a significant
delay before moving the pedal will result in a change of tone.
Sound Quality
:

My favorite effect is the Fender Clean drive. It pushes the lows, scoops the
mids and pushes the highs and without sounding too digitized. The digital
reverb is relatively noise free and sounds distintly different from
the average spring reverb, but in a good way. The acoustic drive is too low
in volume and very digitized. I don't like the distortion settings.
The output of the pedal is too high with distortion on. Switching from
clean to distortion will blast your eardrums off and clip your preamp
if you don't drastically cut the patch volume. The chorus effect is poor
compared to a good analog effect. The octive effects are fun to play
with, but are very noisy as well. Mixing the ring effect with delay
will create all sorts of scary sounding Sci/Fi horror sound effects.
This pedal has many many effects that can be arranged to form a wide
array of interesting sounds, just don't expect any effect to be perfect.
