Getting different sounds is fairly easily but the distortions don't seem to let enough bass through but I have not tried to mess with the EQ in it because I can't imagine going through menus and stuff with LED's and buttons since computers came along.
I think I will try and do some more editing beyond amp sim and noise reduction settings.

I run a old Peavey Dyna Bass in passive mode (I don't hear enough difference in the active electronics other than more buzzing and hiss?). I gave up my Carvin stack years ago so I run direct to a HD audio soundcard instead of a 4-track mic pre. I rarely will put a Behringer MIC-2200 in front of it and a UB-802 after it for tonal control.
As I said above, the distortions seem to not let the umph through and I need to explore the editing functions to see if I can fix that. I used to play with a pick and use distortion 80% of the time but that was 20 years ago and I gave up the pick and most of the effects after I learned how to actually play the instrument. That being said, I like a good Cliff Burton/Billy Sheehan distortion sound for shreding once in a while and for hammers and other weird unconventional bass doodling.
Like most seasoned bass players, effects become less important that getting a decent tone and I find myself screwing with EQ and compression more than cliche sounds like chorus and reverb (which I hardly ever apply to things in the lower registers). Still, I have sung though it (I think) and done some experimental stuff with this unit and can create some really cool but undeniably digital sounds.

I have been playing the 607 for at least 10 years or more and it is mint. I have had a Zoom 3000S for closer to 15 years (or more) and that is almost mint as well. I stopped playing out years ago and never put these through the torture my boss pedals used to tolerate. I will use the Zoom pedals while recording and if they die I will figure out if there are any free VST's I can use in my DAW for recording. I am still stuck in old school mode for guitar and bass effects for now.

I play all kinds of styles and just weird scratching noises and stuff...
Compared to pedals it's a tough call. The boss pedal board I had filled was more flexible when it came to routing and was easily tweakable as well but a pain in the ass to set up and debug if something was wrong. I paid probably a couple grand on that setup over a few years so cost is no brainer with this unit when it comes to bank for the buck.
I wish it had preset slots that were blank but everyone seems to fill up user banks with **** I don't want to erase for some reason... I need to get over that I guess. I is definitely a cool little pedal and seems to have enough editing features to overcome any that it lacks.

I really like the quality of its sound, but one have to mess a bit and find his/her own sound because the presets aren't that special.
The only thing I dislike is the little humming on some effects, like a guy said before in this thread. I really wish to have the sound like ALEX WEBSTER ( Cannibal Corpse ) have, I am very close but I am never 100% happy with the sound.

10000% RELIABLE!
the zoom607 is a hassle free product and never gave me trouble, exept when I was going on tour and had the airport marshall thinking that it is a bomb!!
I would go without a backup because I trust it and take care of my stuff.

I play death metal with a Maltese band named Arachnid. I've been playing the bass guitar for 5 years and played everyday since then. I own a TORQUE 200W amp which with the 607 is best friends. If I loose the 607 I would buy another more recent zoom pedal, if there is any, but if not 607 again!
I wished that it could be possible to combine to DRIVE effects ( or whatever they are called ). If there is something similar please contact me on my email address to help me do it on vb32@onvol.net

It's easy to use because it's a very simple device.
The manual is fine - it's well written

I am using a Warwick Fretless Streamer Bolt On into the Zoom, then into a Trace Elliot 715 combo.
It is not noisy.
My main gripe is the effects. I have not really found a sound that I am interested in. To be honest, the main reason I still use it is for the tuner. Any of the presets are either lame or too crazy ever to be used in a practical situtation. The wah is pointless. The delay only goes up to 350ms, which means a lot of the stuff I had hoped to try out can't be done. Plus, the delay is quite weak in terms of the feedback strength.
Distortion is not something I use on bass, so I can't comment.

It's as good as anything else on the market these days.
I would use it without a backup because I have a pocket tuner!

To be honest, I was just messing with the idea of getting a bass FX, and was not that bothered. I have a Zoom 8080 for guitar which I've had for years and found mostly excellent, so I went for the brand name. But if it was lost, I would not buy another one. I should have spent more time with it in the shop, and then spent the money on a hair cut.
If I were to go again, I would look at possibly the Boss GT-6B, but this is a different market, and costs a lot more.
However, for the moment, I will keep it because I am a hoarder, and maybe I'll figure out a sound for some song on it one day.

it's really easy to use, read the manual once or twice and you'll be easy on it. Ofcourse you'll need to review it more if you're planning on editing any patches... all in all using it is a breeze...

To get the my desired effect, i set my amp to all 0 level... My band plays punk-ska likes of Less than Jake, Mustard plug, Hippos, Mad caddies. I like mixing my own thing to get a unique sound. I like the dist. and enhancers best, oh the pedal pitch is kinda cool too. The wah and flange really annoys me, the pedal for this stuff is not so accurate.

I already went to a couple of gigs with this thing and it haven't failed me yet... I play with the heavy dist. on live and play with the enhancer on recording, works great. I can go on without any backup. Only problem is the wierd occasional feedback, i dunno maybe it's just the amp or somethin' or the unit itself...

I've been playing punk since high school, I'm 21 now and still rocking and the 607 is compatible with me. If my stuff were stolen I wouold but the same set-up again, yeah after I killed the guy who stole it. It's so easy to use, I love the dist., yeah full gain! great on live. The pedal control for the mod is a drag. The tuner is so useful. I'm suppose to buy that zoom bass effect product before the 607 but when the guy at the store recomended this to me and played with it for a bit then I bought it. I wish I had this 2 years ago. Bunch of effects on one compact thingie. It do helped my band 'cause before my bass sounds totally blunt.

Editing is quite easy...i just have to read the manual first coz im new to these multieffects--digital gadgets. but its really easy...the manual really helps you get around the whole thing.

I use this with guitar...my bass player let me use it, for now. My setup right now is STRATCOPY-->CryBaby Copy-->Nobels ODR1 Overdrive-->ZOOM607--->Peavey Amp(not mine). I only use, mainly, the chorus(c1) and tapeEcho(E9)...and they sound nice, actually. there are also some patches where i assigned an octaver w/ Fuzz, a Pitch shift & a pedal Pitch(whammy). On all the patches i use i have the compressor on and ZNR and the all patchlevels are at 27.
I think, for now, the chorus and delay will do but i hope i dont get stuck with this thing forever coz...ITS a BASS Pedal.
somethings that disappointed me are the wah(the pedal really sucks...too small), the distortions(well theyre made for bass), and phaser(i was trying to get that sonic youth "diamond sea" intro but couldnt get it).
i use it in my band...we play a mix of funk-rock-alt thingy. and when we do covers..we mostly do redhot chili peppers(bloodsugersexmagic....one hot minute era). we sometimes do some rage against the machine and other stuff...but now we try to write as many songs as possible....
by the way the tuner is pretty useful..

all in all....chorus and delay are pretty good and useful...not exactly what i had in mind but it works. ive been playing since i was 12 or 13 and im 21 now...i wont say im a rock god but i could say that i could jam with other musicians.
if this thing was stolen...my bass player will kill me.
what i love about it...errr....cant pinpoint....i hate the pedal...its not good for people practicing on using the wah....my fave feature would be the tuner...it really helps a lot. i also tried out my bassplayers zoom708 (or707) for bass. i think this one is easier to use. i wish it was an Electroharmonix Small Clone Chorus and a Vintage delay or TapeEcho.
other things to share......nothing...thats all guys....maybe some guy here who also uses this for guitar can give me some tips on making the distortion effects work on a guitar amp...

I use this thing for guitar, with my Epiphone Demon guitar in to a Crate MX120R solid state combo. That, my friends, is a very cheap and very loud setup. I play glitter-punk and glam rock, and I LOVE the way this thing sounds, but you have to understand that it is digital as hell, almost like that "Money For Nothing" sound. That sound just happens to work very well for what I do, there is nothing approaching organic distortion sound here. I'm fond of the various distortions, the talk simulator, the eq and the chorus. Most of the other effects are crap, but I'm still in to this thing. A very fun lo-fi digital toy, if you're in to that. I also find the tuner very convenient and reasonably accurate.

I love the digital trash sound I get out of this thing, but many people wouldn't be in to it. I've been playing for a couple years now, but I make no claims about having skills, I'm very much a balls-out-power-chord-jumping-up-and-down-showman rock n' roller.
I bought it because it was cheap and sounded cool, and I haven't been disappointed in it. I wish it had a good flanger, and that it muted itself while you were tuning, but that's minor. I like this thing.

I found this product to be very easy to use. After going through the patches (the manual is a big help) I found that editing was a breeze. I was able to find several different sounds that I could and would use in a live gig setting. You must read the manual to get a firm grip on what this product is capable of doing.

I have an Ibanez bass that's 16 years old, broken in and has a voice all it's own. A Behringer EQ, Mackie 1400i amp, Peavey 1810 enclosure, Behringer EX2200 round out my rig. I noticed no noise while playing and the unit is stationary. However, I heard a lot of noise when the unit was moved. I suggest that you find an economical way to stabilize it during practice and in live situations. I especially like the chorus and delay on this unit. I was playing a show in Bankok, and my tech forgot to velcro this baby down, I moved to my left, it came off its post and made an awful sound. Other than that, it has performed flawlessly.

Relatively easy to get your own sound out of it if you've given the manual a once over. An untrained chimp could flip through the presets. The manual is short and simple, but that is really all that's necessary.

I am playing this with a customized Epiphone Powerbass II (the pickups are EMG's) and a Fender studio amp.
The effects don't sound that great, certainly not as good as if you bought them all individually, but consider the cost! I like this unit because it lets me play around with all kinds of sounds without having to shell out big for stomp boxes.
Not good enough for pros, but good enough for those who are learning and want to put some life in to what they're doing.

Overall, this is a great pedal for those who are past the initial learning stage, and really learning to play, but who still aren't gigging routinely and want to add some fun to what they're doing.
It's not good for pros, except maybe to noodle and doodle around with in the studio. You can get some interesting sounds out of it.
