I found this unit fairly easy to use
if you study the manual a little you will have no problems
The supplied patches are not all that usefull however editing makes them OK
the manual is very helpfull
i have read reviews that said going from one patch to one far away is hard to do....Read the manual people!!!
there is a setting on user confirmation that addresses this problem

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I am using a Peavey Odyssey>GFX-707>Zoom 9002>peavey special 112 pre amp>peavey 1.3K power amp> 8-12" peavey scorpion speakers in custom built cabs
noise gate is very good at it job
wah effect is very weak
distortion ..to many to choose from..only a few are useful
mod. effects are good
rev. sounds digital but ok
I dont try to sound like anyone else. I have my own style.
I use this settup playing classic rock and southen rock
and i find it works very well for me

Reliability : No Opinion
havent had it long enough to know yet
but it seams strong enough
some say not because it is plastic....look at the new cars they are building....plastic body panels!!!

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent had to deal with them

Overall Rating : No Opinion
already said my style
been playing for 20+ years...not an amateur
if it were lost or stolen I would buy another

pretty basic if you are just using for the programed sounds and the drum but the other options are pretty damn confusing i mean im not saying impossible but the directions made little or no sense. i would have been better without them

Sound Quality : 6
i was playing with a gibson les paul special through this and into a fender deville 410. it wasn`t noisy but the effects sucked. i try to get lots of sounds and didn`t want to buy a shit load of stompboxes. i was trying to get sounds ranging from techno to django. none of the sounds had no distortion on them. even if i put it on jazz i would get a fairly clean sound but still with distorion. i hateed that the drums wre louder then the guitar so if you played wioth the drum machien then you couldn`t hear yourslef .

Reliability : 2
well mine broke. if it wasn`t for the stupidity of my local music store buying it without chekcing it out i would have had a hundred dollar paper weight. i played it pretty hard for like 2 months and then it didn`t die it would just work for like 10 minutes and then not work i thoght my amp needed new tubes but that wasn`t it the son of gun was burning form the inside out. don`t gig with this you`ll make a fool of yourself.

Customer Support : 1
i tired to deal with the company but no responce to my email. a bunchof bastrds all of them.

Overall Rating : 1
i`ve been playing for 6 years ive owned various guitars pedals and amps. right now i have a gibson les paul special, a blueshawk, and my new pride and joy a blond '72 american strat. also a fender deville 410 and a polytone mini-brute. hotcake overdrive akai headrush and phaser and a moog envelope filter. right now im giging solo witha dj in a techno/jazz/hip-hop deal, but do play regular gigs in a jazz combo. i don`t think this suits any style well unless you are going to plug into a marshall halfstack and play power chords all day. if it were stolen i would probally laugh t the dumb ass who stole it and makes a fool of him self on stage when it breaks.

Ease of Use : 5
easy to get decent sounds out of it. never tried editing patches, I'm too lazy.

Sound Quality : 3
not as noisy as the 505 model, but still noisy. sounds kinda cheap, but what can you expect for $130? has a few cool default distortion settings but as far as clean goes, it seems to be lacking in variety (apart from off the wall stuff that you'll never end up actually using more than once)

Reliability : 2
Heres where it went wrong. I had read reviews about the input/output jacks starting to fail on this unit but I ignorantly didnt heed the warning. It worked fine for like 3 months then all of a sudden the sound went out. I opened the thing up and resodered the input jack connection and it broke again the next day. I would not recommend this for a gig whatsoever. that would suck to lose the sound in the middle of a show.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never tried.

Overall Rating : 3
I play in a church worship band so I need a variety of sounds. I think I use like 2 or 3 of the settings on this thing at the most. Editing patches is probably easy but I dont like messing with it. It would be good for a backup guitarist cuz the sounds seem to blend well with other instruments, but the thing is cheap plastic and apparently breaks down a lot. What can I say? you get what you pay for...

This rating would be a 9 or 10 if the manual wasn't so thin in certain areas. New patches are reasonably easy to put in. I would prefer to have seen pedals for bank switching rather than just buttons. I made my own anyway, makes it far more usable. I would like to have seen more than 30 of the 60 patches user-programmable.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a single coil Japanese Strat. I play all kinds, mainly rock/punk rock/indie etc.. Do NOT buy this if you have a tube amp. It sounds way better with my mate's Peavey solid state (and the several other s. states I have used it with.) Mine is an Epiphone Electar Tube 30, and I am told it sounds pretty bad with Marshall Tubes also. I guess Zoom thought budget pedal=budget amp=solid state amp. However, it is still a great pedal that does for practising in my bedroom and jamming with mates occassionally. I like the distortion and wah, delay works fine. However, seperate pedals will do the jobs much better ie. if you just want this for its distortion, spend the same money on a dedicated distortion pedal. Noise reduction is EXCELLENT at ... mmm ... reducing noise ... when you put a lot of gain on the distortion. It can eliminate quitely picked notes alltogether if turned up high though, this doesn't bother me much. If you get a cheap AC/DC adapter, it will adcersely affect the sound. The default patches do not flatter the unit's capabilities. An excellent resource for 707 patches is at: http://venus.spaceports.com/~gfx707/
With a transistor amp, this rating would be a 9.

Reliability : 10
It is plasticky, but it didn't cost a lot, it doesn't look like it will fall apart though. Expression pedal has taken a lot of abuse. It has never let me down. I have never done a gig with it, but I don't see that it would be a problem.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 9
I'd buy it again. The price I paid included an AC/DC adaptor, which I reccommend you get as it eats batteries and the adaptor is only about #10 - that's not a lot of batteries - 4 are supposed to last 14 hours I think. Again, if you have a tube amp, don't buy one of these unless you have tried it with your amp and are happy with it. I don't gig and have only been playing 3 years, so this unit is ideally suited to me, I cannot justify spending a great deal on equipment. I truly beleive this is the best multi FX processor for what I paid. Another handy feature is the guitar tuner which can also be used for figuring out the chords in a tune if you plug your lead into your Hi-Fi. When in bypass mode, the expression pedal becomes a volume pedal which can be useful. The 707 can also boost the signal a lot and drive your amp harder.

Very easy to use, the selecting of sounds in the order you want them is a bit complicated. Compared to other multi effect pedals its easy to change the patch sound and stuff.

Sound Quality : 8
I used it with a slightly modified Fender jaguar, Stack amps at practice rooms and through a small Fender front man amp at home. I also use a Big Muff Distortion pedal as well. There is the usually Zoom noise reduction available which is top, but i like it noisy so i turn that down. The effects can be pretty strong but not as much as separate pedals. There are lots of effects which can be modifide to the way you like, ive got it to sound very grungy and dirty rock. The flanger is really good, but the accoustic sim sorta sucks and sorta doesnt work.

Reliability : 6
Its plastic so it might bite the dust if i dropped it. The actually pedal switches dont seem as strong as the should and the foot pedal for the wah and stuff also seems a little to fragile. I do have no fear of it just breaking down though i use it in a gig with out back up but i do use a separate distortion pedal.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Nope, never delt with them but im sure there nice

Overall Rating : 8
I play hard rock and Grunge so i needed a fat dirty pedal and i also play soft jazz and blues. The pedal works with both styles well. This does the job of all effects except distortion. Its ok but not really fat enough for me. ive been playing for a few years or so now and have managed to get three guitars but my jaguar is my fav. The biggest ting i love about it is its compactabilty and it get rid of the need for millions of leads. The foot pedal is a little bit to sensitive so its kinda hard to adjust things like the pitch shifter properly. The Zoom 707 is good if you like a decent sound with no mess and cheap cost, if your mad into sounds go and buy individual pedals becuase this wont satisfy your needs. If you get it, i am recomending it, i would also perchase the biggest and meanist distion pedal the BIG MUFF with it.

This pedal is not what you'd expect for its price. With over 60 effects and an expression pedal it is the best in its price range! You can get some fantastic sounds from it although I was disapointed with the distortions they sound very sharp even after a lot of equalisation but they are great for mettalers like metallica etc.
It is so easy to use it is the first effects unit I have OWNED but have played with many others.

Sound Quality : 9
I play my 707 through a Marshall vs8080 and an Epi Les paul Goldtop or a Fender standard strat.
This is a problem I have found playing any guitar or amp with this unit. You lose the sound of the guitar eg.
When playing with Humbuckers I look for a fat rich crunch when in distortion but I don't get that sound when combining my effects to my amp.
To solve this problem I turned off the Zooms distortion and used the distortion on my amp. As with all effects units there are good and bad effects the chorus flanger phasers and acoustic sims are all great and I have used them all on my bands last demo cd. Also the WAH WAH is excellent and you can program it to sound exactly the same as any pedal (I use jim dunlop cry baby)
You really can sound like anyone with this pedal but it is best for metallica etc.

Reliability : 10
Very reliable and well built, even though its made of plastic its very strong and durable!
I would only use certain effects at a gig like its chorus flangers and delays etc.
Also the wah wah is very good

never dealt with samsontech Zoom or the shop I got it from.

Overall Rating : 10
In my band I play indie and rock but at home when jamming I play alot of lead led zeppelin etc.
I have been playing for nearly 3 years but am very experienced as a session guitarist at the age of 14. I have played many pedals guitars and amps and my equipment is great considering I have payed less than #1000 ($1500) for it all. The 707 has done me so far but I'am upgrading my effects to boss single pedals.
But overall For under 200 bucks this thing kicks ass for live in a band or just chilling in your room.

Very easy to use. I taught myself how to edit the patches in about a half hour because i'm too lazy to read the manual, which also is very good on telling you how to bring up the tuner, sampler, and everything else.

Sound Quality : 9
I use it with a Squire Strat and a Squire practice amp. It is noisey on a few settings that dont use the Zoom Noise Reduction. Very few of the effects are weak (Auto-Wah) but the rest (Delay, Flange, Distortion, everything else) are awesome!! I can get a Nirvana and Korn sound out of this, even with my crapp set-up.

It is very durable, I dropped it about 6 feet (on accidnet) and its still roarin'

This model is hard to understand for those who are new to processors. The instructions seemed to pretty vauge as if written by some geek without consideration for new folks such as my self. With a little tinkering and some help with my freinds, I was albe to know my way around it.

Sound Quality : 8
I play my BC Rich Platnium Warlock and Peavey Bandit 112 with this doo-hickey. The VanHalen patch was able to give me a nice tight speed metal tone such as Overkill, old Metallica and Slayer. Most of the other patches are fun to play around but nothing I would use while performing. The rythm sampler might make a useful metronome but the other settings seem completly useless compared to a drum machine. I havent tried recording it but I doubt only have a space for six seconds would be useful with other means of recording available.

Despite some of the drawbacks, I was able to come up with some nice tones both for performing and playing around.

Reliability : 8
I haven't took it through some heavy abuse yet. Its been kicked around a little while rearnging my room but nothing serious.I use the package it came in as a carrying case to protect it from the elements and being banged around.
So far it has outlasted other pieces of equipment I have used in the past.

Customer Support : 6
I emailed them asking for some help on using this and all I got was the usual "thanks for emailing us." Guess they can only work with warranties.

Overall Rating : 8
This is a nice processor for the budget musican. If your new to fx processors, you might want someone with more expirence to help you in using it. Many of the patches sound odd or useless but with some tinkering around, there can be some tones to stick around with. The rythm sampler is a great metronome but not a drum machine.

Overall, I like this processor.

I have an epiphone classic flametop gibson les paul and it sounds great when it is hooked up to the gfx707. The distortions are good, and you can get plenty of a variety of sounds when you combine it with your chorus, reverb ext... I can get a great Metallica sound from it.

Getting about and around on this little bugger is very simple. 2 buttons (patch up and patch down) and expression pedal. Fixing new patches is quite simple, unless you are a complete newbie to effects and have no idea where to start. The manual can be a hell lot better (My job is writing manuals, and this one stinks) for beginners. But its so simple to use you just plug it in and play. The rhythm section is ok, but you have to stoop down to switch it on. 7/10 is quite good however.

Sound Quality : 7
I am using this baby with a Jackson Performer PS1 guitar on a very small Fender 25r. The effects sound good even at low levels of sound. And yeah, I do get good sounds, especially distortions, delays and acoustic emulation.

Reliability : 7
So far I haven't been so rough on it. The unit seems quite robust, except for the power supply input. I would kick it around, given that it is being battery operated.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opinion yet. The local agent seems to be ok, but I don't think I'll need help.

Overall Rating : 8
I absolutly love the size and the sound seems ok. It's money well spent. I would however re-design the power supply input in this one, its easily damaged. Its a great unit for players who want to experiment around with effects.

You can get good sounds out of this pedal quite easily. I think it can't get any simpler. Editing Patches is easy if you read the manual for about an hour (and the manual is good). The only problem is that if you screw up storing a patch on top of another one, you just have to start all over again. That's why I'll only give it a 7. But it's simple to work with...

Sound Quality : 6
I use a Washburn N2 > GFX-707 - Crate G160XL. There is almost no noise at all and that's a good feature. I believe it's because of the ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction). What a good job they did here...
Well, the effects are not that good to start with, you have to edit your own patches if you really want to "like" them. Although some are quite good (20% of them). With a little work you can get the sound of many artists, I guess. But I'm not a sound expert, so I don't really know if I get that or not. Some of the patches (presets) that I like are the Van Halen, Pop, Lead, Detune, Overdrive, Violin... like I said , some are quite good. The rest is pure manure folks. But hey it's a cheap pedal, so you really have to make it sound like you want. It doesn't come all prepared for your taste, right?

Reliability : 8
I can sure depend on this pedal. It's plastic, but I don't kick it. I use it carefully. I haven't done any gigs but I would use it on a (small) gig, sure. I think the sound is good enough for that

Customer Support : 9
Never heard of them. But the music store (Castanheira, Oporto Portugal) were really helpful and let me try it for as long as I wanted. And the Zoom website is above average, so it's a 9!!

Overall Rating : 7
I play all kind of music for about 6 years and this pedal helps me a lot. I can record directly to the machine with this (without using the amp), which is good!! I don't have any other gear for the guitar. I don't think I need it yet. For beginners, this is a great pedal. And editing may seem boring, but it helps you develop a certain knowledge about this kind of stuff. If it was stolen, I'd probably save to buy a GFX-8 or a Boss GT-3, because I would want to move forward. I guess we could store the patches in a different way, because it somehow gets confusing, but that's the only flaw. Believe me, this is great pedal for starters. You'll go crazy if this is your first pedal. Just try it in a store... and for the price, it's awesome. But of course, if you are a serious musician, then buy a better and more expensive one, because this is not the pedal you want.

Ease of Use : 5
The pedal is easy enough to play around with if you are happy with the preset patches. The manual takes a bit of following to understand how to edit anything - which is a waste of time. I found any of the settings took ages to edit and the sounds usually came across "over-edited" no matter how subtly you set the fx.

Sound Quality : 3
I play an ESP guitar with a Laney LC30 valve amp. I had a small Marshall practice amp before and found the fx gave me easy access to a range of sounds for practicing, but since I got the Laney it just doesn't compare. The distortions on the pedal are all very muddy and lacking harmonic content and the reverb lacks any atmosphere. I thought the chorus was the best effect and the drum settings are fun and usefull as a glorified metronome. The wah is pitiful (i am awaiting delivery of a Morley this moment) but the expression pedal has its use as a volume pedal. I've had this pedal for over a year and a half and was a beginner at the time, not exactly a conisseur of tone but just happy if it had six strings and a Floyd. i am now a much better player (classic rock/metal mainly) and am aware that my pedal isn't even close to giving me the tone I crave.

Reliability : 5
Well, i've had the pedal for over 1 1/2 years and it's still going after daily usage as if it were brand new, so I can't complain. I do tread lightly on it however if i'm wearing my boots as the plastic doesn't seem indistructable. I wouldn't use it live as i would probably stomp on it in the middle of a rockin song.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dont know?

Overall Rating : 4
As i said, I play classic rock and it just ain't working. I play straight into my Laney now and it is phenomenal, and i'm contemplating buying a few stompboxes like a BOSS compressor and delay as they give more versatility and are easier to adjust. I tried recording myself a few times for my music course and it was when I played it back that I realised how terrible it made me sound. If it got stolen i wouldn't buy another but i would be more upset that I didn't have it to pawn off to some beginner for 50 bucks. For a beginner it is usefull for exploring different sounds and fun but if you are any way serious about playing guitar save yourself the money and buy a decent all-valve amp, they have all the legendary tones you could want.

Ibanez guitar, crate amp. Okay sound for some areas, other patches are unnecessary. Somewhat limited in its range. Could get some okay distortions if time is spent on it.

This is where it gets ugly. Today i was playing, and i leaned over to adjust some settings when all of the sudden my cheap guitar strap let go and my guitar came smashing down on the unit. My guitar only had a very minor scratch on it, but as for the 707, it was totalled. I opened it up, and found to my dismay that the circuit board was cracked in half. Time for some new effects, i guess.

Its not hard, you just need to read the manual and spend a few hours playing around with it. You can also use the presets, which aren't bad. 60 of them gives you some variety. If you want to experience all the features of it, you'll have to spend time with the manual though.

Sound Quality : 8
The preset effects are pretty good, but there are just too many useless distortions, fortunately, most of those are in the editable memory blocks. Many of the other effects are pretty cool though (60 total). Some say that they only use like 2 or 3 effects and the rest are useless, well, why would you buy a *multi* effects pedal? They have single effect pedals for those people, yet they insist on buying a unit like this and then trashing it because they baught the wrong thing. I find a lot of the effects very useful, since I play more experimental type of music, and you can make some really awesome patches if you put the time in to it.

The amp modeler, well, that depends on what kind of amp you have. If all you have is a fender squier sidekick, then it is extremely useful. On the Combo A setting, it'll make that little piece of junk amp sound like a real amp...at low volumes at least, until the speaker gives. If you have a real amp, then I can't say there because I don't have one at the moment.

One thing, this unit is NOT staticky at all, those that experience static have either bad pickups or their guitar volume turned up way to high. On my RG120 Ibanez w/ DiMarzio pickups turning the volume knob down just a tad keeps any static from showing up.

Reliability : 10
Had no problems what so ever in the 3 months I had it, and I'm pretty abusive.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 9
For the price, it is pretty damn good. It can match the sound of many of the more expensive distortion pedals. If it were lost or stolen I'd definately buy another one. The only thing on it that completely blows is the "drum machine". It is useful for nothing more than a metranome, and the sampler is pretty shitty too. Then again, you want a good drum machine, get one, you want a good sampler, get one. If you want a good cheap multi effects pedal in this price range, get this.

Soon as you get this thing you can use it and in my opinion the majority of guys who are gunna be buying this are beginners who don't own any other pedals or processors. For them the effects that are pre programed are great, when I got this I was running it thru a Squier Strat and a Squier Sidekick amp, this was probly the most limited setup soundwise that anyone could get therefore getting the pedal opened up alot of doors for me. I found it easy to get a fairly decent sound (compared to what had at the time) by using this pedal. After a while I felt like experimenting, the manual for it is very very hard to understand at 1st however the actually editing process is not nearly as difficult as it looks, editing patchs is an easy step by step procedure even if it is a lil time consuming. Basically your not gunna learn howto run this thing overnight however as u use it it will become easier.

Sound Quality : 8
My gear has changed alot since I got this pedal, I now use a Peavy Studio Pro 112 or Marshall Grd 15 and a 48th Street Custom Strat. The pedal is not usually noisy you do get the odd fx settings/pickup postions where it creates a lil noise but thats only very very rarely. Ok now for the quality of Fx, Clean Chorus is brilliant I can achive amazing clean sounds on using this pedal it rox, the flange is OK but a lil on the weak side, Wah is probly the weakest thing on this pedal but as I don't use the Wah much I'm not too worried about that, Distortion like the Flange is a lil weak but is much better then Amp Distortian the only way yer gunna better this is with a stomp box or expensive processor. I play all sorts of different music and for most this thing suits me fine. I'd give this a 7.5 If I could but thats not possible so i'll give it an 8.

Reliability : 6
I've had it a year and a bit and it's starting to let me down here at first it was ok but now the input/output sockets are starting to come loose, I think that can be fixed though and I haven't had any other problems.

Dunno, Don't care :-)

I play a lil bit of everything and for the beginner who dabbles in a bit of everything this thing is fine. I've been playing a year and half maybe maybe a lil more most of my other gear i've described above. If lost or stolen I'd probley save up for a GFX 4 maybe and 8 I dunno. Other pedals in this range are pretty much the same but this one had a few extra features so I choose this. I record alot line in also and this thing works OK for that 2, If any of you guys wanna hear what this pedal can do check out Guitarwar.com and look in the past elec melees my name is "Twads" and in war 687 I use this pedal to createthe lead sound. It's really pretty easy to use, just put all your setting where you want them, and play around. You can play the guitar while changing the settings to find what you really want. The manual is a little inspecific about some things, but with some basic knowledge you can overcome that.

Sound Quality : 7
I run this with a Fender Strat to a Fender Frontman 25R. I don't try to do too much, just keep it simple. Some settings are worthless and stupid, but I just made my own settings in their place. I was just playing with the settings and I can get decent Creed clean and distorted sounds, and some STP. The acoustic stuff doesn't really sound acoustic, and some patches, like I said, are just dumb.

Reliability : 7
It works for me, but I don't usually play gigs. It hasn't fallen apart yet, and doesn't look like it's going to, so yeah, i'd use it for a gig.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Don't know, no trouble so far.

Overall Rating : 7
I play rock mostly, this seems to do the trick, I just have to alter the patches to get what I want sometimes. I've been playing almost 2 years, by no means an expert, but I have a Fender P-Bass, a Yamaha acoustic, and a junker guitar. It gives me more options in my music than just overdrive and reverb, so It does just fine for me.

Parameter adjusting with the knobs is quite intuitive, but its sometimes hard to know which knob for which parameter is, since they change depending on the fx type. I found the 505 easier to configure, but it also has much less adjusting options for the effects.

Sound Quality : 5
I miss a real smooth distortion. The distortions also seem very dirty and have to be corrected at low end to be used at a line in. However, I achieved a good classic rock sound in combination with my Fender Strat, using OD2 and GAIN set at 1. Effects sound nice, and some have really good stereo depth. When I practice with my Dolby ProLogic decoder on it sounds ok. It interprets the stereo signals to give it a front/back dimension.

Reliability : 8
never had a problem. Sure, effect boards with metal cases stand more kicks and hits, but for a little gig in a little nice club (...if it had better distortions...) it's ok.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to use it. Although, I didn't like the fact that they raised the 707's price around 40$ (don't know for sure how much, I paid in german marks) when the 505-II came out.

Overall Rating : 7
Although I was overwhelmed with the variety of effects when i first got the 707, I'm already (2 months later) thinking of getting something more professional in terms of sound quality and features. It holds a lot of effects which would dry your wallet out if you bought them all as single effect pedals, but it's only a compromise in terms of quality. noise reduction however, is really good.

It's not like adjusting your three knobs box but after reading the manual and spending some time on it you can easily create your own sounds. I own it since 4 months and i played with every setting. Much easier then some other units I've tried.

Sound Quality : 4
I have Jackson PS-4 Performer and I use the ZOOM for practice with headphones or recording with PC. It's a funny toy but the sound quality is not good. In the Dist/Comp module, only the Dist-2 setting and the Acoustic Simulation is interesting. Compressor settings suck. Metal dist stinks. Modulation effects are weak and generally useless except some chorus settings. Espescially the wah sounds are ridiculous. Pitch shifters have long latency times and sound horrible. But the noise reduction does a good job. Reverb and echo effects are not flexible enough to find good sounds, in fact, nor are other effects. Amp simulation is just a bunch of EQ presets and alters nothing but the frequency response. Expression pedal and drum samples are good features for this class of units, but since the wah sucks, pedal is not so much necessary. Jam play and sample features are weak and only usefull for fun.
When I try to make direct records with it, it causes a low end boost (even with the "line" setting) so the result is a growling bass sound which is not tolerable. I defianly can't get 80's classic metal sound like Judas or Ozzy though I've tried every combination of effects.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems reliable, nothing happened yet but DO NOT use it on gig! I did it on a small gig and the led display was invisible on the scene so I had very unpleasant time there. Trust me, don't use it!

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't deal with them. But the guy who sold it to me was very and helpful, I bought my guitar from the same magazine and had a problem with it, I brought by guitar and they solved the problem in a half hour.

Overall Rating : 4
I play 80's metal (not thrash or power but classic and glam). I have only one usefull setting and I practice with it. I play since ten years and personally I do not own anything at home. But at my school's studio there are some usefull units. If my GFX-707 was lost, I'd buy a Line-6 POD wich I tested longtime and that sounds great. Don't buy it, add a little more and buy POD. Well ZOOM GFX-707 is a funny toy but nothing more.

Not too tough, but editing cool patches was not enough intuitive. Dialing a good sound is easier on pedals.

Sound Quality : 3
Used a Ibanez RG (HSH) and Fender Strat (mexico) thru a variety of Marhsall Valvstates.
The distortions are simillar to what you can get from a cheap peavey blaser (I know coz I got one of those at home) and the Wah is pityfull compared to my CryBaby. I went to the music store to get a good multi effect pedal, I tried the Zoom for an hour or so and then decided it wasen't worth it's price.

Also, the patches suck and some of 'em are USELESS.
Can't get a blues sound that has balls with this P.O.S.

I hesitated between this pedal and a Pandora PX3 because they cost almost the same price in France, almost 200?.
I downloaed the user manual from the web site, so I already known it before trying it.
This machine is easy to use, the knobs for the settings are very handy. Man can go through all parameters easily.
The drum machine is one of the feature that interrested me a lot into that box. You get a wide variety of rythm for practicing

Sound Quality : 5
I found it really disappointing.
The disto are really worse than the one I get with the lead channel on my Peavy Bandit 112 (not the 'S'). They sound weak and muddy.
The settings are easy to use, The problem is to find the settings for the proper sound. I had this pedal for 2hours and impossible to get something decent. The packaged patches are a real pity, they are a lot sort of different one but only a few really fit for my purpose, but do not reach the quality I expected.
The drum kit sounded, let's say average, but really bad regarding the Pandora.
Oh yes, one thing that bothered me, the sampler, only 6 seconds !!!! useless, I need at least 10 secs
Some things are good, the reverb, the wah, too few regarding the number of effect proposed.

Reliability : No Opinion
Well, it's plastic, but designed as a pedal, so strong.
But I wouldn't gig with it because of its sound !

Customer Support : No Opinion
Zoom has a good web site

Overall Rating : 6
Well, considering it it vs Pandora PX3, there is no comparison. The Korg has really better sound for even effect or drum kit.

Ok, 707 looks sexy, the wah is good, it's a pedal, designed for gigging. But if you need something for practicing go for the Pandora, it has THE sound.

It seems that within this price range you have to choose between the sound quality or the hability to gig with. 707 gives you the second only, not enough yet for good gigs, for which you may go to GFX-8 or AX1000.

I got this last year, and as soon as I got it outta the box it was easy to use. However, the manual leaves alot to be desired as it was written by the computer geek that designed it so its hard to understand. Editing patches took me a week to really get down, but once i got it, i could make almost any sound i wanted.

Sound Quality : 5
My setup no longer includes the GFX-707 because i have replaced it with many great stompboxes that sound 100% better than the GFX does.I might add it back in for a few songs because of some neat patches. It wasn't noisy when i had it in front of a crybaby and big muff, but like i said it has been replaced. The unit has WAY too many distortion patches, because they all sound the same. After editing almost every patch i could, i could get some REALLY cool Ring Modulator effects. I really liked the underwater-like patch. The Autowah was pointless, the phaser wasnt too bad, the flanger wasn't as wooshy as i like them, but the talk and time trip effects werent too bad. After playing with the reverse patch and adding a Memory Man behind the GFX i could get a weird pulsating space sound that i am thinking about using in a song. A good multi effect pedal, but for a really great sound, go for stompboxes. Its fun mixing this with other pedals though, but its not that great.

Reliability : 8
the GFX is really sturdy, but i have had a problem with the output jack falling out.

My band plays a psychedelic stew of music, ranging from rock to funk to no wave to jazz. I currently use the sampler on this unit for writing solos/songs, and it works well for that. Its also fun to mix and match with my other stompboxes. I can get cool sounds out of certain patches, but not enough of them are good, and too many are distortion patches. Since it mixes well with other units, has a great drum thing, and sampler, is incredible sturdy, and has a few awesome effects, ill give it a 7.

If you mess around with the amp selectors, and also alot wih the equilization, you will most likely be able to get exactly the sound you want. I have had mine for about 4 months, and I change the effects I use most, almost every week. I just keep on changing them a little bit at a time, and i am getting closer to having the exact sound I want.

Sound Quality : 9
I am running from a Mexican Strat through the GFX-707, and into a small Peavey amp. I have also played through a large peavey amp, and it sounded great. The ZNR function works well, remember to always have the ZNR as high as possible, while still having the sound you want. I play alot of Creed and Metallica, kind of that beefy crunchy distortion that works good with low tunings, and works very well to get that incerdible Palm Muting sound that Metallica uses alot. As fas as clean goes, I took a preset called 'rockab', and stored it next to my distortion patches, and just messed with the eq for a while and the tone. Also the preset 'fusion' is a very cool effect. I use 'fusion' for the intro to With Arms Wide Open by Creed. If you want me to send you the settings for my patches, or If you have any to give me, email me at:
krfitzy1@yahoo.com

At first, It was very reliable, but recently it has began to cut out when the input chord is moved(guitar players can relate to the fact that ...yes the input chord will move well playing) I am pretty sure it is just a loose connection, but it is difficult to fix, because when you take the bottom of the pedal, the circuit board is in the way, and Im to scared that I will erase everything if I take it off too.

This is NOT a item you should buy if you hate to read the manual! Sure, the presets will work and a monkey could figure them out in short order, but you will miss the best part of the thing -- the programable functions! I think you could get most any sound you want out of this box (and there is a website dedicated to giving you the patches you need to get there). The manual is good, easy to understand and follow -- but you really have to read it!

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds good -- I have a very solid Washburn Lyon which I use with a Peavey or Marshall amp, and it sounds good with either. I like the clean sounds, and the lack of hiss in any mode I've tried. The distortion sounds almost as good as the soundtank pedal I use, I'm sure with some tinkering you could get there. Not tried many of the effects (except just to try them out) so I can't comment about how good they would be in actual play -- but most sound very good just in testing.

Reliability : 8
I've not used it that much, but it seems very solid. The constructions seems well made (despite it's being plastic)and all controls are positive and functional.

The setup is pretty basic, although patience is require to be able to get the desired mix. The factory setting are adequate, but i recommend you play around with it for a while. The rest has probably been said several times.

Sound Quality : 6
A tex-mew strat (or danelectro u2)>zoom707>marshall vs 65r.
The pedal is generally quiet but i have realised some tone is lost when you bypass the pedal to get a clean sound. I recommend that if you want a clean sound to set it in the pedal (if u get what i mean). In my opinion all the fx sounds dry to me, but due to the relativity of the price it seems adequate. The wah doesnt have a wide "sweep" and all the distortions dont seem to have the crunch or punch some metal heads go for (apart from the VH which is pretty good). One thing good about this pedal is that it has great versatility (if you think thats a proper substitute for tone). I play blues, jazz, rock, funk basically all genres of music and it just about could cover all these. The pedal can (if have the patience for it) mirror any guitarists sound, but not exactly (due to low qualoty sound).

Reliability : 7
UUUmmmmm......i guess it looked like a solid unit, but my stage history hasnt been action packed, so i dont treat it with much abuse. But i use to own a zoom505 which burned out on me, and i guess the 707 has a chance of doing that. If that doesnt fail you, it does seem like it can withstand the pain. I would not use a backup for this, not because it would last, but because i wouldnt spend more money for another 707 (not that its that bad or anything).

Customer Support : 4
Tried to get my Zoom505 repaired but there was really no place in Australia for it. The only place that would fix it charged pretty steep prices so i just bought the 707 instead. Never really had to deal with the company though.

Overall Rating : 5
The 707 is suitable for all sorts of music. I never really used fx much through my 10 years of playing, this pedal would be a pretty good first fx pedal (due to price and variety). If on the other hand u want great sound for your guitar buy separate stomp boxes. I now own a jim dunlop crybaby, danelectro grilled cheese distortion (highly recommened for its distinct sound), with the reverb from my marshall. Although its a step down from the range on the 707, its basically all i needed (maybe a chorus and tremelo would help). If it were stolen i wouldnt really care, I dont think id buy it again. I love the range of the pedal, but like the 505 the sound aint top grade (the drum machine only helps for beginners to play along). I wouldnt record anything with it. *
DO NOT BUY MULTI FX PEDALS IF YOU CHERISH GOOD SOUND AND TONE*

Ease of Use : 8
The best thing about this pedal is it's extraordinary flexibility. The bad thing about this pedal is it's extraordinary flexibiity. Although those two statements sound contradictory they are not. The very fact of this pedal's flexibility means that it is not a piece of cake to program. But if you stick with it you will be rewarded with whatever sound you are trying to get. The user interface is straightforward and, once you used to it, easy to use. There are so many settings and choices for each setting that it can be a bit overwhelming for someone who thought that they could just take it out of the box and create great sound by using ESP.

Sound Quality : 9
I don't know how you could ask for better sound. I use an American Strat running through a Peavy Classic 30 tube amp. The amp tends to emphasize the highs and be too light on the lows. I fixed that be setting the equalizer for exactly the mix I want for each patch.

I play classic rock & roll and a little country in a weekend band. I haven't tried all of the effects because not all of them pertain to my type of music. But the distortions, reverb and chorus have given me everything I could hope for. I have even messed around with some of the more bizarre stuff and have found some things I think I can use in certain situations.

The noise reduction is a great feature. My amp is just about as quiet as you can get without the pedal and the pedal helps to keep it that way. No annoying buzz on stage between songs.

The expression pedal is fun to fool around with. I've set up one patch that uses the pedal pitch function to lower the pitch 1/2 tone when the pedal is depressed. The result is a nice whammy bar effect. I don't have to use the whammy on my guitar and retune after every song.

The key to this pedal is patience. It takes time to set it up and the set up needs to be different for every guitar & amp combination. I suspect that most of the critical reviews I've seen here are the result of not taking enough time to take the characteristics of instrument and amp into consideration. You can't just plug in and play. Many of the presets are not to my liking so I don't use them. The ones I need that aren't there I create. When I do use a preset I take the time to tailor it to my rig.

One of the best things about this pedal is the independant website that is devoted to publishing not only the presets but patches that other people have created. There is a lot of value to knowing how the patches have been created-in my view it is the key to being able to tweak them to get the sound you want out of your rig. The address is: http://venus.spaceports.com/~gfx707/.

Reliability : 10
I've owned the pedal for about 8 months and have had no problems at all. I play through it at home everyday and on gigs nearly every weekend. I don't mistreat the pedal so I expect it to last a long time.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 10
I have used a couple of other inexpensive pedals. This one is the winner, hands down! I can't think of anything I need that it doesn't give me-as long as I am willing to take the time to set it up properly. One of the main differences between this pedal and the other inexpensive models I've tried is the noise reduction feature. I had almost given up on effects pedals because of the amount of noise that most of them produce. This one, if you set it up, is nice and quiet and does what it is supposed to do-it gives me the sound and want. It's like a good football referee-the great ones do their job and most of the time you don't even notice they are there. That's what a good effects pedal should do.

This pedal fit my budget and what I'm doing so I see no reason to change. I can't compare it to more expensive pedals because I have never used them. I did work with a guy who was running a Boss pedal through his 60 watt Marshall. It sounded great but I don't think it sounded any better than my rig.

In my opinion this is a terrific bargain for the money.

But I just edit the patches that I use together and I can change through them real easy. Editing is real easy, I can easily emitate other effects that are on this so that I can line them up=) The manual discribes everything fine (even though I don't even need it).

I am using Strat>gfx 707>Peavy studio pro 112. It sounds good through my strat, all of the pickups on it are singlecoils....and this pedal kicks out some bass! If you are looking for some bassy distortion, this is where to get it.
The clean effects are fantastic, I get some sounds that sound EXACTLY like creeds clean stuff. Flanger and delay are great to. The wah isn't that good though....maybe I just need to program a good wah sound, or get a Vox or Morly.
Distortion is real bassy as I mentioned above. There are also some less bassy distortion though=) Large range of distortions to, i'd say 1/4th or 1/2 of the effects are distortion. I don't have any other pedals than this so i'm not real sure what other kind of distortions are out there.

I play just about everything from metal to classical or contemporary. This suits my needs for just about everything. If it where stolen or lost I might buy it again or look into something else(cause i'm the kinda guy that likes to try things out) but this is diffinently a keeper! But i'm not planning on having it stolen anytime soon but i'm gonna keep it as long as possable.
It might stand a better wah, but hey.....most multi FX don't have good wah, so you might as well buy a seprate wah.
This is a awesome pedal if all you need is a small pedal for playin' at the house and playing at small gigs and stuff.
Well, to sum it all up, this pedal is great for everything. Just a few small things that you can fix easily. Great pedal! Speacially for the money.

easy to pick up, easy editing the only problem was with the jam play function. You realy have to press that pedal down.

my sound I believe is great. I use a little fender 25 watt reverb. The only problem I have with sound is the Wah. The tone is crap unless you are using it. otherwise you have to change patches.

it is fairly dependable but there is a glitch in the computer when you set delay to the expression pedal, the pedal will stop functioning. that's the only problem I have found. It's happenened to me twice.

no problems worth reporting.

Ease of Use : 8
I've been using the GFX-707 for about 9 months now...I wrote a review right away when I got it, but now that I've had a lot more time to play around with it, I figured I'd submit another. First, a power adapter is a must. Don't even try playing with batteries, they'll be dead in a few short days of heavy usage. It's easy to figure out how to edit patches, although I still have to check the manual occasionally for certain functions. The manual is pretty well-written, although the descriptions of certain effects could be clearer. Overall, it's a pretty nice, easy-to-use pedal.

Sound Quality : 8
My usual setup is a Fender Strat to the GFX-707 to either a tiny 10-watt Marshall or a Fender Frontman. The Marshall is muddy snd the Frontman is trebly, so it's a little hard to judge the actual tone of the GFX.
The distortions cover everything you could want (acoustic simulator, two overdrives, two distortions, various compressor + distortion combo, and metal- and lead-specific distortions). They don't always sound incredible, but it doesn't sound like crap, either. The Zoom Noise Reduction is excellent. I completely forgot it was there until I played straight into my amp once and noticed quite a lot of noise.
The modulations, like the distortions, cover just about everything you'd want, but there are a few distinct problems. First, you can't combine any two effects. For instance, I wanted to make a patch that was dropped half a step (to play Metallica stuff) and that also had a wah. But you can only have one effect at a time, so I couldn't do it. There's a few combinations (tremolo + chorus is the only one I can think of offhand), but I still end up wanting to use other combos sometimes.
The reverbs are nicely done and are thankfully separated from the other effects (so that you can use reverb/delay with any modulation). There's really nothing special about them, but they sound nice.
I haven't used the amp sim much since I haven't done much direct recording, but it seems pretty well-done. There's no real amp models here, but the "stereotypical" amps (combo, bright, stack, etc.) sound nice.
Finally, I'll touch on a few other features...the built-in drum machine is nice for practice. Worthless for playing live and too repetitive for most recording, but great for practice. The riff sampler and Jam Play features are the most worthless things in the GFX-707. The sampler doesn't record enough to be really worthwhile and the Jam Play thing just makes no sense.
Re-reading what I just wrote, I sure do sound pessimistic. Don't be mistaken, it's a great pedal, there's just a few more things I wish it had.

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't gigged yet. My first gig will be a talent show in a few months that I'll be playing bass for. If I ever get a gig as a guitarist, I'd trust this thing...it's plastic, but it's still sturdy.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with Zoom, so I don't have any opinion. The manual is decent, though.

Overall Rating : 9
Don't let the negativity of the sound quality review keep you from buying this...it's certainly a great pedal. I just wanted to point out some things you should be aware of before buying it. On the other hand, don't rule out other options...I never compared this to anything else, I just took a chance and bought it. It turned out to be a great purchase.

The sound is great, easy or fairly easy to edit patches, but you have to have it in your hand to do so, but I guess there might not be an easier way.. I don't play with effects that much, but started working with a band that played country, and I didn't have enough different sounds, and I want to use it to record with thru my PC.

Sound Quality : 7
This thing rocks. No noise at all really.. It really quited down my amp even.. I mean I have a marshall valvestate and that damn thing will pick up TV stations with the wrong kind of wiring in a house, but not with this thing attached, and the sounds are great.. I can mostly get the sounds of a favorite artist.. It has some very good sounds built in, patches that come with it.. but it also has some shitty ones.. I like about 1/3 to 1/2 of the presets..

Reliability : 6
I don't know.. I think if you didn't knock it around much it would be ok, but without a backup of anything you are taking a chance. I plan on using this for recording at home and maybe getting a POD to do gigs or recording with or vica versa that way I have a backup but, I would be worried, but would probably use only it as that's all I have.. Plastic sucks though..They should use better plastic if they are going to do so, or thin metal.. I would have paid more money for the same quality in the effect if they offered a metal version..

Havn't used them and hope I don't have to!

I use a Gibiphone Strat copy through a crate 15 watter.I am sad to say that if you want to use all of the patches, you need a bigger amp.The auto wah and tremolo do not come out in my amp. When i got onto a 50 watter they worked.I like the van halen distortion effect the most, very rich distortion.the flanger and wahs dont sound all that great in my opinion though.

I play a Peavey Fierenza with 2 p90's through a peavy bandit 112. The jet and chorus effects are beyond outstanding and are reason enough to spend $170 to buy it. I use the overdrive to play SRV. But, the Pedal Wah will never be the peer of a Crybaby.

Overall, the Zoom is an excellent choice for anyone interested in exploring the digital effects processor realm. It is an incredibly simplistic pedal to use with all features listed pretty clearly in the manual.

Sound Quality : 8
I currently use a Stage Stratocaster and Traynor Signature Series tube amp. I also use the Zoom for direct recording to 4-track and digital 8-track. All in all the pedal sounds amazing. I've successfully managed to get *almost* every sound I've attempted to get from it. The ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction) feature is great and helps quell most noise from bad grounds and the like.

Reliability : 8
I haven't had a problem with it yet and I've owned it for 6 months. I beat the crap out of it at home and it still sounds like the day I bought it. Zoom's doing something right these days... :)
I probably would use it at a gig with no backup, but I'd be inclined to run 2 separately in-line for patch combinations.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never required it.

Overall Rating : 10
Usually I play a lot of Hard Rock/Alternative/Metal, however I have dabbled in funk, jazz, and blues since buying the Zoom. If it were stolen, I'd find the guy that stole it, break his fingers, and get my pedal back! I bought it on a whim, now I refuse to get rid of it. :) If it could only have a little longer sampling time I'd be set....

Very very simple, the only problems I have a) the eq is slightly annoying to tweak (you use a knob to toggle between the low bands) b) you can specify which module to assign the expression pedal too (distortion, sfx, etc) but you can't choose which parameter within the module which can be frustrating. I found a distortion I liked but I couldn't control the gain with the pedal. Other then these two points it's a dream to use quick and easy to learn.

Sound Quality : 6
I play a Yamaha Pacifica and a Fender Squire Stagemaster-7 (A Seven String) through a tiny little practice amp... I've also spent a few late nights running my guitar into the pedal and then right into a pair of headphones. The pedal can be a bit noisy if you don't bother to tweak the noise reduction take the ten seconds it takes and your set every time you use that patch. The effects are pretty good... the amp sim sounds like a sim and not the real deal (what did you expect from a cheaper pedal) but it produces tones about as good as a solid state without modeling and sounds pretty good when run into the headphones definitely sufficient for late night bedroom rocking. The effects are pretty good but some of the preset patches are lousy. I've got some good sounds out of tweaking the user definable. This is another sore point most of the factory patchs that I like are in the user writable banks. Two words of advice learn to use the equilizer and the reverb I didn't at first in my haste to get going and the tone got a hell of a lot better when I did (I didn't take to long to figure out either) The tone of the pedal lies somewhat on the harsh side so if you've already shelled out for a tube amp or a good modeling solid state you'll probably want to invest in a bucket of stomp boxes, but for a beginer looking for a crap load of decent effects at a good price it's a great buy. One final word of warning I've found that the sound is kindof crappy when I tune my guitar down. It's fine for drop d but one you tune down 2 whole steps or more or try to use a seven string it starts to sound washed out. If anyone knows anyways to fix this let me know. Oh and one the subject of detuning... the pitchshifter effect sucks shift down and you get muddy fart like noises shift up and you get a peircing very synth like shrill sound. Must admit I kinda like the shrill sound in an evil organ noise kind of way but it's no whammy pedal.

Reliability : No Opinion
I've had it for a few months and I haven't had any problems... haven't gone gigging with it. Certainly fine for bedroom noodling I can't comment about gigging though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had any problems thus far... never called the company decent manual though.

Overall Rating : 9
I play a lot of different stuff... mostly alt-rock/punk/metal stuff I like weird shit and the options this thing gives is a great asset. Just last week I was playing with long delays and echos so I could play a riff then play a harmony over the echo... I have fun with it. I've only been playing for about a year and a half but I'm pretty fanatical about it. If this got stolen I'd probably get another unless I happened to have enough money for a bucket of pedals or a really good processor. I love the options. I hate the number of crappy patches in the not editable banks. Bottom line for buying this pedal is price, it is beautiful for a beginner easy, cheap, a wealth of options and very little noise. For the proffesional one should probaly look elsewhere... once you get really good and experienced you'll probably have to look elsewhere to get really good tone... but it is great for practicing in your bedroom.

This thing rocks!! I first bought it for the wah pedal and the tremolo effects. But I soon found that this pedal had many more surprises in
store for me. There is not one effect on this thing that I wouldn't use. It's amazing! And the patches are a breeze to edit. I can knock down a patch in less than 20 seconds at the least. The only thing I haven't gotten the hang of is the ZNR/EQ feature. The manual was easy to read and understand, and I'm in the eighth grade. It doesn't use technical terms because there's nothing technical about it. Simple and effective.
Other great features are the sampler and the drum loops. The sampler samples and loops up to 6 seconds of whatever goes into the input jack(I wish it would go longer, but who doesn't?). You can then jam along with it at full speed or half speed. There is also a bypass option if you want a less prominent riff under a lead with the effect.
The drum loop thing is great for demoing. I wouldn't use it for recording an album, but it is ideal for jamming or just laying down an idea on tape. The styles range from Shuffle, Rock, Dance, Jazz, Thrash, and even Ska! And the tempos range from 40-250 bpm. It's a terrific feature!

Sound Quality : 10
I am equipped with a Yamaha Pacifica 604W and a Crate GX-20M. It works wonderfully. I haven't noticed any any weakening of sound over time, everything sounds great! The only artist I have recreated was Frank Zappa, and that was mainly by accident. Just stick some heavy reverb with a strong flange effect with the right distortion setting. I did recreate Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead(sort of) which is often pretty tough to do. But I usually don't try to recreate other artists.

So all in all, its a very diverse piece of equipment.

Reliability : 8
The only problem I have had with this product are the input and output jacks. Over time they start to wobble, creating a popping noise that can become a real nuisance. I usually just mess around with the cables for a few seconds and it goes away. I would definitely trust it while performing live. The only reason the wobbling happens is because my room has considerably thick carpet. This means when I use the wah pedal the whole thing moves with it. I doubt this would happen on hard floor (except if you have very heavy feet and a very weak floor).

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never needed support. I know that my retailer wouldn't be able to help me, they've suggested me demoing it for customers because they don't know much about it yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I mainly write and listen to progressive rock. I'm also now dabbling into jazz. I think it's safe to say this pedal is a catch all for all genres. If it was stolen, I would rush to the store and get another one as soon as possible. I don't play without it. The one thing I wish that this baby could do (besides sampling over 6 seconds) is to combine patches. But hey! For twice the price you can buy two! To sum it up, this is a terrific piece of equipment. I recommend getting it as soon as possible.

P.S. For all you keyboard players out there, here's a hint: If your keyboard has a headphone jack, stick one end of a cable into it and stick the other end into the input jack of the Zoom GFX707. Guitar players no longer get to have all the fun!!

Sound Quality : 9
I play my Roadhouse Strat into the 707 then into a Marshall VS265R when playing at home. I usually just leave the Marshall on the clean channel and use the 707 to get the sound I want. I also plug the 707 directly into the mixer snake at rehersals and gigs. I don't even bother dragging my amp around. It sounds fine going straight into the board. I use a wide range of sounds from clean to overdrive. The factory blues patch sounds great the neck pickup on the strat. It also has a good acoustic simulator so I rarely use my accoustic guitar anymore. Overall the unit is very quite.

Reliability : 5
I gig with it every weekend. I had a problem with the input jack. The solder broke between the jack and the PC board. I took it apart and fixed it myself. Also, one of the large foot switches popped out but I snapped it back in. If you want to use it outside, you must memorize you patch order and keep track of which patch you are on. You cannot see the display when outside. I've tried shading it but forget it.

This is where I have a big problem with it. The unit worked well for 4 months before the nightmare began.

You can't depend on it for live performances. I had terrible problems with the input jack. At first I did not know what was causing the static noise or reduction in volume during a few of live performances because the problems were intermittent. I thought it was my pickups or cords. But it turned out to be the the input jack.

I would not use it on a gig without a backup. In fact, if I had a backup I would use it instead of this. Believe me, it will save you from some very embrassing moments.

I am in the process of trying get support. I don't even know how long is the warranty because it is not stated in any of the printed materials that came with the package.

This was my first digital effects, but it didn't take very long to figure out. Pretty easy after a couple of hours of messing around anyway, and who doesn't like to do that. I still can't figure out how to get the jam function to work, but i don't really need it.

Sound Quality : 7
I use a peavy classic 30 with a Gibson Les Paul DC Standard. I'm pretty pleased with a few of the sounds, but don't use a lot of the presets. I tweak a few of them and leave them as is, but i basically use only about five of the 60 presets without changing them. There are a few more decent then just five, but nothing much to speak of. If you can learn to make the sounds you want, you can definitely get them out of this, but i'm still working on that a little. It's really just a matter of what you put in to it is what you'll get out. It has a lot of versitility in that way. I'll give it a 7 but it's really about 6.5 until i can continue to make more of the sounds i want, which again, is really more my fault then the product's. Still better then a great deal of digital effects pedals, although digital has come a long way.

not very reliable, luckily for me my gigs are that rough (although i do like to rock out). It's plastic, i'm assuming it won't be long before something else goes wrong.

Customer Support : No Opinion
n/a, i have a friend that fixes everything guitar, and he did the last prob for me.

Overall Rating : 7
I get some good funk sounds out of it, some good rock sounds, and some good contemporary sounds out of it. I wish it was more reliable and came with better presets. I finally found a website that might help me get some better sounds out of it, i never even thought to look. so i may grow to like it even better.

Ease of Use : 6
This processor is relatively easy to use...the basic functions like the effects, the drum machine, and the sampler and pretty self-explanatory. I didn't find the manual to be terribly helpful, though.

Sound Quality : 6
I use this processor with my Fender Princeton Stereo Chorus amp and Epiphone Les Paul Special. I thought the GFX 707 had a few good effects and quite a few mediocre ones that I don't use much...but then, that's just personal opinion. The distortions are okay, although if you want really good distortion you would probably be better off purchasing just a simple fuzz pedal.

Reliability : 2
The GFX 707 is just not very reliable. Twice it has broken down on me during a performance...I no longer dare to use it when I'm playing live. Specifically, the input/output and the AC adapter jacks are not dependable. The input jack on my pedal failed, and not long after jack for the AC adapter began malfunctioning as well.

Customer Support : 6
I didn't have much trouble when I sent the processor in to have the input jack replaced; however it did take several weeks for it to be repaired and it would have been much easier if it just hadn't broken down in the first place.

Overall Rating : 4
This is a fun and useful tool for messing around in your basement or rehearsing in your garage, but it's just not dependable enough to be used for live shows.
