Zoom 606

This unit is simple, for the most part. Very easy to get some really nice sounds out of. Editing can be a little time consuming but should be easier with more practice. Manual is very helpful and very detailed.

It has some awesome sounds in it. I'm using it as a BASS effects unit so I'm loving the Bootsy Collins type sounds. I'm using an Ibanez BTB and a 1,000 watt Behringer BA410 with Bugera speakers. Some of the effects are ALOT louder than others, some of the distortion settings need their volumes adjusting which is simple to do. The tuner is a great tool too.

Haven't had it long so I can't give it a rating here. Bought it used at a yard sale for $8.00 so I'm not out any big dough if it crashes on me

I've had no need for customer support. Manual was easy to find and print though.

I play in a southern gospel group and am the bassist for our churches praise and worship team. I'll use some mild effects such as reverb and amp simulation. I love the tuner too. It has made tuning between songs a snap. Outside of the group, I love funk and this little box gives me alot to play around with.

Bought it 5 years ago. Probably the easiest effects unit i have owned. You can assign a task to the expression pedal with one button press!! Very easy to use! You already know the features of this pedal so i go on to the sound quality section.... I have to say though that it has 35 effects, 11 classic amps simulation (Boogie,Marshall,Fender, Peavey etc.) plus a built in tuner!

For its price i don't think you can find anything better! It costs as much as those crappy metal zones etc. or less if you buy it used and it sounds 10 times better! Plus you add effects to your sound! Very nice clean sounds, good blues sounds and defined lead and rhythm sounds suitable for hard rock/metal music. I bought a Boss Metal Zone 2 years later expecting to replace my old Zoom, but the Zoom left me no choice!!

5 years without a single problem! I don't even have to change batteries since i run it with an AC Adapter!

An amazing unit for its price. You have to understand that the future of units is in companies like this one. Boss, the dominator in guitar effects industry, has overpriced its products. Try this one and you won't be disappointed! Amazing value for money!!

For me it is pretty easy to get a good sound out of it. The manual is precise and it's idiot proof. Easy to save your patches if that's your thing.

I really bought this thing to use with headphones when I am travelling. However, it does nail the EVH and Jimmy Page sound very well through my Laney Amp. The only effect I don't care for on this is the preset blues. However on manual "US Blues" it sounds very good. Most of the time I use this with headphones. I have run it through Laney, Marshall and VOX Amps. I have an SG, two strats, a telecaster and a hollow body les paul. It's not noisy. I don't use all of the effects on here - most of them are pretty useless to me because I play blues and what I call no bullshit rock and roll. Right now I'm running this through a Laney LX65R.

I've had this for two years. Tough as nails. Whe I gig, I'm pretty much a guitar into amp type guy with a footswitch to go to overdrive.

I play blues and no bs rock. It's very good for what I got it for which is to play with headphones when I'm on a trip. Aside from what I mentioned above, I've got a bunch of acoustic guitars. I've been playing 40 plus years. I love it because it is small and I can put it in a suitcase with a good set of headphones very easily. It has everything I need.

I browsed the manual for a couple of times and i understood what it does. this was my 2nd multi fx toy. i first got a zoom 1010 but it got stolen during a gig, so i bought the 606. editing patches is easy. you just set the dial to the effect, and just press the value buttons. so convenient. also, it has a fixed value of effects, you dont have to adjust the feedback, rate etc. great for newbies.

i could pretty much come close to vai, satriani or malmsteen sound(though not completely similar), but hey, it sounds great nonetheless. i use alvarez guitars and peavey amps and i get the sound that i want. it sounds noisy on high level and gain settings. i recently sold it and bought a gfx8 coz i want to access patches easier and love twiddling with the finer details. but for newbies, you will sound great and will improve a lot, better than buying a lot of stompbox models, but if you have a lot of cash to blow you can do it.. anyway this is a good multifx, but for pros i advice to get gfx series.

i always carry a basic distortion and delay as a backup for gigs(you never know-accidents do happen) but it has never failed me for a year of using it in gigs. just be extra careful with it coz its made of plastic. a drunk ass has stepped on it once but thankfully nothing happened.

nah, i fix my own gadgets. if its just tack switches i can solder them without problems. i have known a store here that fixes digital gadgets but never ask them.

i play a lot of instrumental and rock, metal alternative music. yeah i got the sounds i want. ive been playing for 5 years its a cool fx but if your a pro i advise to get a better fx. for newbs this is cool. this is really cool for a 1st time fx. you get your basic chorus, distortion, dealy and pedal fx. i recommend it to beggining musicians.

What were they thinking when they designed this pedal. The only decent thing is that all the presets are all you can and need to do with this pedal so that means no bending over trying to figure out what effect paremetre you've selected. Well once you've read the the incredibly confusing manual (took three attemptes to understand what everything meant) its a doddle to use.

Well i used to use this pedal with a dinky litte Marshall MG10cd and it moade the litte thing sound like a fully cranked stack. Then i bought the fantastic Vox Ad30VT and thats when the feadback started. The only decent sound is the Korn setting which still sounds tinny. I use it like this Epiphone 1965 G400 reissue>Boss DS-1>Zoom 606>Vox AD30VT. The wah sounds like a cat in a dish washer, volume you would have to be pixie weight to make subtle ajustment too come on Zoom all your pedals can't be this bad.

Plastic is not a durible material. Cheap yes but in this day in age we need metal!

Steer clear! Don't buy this its the worst pedal ever built!!! Ok that is a big clame. Its ok but i hate it.

With regards to being user friendly, I would say iwould give it a 7. Well actually, it already has all of the required system controls for you to modify and cutomize the desired tone. I would say I have to browse several times on the user manual to accurately comprehend the configuration controls. The effects so far are already rich and powerful to start off especially for the distortion patches, you probably dont need to modify it in some way, not unless you are looking for your own signature tone.
For the Expression Pedal, it is quite exceptional to me. But i should have suggested for zoom to provide a foot switch for the pedal assign system for much ease of use especially live performances.
The only thing that bothers me is switching through patches, especially if the other one is located on another bank. Yes, it does have the patch call method but when you talk about Live, RealTime performance, switching sucks, I'm the front man in my band and play guitar at the same time, I always end up messing up my performance due to troublesome switching of effects.

Like what i said, for me. The sound quality of my 606 is very excellent. It is powerful enough to boost up my Small Marshall MG10CD practice amp. I even used it live and on rehearsals and it gave a very good quality sound. AS if my performance has improved dramatically. And the effects are very bright and solid I actually use an RJ Raven as my main guitar. Compared to the Denio analog Distortion pedal that I have, for some reason it is unable to achieve the razor sharp and thick tone on my small amp, instead giving an OD tone only, which pisses me off back in the days where i don't have my 606 yet. I would give it an Absolute 10!!!

I would most probably depend on it. But to tell you frankly, I never or just moderately really tested the true limits of my 606, when it comes to reliability. I purchased my 606 since 2004 which is almost 2 years now. No unusual tripping of the gadget yet. I made a customized durable nylon casing for my 606 with a hard and sturdy base as my pedal board. But the most abusive thing that i have done with the 606 so far when i used it on my band's rehearsal and i actually placed the system on the area of the carpeted floor which is still wet from the spilled soda from my fellow guitarist, it indeed still worked out fine. I'm afraid the plastic chassis of the product migh not withstand such rigors of the road or setup on stage. If I would give it any rating so far, i would most probably give it an 8.

I haven't tried it yet. But i wouldn't even bother going to them just in case. Firstly, zoom products are mostly japanese made, introduced and distributed. And try to figure out what reps would they have. Yep you got it. It is Language Barrier!!!!!!

For the Overall rating of my 606, i would give it a 9. When it comes to sound quality and the price, there is no contest compared to other effects. Who would ever think tagging a very affordable price on a digitalized muliti effected pedal all packed into one?! The only thing that i would comment on is that Zoom should improve on designing their system to make it more user-friendly and therefore improving the guitarist's performance further. Practicality and quality comes hand in hand with zoom, keep up the good work and keep on innovating. Kudos!!!!

In terms of programming, this is a huge upgrade from the 505, and that was simple to use but cumbersome. On the other hand, the "expression pedal" seems to have no usable function that I can detect. You can use it as a volume control, but it's not really controllable because tiny movements create huge differences in the volume. (There may be a way to adjust this, but I was and remain too disgusted to plow through that rather obscure section of the manual.) Why not have it work as a user-controlled wah-wah or a practical volume control? And by the way, you'd better have fairly precise footwork or you'll wind up activating the expression pedal when you're trying to switch patches.

I have an old Kustom K200A and a little Peavey amp. I don't think the 606 is intrinsically noisy, but when you turn up the gain you start getting sympathetic resonance from the guitar. Some of the effects are pretty cool--the chorus or flanger or something really does give that airy, spacy whooshing sound, the auto wah works pretty well, and the reverb is very effective. On the other hand the amp modelling does nothing that I can hear, and there are some effects that seem to randomize the pitch. I can't figure out what they're supposed to be doing, and I can't imagine how you'd use them to actually play music.
You can really dial in the amount of distortion by adjusting the gain, and if you're looking for buzzy, raspy distortion you should be able to find an effect that works for you. If you're looking for that juicy, throaty Bluesbreakers distortion...well, I can come close.

I don't abuse or even heavily use my equipment, so don't ask me about reliability.
If I were playing in front of audiences regularly I'd buy something better and use the 606 as a backup, and if I were making big bucks I'd get another of the better effects machines for a backup.

They're reachable and they'll talk to you. That's as far as I got with them on my previous 505 (bought used, so I don't know how much abuse it took before I got it) because they wanted more than it was worth to look at it.

I've been playing forever, but not well enough to play out. Basically, I keep practiciing in case I'm ever at a Smokin' Joe Kubek gig and he has a heart attack on stage and they need someone to fill in on a few 12-bar blues tunes. For that it's perfectly satisfactory.
If this were lost or stolen I'd probably hold off on buying another until I got one of my rare opportunities to play in public.

With it being a modulating unit, this was simple for the get go and was simply a case of plug in and play

Clean sound could of been better and sounded more like a bypass setting more than anything - the pre set patches weren't the best ever and often sounded the same and to be honest i don't think i ever swayed past the G options

After 2 years the jacks broke and then needed constant soldiering every few months. After 4 years the control dials ceased to work - something that was never fixed. This left me stuck with the preset dials which i had luckily changed over time. Finally after the fifth year the thing just froze and stopped working. The circuit board is just screwed in with two screws giving the impression that slight depressions of the pedals could often cause massive damage.

Dont even try.

Having played guitar in constant metal bands for the past seven year, I feel that I just grew out of the pedal. Great for beginners but it just doesnt cut it for anyone playing longer than 2 years in my mind.

certly it shouldn't be a g-force, but i have to say that, if you try to make a good sound you find it.
i like to play many kind of music and i made some artist sounds, like: satriani, vai, petrucci, malmsteen, van hallen....no bad.
this zoom can be very noisy if u can't set correctly...

I've been playng for 10 years more or less, and this was my first mfx...at this price if you take it carefully it's a good thing for begining...now i've got a boss gt-8 a marshall tsl_602 and the old ibanez rg270dx...don't compare

I suppose its easy to use, I only use the distortion sounds (I think all the other efects are quite poor to be honest) so it can be a bit of a pain having to skip through all the other sounds.

I use an epiphone les paul (with EMGs) through a vintage marshall JCM800 head and a relatively new 1960b cab.
The distortion sounds are very good indeed, in fact I have tried lots of other stomp boxes (boss mega-distortion, boss MD2, digitech death metal) and I have to say it was better that all of them.
Only problem is that the clarity gets lost a bit when I play live with a band.
I never use the other sounds so i cant comment on them.
I play mostly power metal (gamma ray, helloween etc.) and it does the job nicely, not quite the same sound, but I have pretty much given up on trying to replicate that exact sound.
The great thing is that its not too noisy.

Its currently broken because the input is jack is dodgy, so no, not all that great.

its very easy to use, just plug it in and step on it...

when i had this pedal i used it trought a peavey bandit and a fender mexico fat strat with a humbucker and a floyd rose.

i thougt it sounded good, until i played trought a "real" amp and "real" effects, then i learned that i sounds awful... all effect are really crappy and the distortion models are just bad!

I haven't really had any problems with it but i wouldn't gig with it, even if I had a backup...

Very easy, I've had the 505II before, you can setup with your eyes closed.

Setup: Epi Paula 100 into a Peavy Bandit 112.
AMAZING for a Multi in this price class, does a very good job in every way. I don't like Distortions I'm a OD-fan, but the Distortions are pretty good sounding. You'll get Accept-like sounds of it. Overall you can do any sound from Clapton to Kiss over to Maiden and Metallica or harder stuff. Nice funky sounds, too...

The 505II is also made of plastic and never dissapointed me. I think it'll be the same, so it's a 9.

I play (rhythm guitar)in a 70's 80's Hardrock coverband.
Sure, there are better Multi's, but in this league (Behringer X-V-Amp, V-Amp / Digitechs RP50/80 -I tried or had them all-) it's the best of all, especially if you want to play multiple built in Dist's and OD's. In this league it's a 9.

I have a Zoom 606, and I'm tickled to death with it. The pedal is very simple to use. Everything is pretty much spelled out for you on the face of the pedal. However, the book tells you anything else you need to know to make major sound changes, switch effects from bank-to-bank, etc.

I use a lot of different guitars with this pedal. What I find great is that you can take a crappy guitar and it will sound good with this pedal....and I ain't kiddin'. The unit is not noisy at all. The effects are strong....I'm able to get Van Halen sounds, Jimmy Page sounds, Clapton....you name it. I'm using the pedal with a Peavey 150 watt special amp. The only reason I'm not giving it a "10" is because nothing is perfect.

I've gigged with this pedal and had absolutely NO problems. I would indeed use it on a gig without backup.

Never had to deal with the company, so I've go no opinion on this one.

This pedal is a good match for ANY style of music. I've been playing for about 20 years. If it were stolen, I would cry and go buy another Zoom 606 or maybe a more deluxe model, but it would still be Zoom. I love the way this pedal actually improves my playing by improving my sound. The pedals are a wee bit small, but it is nothing that can't be worked around. Hey, though, the size of the unit overall is one of its selling points. This unit definitely helps me make music. Again, only reason I'm not giving it "10" is because nothing is perfect.

Pretty easy to use, though you have to keep in mind not to max out on the gain since it can get pretty noisy.

Here's my set-up: Strat copy (S-S-S) -> 606 -> Digitech Bad Monkey -> Washburn Bad Dog. I can get a pretty decent sound here though it leaves me wanting on the dynamics since I can't make it scream and wail on pinched harmonics as compared to when I use an analog distortion. The Metal distortion can sound pretty good if combined with the simulation of a stack amp, but I have not much use for it since I mainly play blues and hard rock. I like the Zero Noise Reduction because it is really effective especially that I'm using a guitar with single-coil pickups. I use the 606 with the Bad Monkey to fatten up the sound and to make the distortion from the 606 sound more "analog".

It rates pretty poorly here. The 606 was actually loaned to me by my bandmate since I have no distortion pedal when I joined the band. The input and output jacks are really unreliable since they aren't as sturdy as analog I/O jacks. Now I put a thick sheet of newspaper under them to have something to support my 1/4" jacks, otherwise, the sound just gets cut off. Oh well. I have to bear with it until I save enough money for a pedal of my own.

Another thing is its casing. It's made of plastic which can be pretty unrealiable if you're gigging as I am. The I/O jacks acted up during more than 5 gigs already. Now that's pretty bad since our band put an emphasis on setting our gear up quickly so we can start our set immediately.

If this were stolen or lost, my bandmate would kick my ass. LOL But if this were my pedal, nah, I wouldn't think about buying another 606. I'd rather buy me an analog one.

The pedal can help inspire you though to get some weird and cool sounds when you experiment with the other effects like the pitch shifter. On the economic side, you can save a lot if you buy this instead of buying loads of analog pedals. Aside from that, you can get a new sound by simply stepping on the footswitch. But soundwise, if you like to do pinch harmonics on your guitar or if you're a tone freak as I am, you'd be left wanting on the distortion side of this pedal.

Lastly, you might want to consider buying an effects pedal that's "built like a tank". This one isn't. Always bring a back up when gigging with this. As I mentioned earlier, this pedal has acted on me in several gigs already. You don't to look stupid on stage do you?

Very easy to use and edit. Online manual is great and the book came in a few lauguages. The only thing I wish they made bigger was the button to swith the expression pedal mode, I find I need to play with a tip on my shoe to hit it and switch to wah-volume mode. Other than that I like the layout of the controls and the two knob controls are nice to use. Dual foot pedal switches and one expression pedal to control stuff from wah, drive, mod/pith, delay and volume.. Lotsa stuff you can control

I use my vantage strat copy with this unit and it sounds really good. Some effects sound really processed and I can hear that they could sound better but I like the really cool synth like sounds and noise gate that really makes the guitar sound weird, definitely needs a digital processed sound for that. I find that it takes me a while to get a really good distortion sound but it's easy to play around with so it doesn't take too long to play around and get it right. No amp, straight thru my computer and 5 watt speakers or headphones, sometiems I've used Revalver program with it and can get some more neat sounds out of it. For the money it was a good investment in what I play at the moment and not have a million little pedals and power cords going everywhere. I find the expression pedal to be okay, I haven't yet tried out 'just' a volume pedal for swells to Xanadu but this unit seems to be okay for the expression pedal touchy/feely wise.

So far I've used this unit for less than a year and it's been great. Some paint chips I've noticed, very small. I've only taken it out once and it it was to a college party, beer nearly got spilt on it, but it survived the abuse and is still playing.

Have not had to deal with them yet.

For my first every effects pedal I purchased, it's great value for the money.. I was thinking of just getting the lower one, but I've always wanted one with a pedal to do wah and volume swells, etc.. so it was definitely worth the extra money to go for this one. Not much I can change about this unit and its great value for your money, definitely a great first guitar effects unit. Wish I could download/upload patches on the computer and then I could save & call up even more patches, but it's not hard to right stuff down on a pad of paper. I play mostly Rush and hard rock style music to just jamming out stuff, and this covers it all from their begginings to their 80's period up to their current Vapor Trais & Feedback album so this pedal can do quite a bit.

this pedal is VERY easy to use, no problem here. i rated it a 5 becouse it is not easy to get a good sound out of it. the manual is allright, if u understand how to use the a processor its not really necessary though.

i have a gibson epiphone les paul, and a fender princeton 650 65 watts. the problem i have with the processor is that if i have the eq one in both the processor and the amp, the sound is really ugly. i always turn the eq off in the pedal. i HATE having to do that. that eq really sucks.

i play power, progressive, rock, blues, jazz and really almost anything.ive been playing for 2 years, one of then with the pedal. if it was stolen, well i would probabbly buy another pedal. FOR ALL OF THE BEGGINERS OUT THERE, dont scare off with this review, i really liked it at first, but its not the processor that u might have for many years. its a good first pedal to have. if u want a really good one, save a little more and buy a boss gt8 or a digitech gnx4. this is the second review i post for this pedal, i wrote the first one when i just bought it.

If you got your PC to show this page in your browser you'll get your 606 to work in no time. The equalizer is a pain however.

As much as you can expect from a digital device..
Distortion effects are nice, some are even close to realistic (Metal7th), given a good input sound (do not even try it with cheapjack pickups, you'll be sorry).
Everything else is of acceptable quality.

I'm playing rock&hard-rock stuff and this gizmo does nicely for that. I suppose it'll do for anything just as well.
Functionality is great; it's sound is not exactly analog-like, a little artificial, but for such a nice price that seems more than enough.
So, overall.. it's not something you wish on a professional stage, but go ahead and conquer your neighborhood (or school.. or whatever) with your sound.

I have tried to create my own patches. The problem is a considerable loss of dynamics as compared with regular stompboxes.
Some of the effects sound too "plastic".

It sometimes seems erratic (e.g. the guitar tuner). Don't know if it is starting to go south.
I would not use it on gig, more for practical reasons than reliability reasons. I will use stompboxs instead.

I mostly play 60:s rock using clean sound with delay/reverb/chorus and slight overdrive on solos. The 606 doesn't give me the sound I want, so I'll use stompboxes instead.

Been playing for over 40 years and have a Squier Tele and an Epi Les Paul that I play through a JJLabs 100 W SS amp. I also use an Aria digital delay pedal and an old Ibanez 3 effect pedalboard with compressor (that I don't use), "tube screamer" and chorus.

If it were stolen I wouldn't buy the same again.

This is my first experience of a multi effect and I haven't really tried any similar products.

well there are many sounds in it, so you may like at least one or two, editing patches is easy if you read the manual, that is the key tool to understand the unit,pretty good manual, basic knobs and buttons that allow you to experiment and t get great sounds from it.

I use this with a Jackson KE-3 and a laney hcm15, since the jackson came with really hot pickups any distortion available will sound like a demon just released. No problem at all, just reduce the gain until you like it. the unit is not noisy at all, if you use good cables adapters, and don't use it with anythng broken(a broken pickup made mine scream like a banshee when compressor engaged).

To all the people standing here to compare this pedal with other units, if you were expecting to sound like pros, or like using a huge analog pedalboard, you maybe are a bunch of idiots, obviously this pedal was made to experiment practice and maybe play local gigs, not to clone steve vai tone or to do huge arena gigging.This is adigital and cheap unit, all what you need to begin and to experiment, not to take you to the rockstar levels.

the distortions are really good, the marshall drive gives a decent sound and the fender clean sounds really nice. however, wah sucks, since it doesn't have much range. the pitch sound a little synth-like, but the other effects work really well with the adequate tweaking. The ZNR is great since it destroys all the noise produced by the use of many effects, or hi-gain distortions-

I shoot this directly to the amp, however, I recommend to try it also with some stereo headphones, since they give the real unit sound, or put it through the clean channel of your amp.

This thing has got artist distortions from EVH(good),Randy RHoads(good), Jeff Beck(cool, with pitch), Steve Vai(awesome with whammy effects), Korn(good if you like such a thing),Led Zep(very good), Hendrix(not so good, not that bad),and clapton(sucks totally), you can get also sounds from iron maiden, metallica, megadeth, nirvana, and even, blink 182. very versatile

Distortions work great, and so does chorus and delay, the expression pedal is great since it allows you to control the presence of some effects(dist, or delay for example)in a more "gradual" way than a stompbox.

I take a lot of care of my gear, it is not made of metal, but it won't break unless you make an elphant stomp on it, or something like that.

i can gig without a backup, but try to keep an eye on it, since the bass player of other band, almost plug it,and...well is not the best thing that can happen...

There is no dealer here, these is Colombia so I can't get much customer support different from the shop where I bought it, but since I haven't faced a problem and no need of an upgrade, I cannot say much...

I play from blues to heavy metal and everything in between, as a digital beginner's unit, this is the best thing you can get, if you want better sounds, save your money and go analog, but if you don't know already how do you want your tone to be like, this effects will help you to know better sounds, textures and things like that...
it's better than a 505(expression pedal, more amp simulations, better voiced distortions), and doesn't have stupid features like the other zoom and boss digital units(no offense, but why would you spend more money in something with a sampler, or more effects if it still sounds digital?)so it's a very good Quality/price processor.
Som sounds of this unit can surprise you always, and this will always be a good idea bank, and even an inspiration since the sounds are so many that maybe you could be finding the new and ultimate guitar tone.

If it was stolen, I would probably buy it again, o buy something similar since is easier to set up than my chain of analog effects, plus my analog effects arent so many.

If you are beginning or need a portable emergency device this is your thing, if you can't find your tone and don't wanna spend your money in buying lots of analogs, try this, is the most powerful leatn-from-yourself device that i've ever met...

Very easy everything described in the manual a pretty self explaiitory stomp box, but i do think it could describe what the effects actualy are and do a bit better,i can see why that may cause some confusion to a amatuer.

I thought very good for what it is i have many pedal boards and many effects but i still use some of the zooms stuff, its pretty much an amp control system and the actual amp you use it through is more just a speaker.

mine wasnt too reliable it broke after about a year and a half of intense use is sent it too get fix and they didnt do a brilliant job as it didnt last long then it broke after the warrenty ended

Pretty easy ONCE you read the manual. If you can operate your average mobile phone, you'll get the hang of this in no time.

Using a MK4 Mesa Boogie and an Ibanez. ZNR (zoom noise reuction works surprisingly well), all effects work well, even thought the unit is on the cheap side, which I was surprised to find. Distortion is fine but irrelevant since I prefer the the main lead channel on the boogie for rythym and lead. Have tested it straight into a PA and it would seem that any cabinet sound your after is possible within reason, Many diff options for distortion, EQ'ing etc.

Thrash, Hardcore, Punk. Been playing about 15 years on and off. Not a massive effects fan as i think they have limited use but for getting an original sound that combines technique and effect they can be handy for certain song passages. Choose because it was reccomended by a mtae who said simply "It's an effects pedal, it works well, it's cheap and it hasn't broken." That's pretty much what I want, the rest is icing. btw, the sci-fi and trippy effects can work great when thrown in bridge sections or to trip out more basic riffs.

Well this has to be one of the easiest units i've used. I got it and learnt how to use it within the hour. :-P

Well i havn't been playing for that long. It sounds great through my little fender strat 10W practice amp, and the ZNR seems to work. But can get a bit noisey on the higher gain effects (understandable though) when using my 600W. It has a lot of wierd and sometimes wonderful effects, but then some of them can be rather naff aswell. All sounds are a bit digitised, but then what do you expect from and #80 unit! Im quite happy with it.

Well i've had it for a day now, and it hasn't broken or caused me any trouble yet. But then i havn't gigged with it or flushed it down the bog as yet.

It's good for practice and you can create some good effects. But if you were looking for a non-digital sounding unit, then this isn't for you. Also it is an active bypass unit which can be a pain when the battery goes :-)

This one is pretty easy to use.Ok, I've never seen a processor this easy to operate.I even don't have the manual, but it took me about 20 minutes to figure out everything.

Great for beginners like me, and so it is for professionals, but if you have enough bucks, go and buy a Boss GT-8!
Each effect sounds just f***ing good, and please, if the distortion is harsh, just get the gain a little lower!And it also has the mystic ZNR thing(Zoom Noise Reduction, !!!NOISE REDUCTION!!!), just use it!

They say it's plasic. But if you don't jump on it or use it as a ball or whatever, it won't get destructed. And just use it carefully, that isn't a hard work, I think.
I'd surely use this pedal for a gig, but jus CAREFULLY!

I play progressive metal, especially Dream Theater, and they use every tone that exist in our small universe, but I can reproduce them quite easily, of course a bit lower quality appears, I use it with HI-FI. :-( The only thing that bothers me that the expression pedal could be a lot better. I mean it's not bad, but the wah feature is really sucks for solos around th 20th fret. I just don't hear the difference, otherwise the it's good.
And, please, those, who write that this pedal is a shit, and then write they have a gear like Mesa Boogie or Marshall + a Fender Stratocaster, why don't you buy something else insted of using Zoom, this is a company producing effect pedals for beginners.
I play for 2 years, really feeling like a beginner, but that processor sonds so great for me, even with my 7 string Squier Stagemaster. A Digitech distortion dies under the weight of the Seventh, but at Zoom even the blues drive keeps working under playing The Mirror(howevever it sounds really funny).
This pedal really rules especially for such a low amount of bucks, I offer it for everyone playing guitar for a short time yet or having an underweighted wallet.

It is pretty easy to use, very basic, but still good. It gets a bit confusing with the patches and stuff but otherwise it's very simple to turn the nobs and adjust the level etc. The instruction manul isn't very explanitory.

The sound quality is good enough for a begginer. you have enough choice the sound is good, but there's this static in the backround when you plug it through your amp, and use distortion.

I've only had it for a couple of days, and even though it's plastic it looks indestructable.

I play metal, but i'm learning blues and stuff, it's very good for a begginer, with the number of sounds, and i'm very happy with it. It's cheaper to buy this with 35 effects, than to buy 1 pedal with like to effects. I compared it to lots of other pedals but this was best for value. If it were stolen, i'd claim on insurance, and get a better one.
