Hi. I'm based in Sydney Australia and have just purchased the Gig-Fx MegaWah. 1st off the unit is really solid and well built. The unit is basically 4 units in one. Normal Wah Pedal./Mega Wah /Auto Wah and Triggered Wah. There is also a setting which becomes a foot volume control. The unit can be either mono or stereo. I have only used it in the mono configuration and it is superb. There does seem to be a slight increase in output but I found this of no great concern. The switching is silent. You can preset the volume of the Wah so that you get a boost for solos if you wish. Also the resonance of the Wah signal can be adjusted. The pedal travel is good for the Wah but I found that when used as a foot volume control the signal does not come through with the pedal all the way back. You have to find that spot where the signal is just starting to come through. With a bit of practice you can find the right spot every time. Considering all the FX that this unit has, the gripe with the volume is a small one. I contacted the manufacturer to see if the travel for the Volume pedal could be adjusted but it is set for the Wah and cannot be adjusted for just the Volume travel. I might add that the pedal travel for the Wah can be adjusted to your liking as well as the slope as to when the effect of the Wah takes place. All in all, in my opinion this is a great unit very reasonably priced when you consider all that you are getting in one unit. I have mounted this on my small pedal board with the Mega Wah first followed by a Heavy metal pedal a Tube Screamer a TC chorus and last in the chain a digital delay. This then goes into my Rivera Fandango 55 watt Amp. Guitars that I use are a Les Paul / a Gibson 345 and a Strat. For me personally the big payoff was having the volume pedal. I must also point out that after sales dialog with the manufacturer has been 1st rate. Very quick reply's to emails etc.
If you want to hear it in action go the the Gig-Fx site.
www.gig-fx.com I just love it.

Rivera 55 Watt Fandango.
Guitars. Les Paul.
1963 Gibson 345
Kinman (Strat type guitar)
Unit is very quite.
All FX sound excellent.

Reliability : 10
I've only had the unit for a week but I would think it to be very dependable based on the build quality alone.

I am a studio musician and live player and play all styles. I've been a professional musician for 45 years. My Amp of choice is a Rivera 55 Watt Fandango. My other amps are a Peavey Classic 50 (1990 Model
A Fender 140 (1981 model)and a Fender Princeton (1973 model speced by Paul Rivera. My Guitars are a Kinman Strat Style Guitar. A 1991 Les Paul
and a Gibson 345 (1963) The pedal board on which I have mounted the MegaWah also contains a Boss Heavy Metal Pedal. A TRS Tube Screamer. A TC Chorus and a digital delay. My other FX unit is A lexicon.
If the MegaWah was lost I would replace it with another one.
My favorite on the MegaWah is the foot volume. I chose this pedal because of everything it had. Perfect for live gigs. In the studio I use my Lexicon unit.

Its relatively easy to use you simply plug in and go, it comes with the 9volt preinstalled.

I was up and running immediately and it???s a stereo wah pedal but you can run it just about as well in mono or mono in stereo out.

Sound Quality : 10
Its pretty much a versatile wah because you can use it as a crybaby, more washy mega wah, trigger wah, or auto wah.

You can set up a pretty cool sounding Insane Mega wah and reverse the signal too!

The adjustable gain resonance and sensitivity make this baby a powerhouse, and the gain really makes cranking harmonics that much easier.

Reliability : 8
The Mega Wah setting eats up the battery faster because it uses two independent circuits.

I actually traded up from the WD7 (which I liked for its high modulations), and I owned a Vox (which was noisy as Hell) but this thing can fulfill any wah needs and its true bypass with silent operation.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The manual is decent explaining configurations although they could be more detailed about the best settings for the different modes.

Overall Rating : 9
Great wah pedal, price is high but the features allow for customizable sounds and a wide range of possibilities for the creative player. I've tired the WD7 and the Vox and the Crybaby and this one can do what those do and then some.

This is a POS.
VERY noisy, limited sweep on mega wah, and I thought what a waste of $184

I don't know. I sent it back two days after I got it.

I think this is crap. I liked the sound of the Vox and the Fulltone much better.

This thing may not have the "click" when you engage it, but it goes south fast when it turns on. I would never use one live.

I play a PRS McCarty and an American Deluxe Strat through a Mesa Roadster. My other effects are a Keeley Compressor, Fulltone OCD, Homebrew Chorus, and a Diamond Delay. All great pedals. I'm still searching for the perfect wah. I like the Fulltone Clyde, but I don't use Wah that much so $200+ is alot to spend.

This wah would be easy to use, but it is hard to engage the trigger wah as it is no so sensitive. Mine came without manual, and I need to know why the blue LED in not on all the time when engaged. Maybe the battery is low. It is easy as you can connect it as you wish- stereo ins-outs.

Sound Quality : 10
The Cry mode and the Megawah sound good. The mega has a vocal sound. The autowah is not as versatile as I thought, as it is not as fast as a tremolo, for example. It is too slow for my needs.

As a volume pedal, it works nicely, but I do not need the amount of gain it can provide. I use a Carl Martin Compressor to reduce the gain, the gain knob in the Megawah gives too much gain.

The pedal is not noisy, but it is noisier in the wah than in the volume mode. All wah pedals exhibit this trait. The wah sounds thick and organic, very vocal.
The volume mode sounds a bit louder than in bypass. As it is TWO wah circuits running parallel, you can connect the in series, which produces the thickes wah you can imagine. When in reverse mode, it sounds phasey. This pedal is quite versatile. Funky. No digital effect could emulate this.

I try to get the best : Carl Martin Compressor->Toadworks Mr Squishy->Gig-fx Megawah->Foxrox Zim-> Matchless HotBox->vintage custom Amp. In the effects loop: (Loop 1)Foxrox Paradox TZF=> and/or( loop 2)Pigtronix EP-1-> Gig-fx=> into TC1210=>Dynacord SRS-56=>Tubeworks Real tube reverb RT 921=>BBE 481.
I use cheap mod strats, as guitars do not last in my hands.

Funky

Made in China, too expensive for being made with cheap labor. It is solid aluminium, but it has some minor dings: the rate pot shaft is made of plastic, and the pots do not align with the marks. The finish is excellent, and it seems it has been waxed prior shipping.

Customer Support : 10
Excelent customer support. I think they deserve success. Great design. They seem to be concerned about the Customer support.

Excelente atencion al cliente. Merecen triunfar. Gran dise??o.

Expensive but versatile and good sounding. I would buy it again. A great wah, and I have been searching! Beautiful and practical design.

Caro pero versatil y suena bien. Lo compraria otra vez. Un gran Wah,??vaya que he estado buscando! Un bello y practico dise??o.

Like any wah pedal, you step on it and it goes... very smooth control - no string pulley system. It's an optical pedal - very quiet! When the pedal is all the back it's off. Rock it forward and it kicks in. Also - it can be set to work like a volume pedal. Very smooth. You can also dial in the gain sensitivity and what frequencies you want the wah portion to boost. The only thing I think I might ask them to change is how you switch from wah-wah to volume pedal: you now have to slide a switch requiring you to bend over to do so. I'd like to see them put in a step-on button switch that would take care of it. Don't know where they'd put it, but that's what I'd like to see.

Sound Quality : 10
I love the sounds this thing can get. You can feel it's sensitivity very well. You can set it to sound like the standard Cry Baby or set the selector dial to Mega and the sweep of the wah broadens. The lows are deeper and rich and the high's are screaming. I most always use it set to Mega. There's also a Trigger and Auto setting. Like I mentioned above, it's an optical-working pedal, very quite.

Reliability : 10
This pedal is built like a tank but without the weight. It's really cool looking too. You can tell Gig-fx put some thought into the ergonomic design. I've owned mine for about 8 months, I guess. Never had a problem with it. Honestly, I think this pedal could probably stand-up to years of pounding.

Customer Support : 10
I contacted the company once, actually on a question I had for another pedal of theirs that I have and they got back to me real quick - within the day. They were really cool, very helpful, etc.

Overall Rating : 10
I was looking for a pedal that could double as a wah-wah and volume pedal. This definitely does it with a great smooth feel and excellent settings options that can get what I need.

Stupid-easy to use! The only critique I have against it is:
1) the knobs are a bit stiff to switch and
2) I wish I had this several decades ago!!!

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely STUNNING! The Cry-Baby setting is spot on perfect but I always have it set to use the Mega-Wah setting. It's truly powerful. You can set the thing to work as an optical volume pedal too!! I've been desiring something like this for freakin' years!! It really feels great and responsive.

Reliability : 10
It's very light but very solid and strong. I've owned it for about 2 months now and have had no problems at all. My instincts tell me this pedal will hang in with me for years.

Customer Support : 10
I wrote a review for their Chopper pedal... read it and read what I said about the support help I've received. Jeff Purchon is the chief tech geek behind the scenes at gig-fx. He's been very responsive and helpful even for the simple stupid questions I had.

Overall Rating : 10
Get this pedal! It is well worth it! NO.... I do not work for the company. Oh... it also has a stereo output too, like the Chopper. The two together really gives me a lift... I'm serious, I love playing through these pedals.

Is it easy to use? Not really.

The wah effect is 'switchless', ie it engages wah when you step forward on the pedal. But the way it's set up, it's really easy to switch the wah off again. Pivot your foot back to get the low end of the wah for more than a microsecond and - abracadabra! It's switched itself off and you're back with normal guitar. I've played wah for a million years, including two other switchless pedals, and the set up on this one is frustrating and just wrong. There's no way of adjusting the switch delay either, which would fix the problem.

Secondly there's a tiny, cheap and fragile selector switch that chooses wah mode or volume mode. It took about three days of use (light use, at home) before the switch started to go a bit odd. Sometimes when you switch to wah, the pedal goes completely dead ie let's no signal through at all. You then have to fiddle with the switch until you get in just the right position to work again.

A minor detail, but the battery compartment has to be unscrewed with tiny little screws, which isn't ideal. I can live with that, though.

Apart from that it's OK. the volume pedal bit works fine. The different wah settings are easy to switch between. The switches are tiny and awkward, but few people will want to switch wah styles on the fly.

Sound Quality : 5
I've used it with a Gretsch Electromatic, mexican strat, shergold masquerader, Burns Marvin and a Burns Brian May. Gone through varous amp simulators (including POD, sansamp classic) also straight in to Fender Twin, Musicman 50 watt valve head, Peavey Classic. Used it in every place in the effects chain to test it out. Used it just with guitar and amp and nothing else.

In truth it sounds ordinary. I've heard worse, but there's nothing special about the sound no matter what setting you choose. The normal wahs are a bit gutless. The 'mega wah' setting, which I had high hopes for, just sounds like a normal wah.

The reverse wah isn't at all exciting. The autowah is servicable.

Reliability : 3
It doesn't feel at all robust. As I explained above, the switches are low quality and fragile.

I wouldn't use it on a gig where I really needed either wah or volume control from a pedal. In my current gig set these are both optional extras that I don't need to use. But if I did need them, I'd pick another pedal.

I can't recommend this to anybody. It's a great dissapointment. it wasn't cheap and I think anybody could do much better for the money. It's not terrible, but in truth it's a bit feeble all round. It's mega-ordinary.

I was seduced by the sales pitch and a couple of online opinions. It hardly seems like I've got the same pedal as those people were writing about. I went for it
a - because it's stereo and I have a stero rig and though it would be useful for that, but it sounds no clearer/wider/deeper/more transparent/more anything than a normal mon wah
b - because I like one pedal for wah and volume
c - because I was intrigued by the capacity to split the two wah channels. In practice though, it doesn't really add much.

It's a nice shiny red colour and the LEDs are pretty (blue and red).

There is no button on the pedal to activate it, just push down and your good to go, simple. With a turn of a knob you get the cry with a classic tone, mega which i like the best, trig, and auto. its easy to find out what settings you like with the selector knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
Best wah i have ever played on, with the reverse switch you can jam out like bob marley, or turn it off and play metal like kirk hammet, or dimebag. stereo outputs are straight forward and sound great. great sounds no feedback.

Reliability : 10
heavy duty everything, from the footswitch to the setting knobs. Only playing on it for a few weeks it seems to me like this would be almost impossiable to break.

Customer Support : 10
Talking to Susan from the company helped me to understand what i was getting into before i purchased the pedal. answering any question that i could come up with. great people, great service.

Overall Rating : 10
Ive been playing now for 5 years, pretty much playing anything and everything. this pedal can match up to any style that you need it too. I would reccomend it to everyone. if you need a wah why buy one that you will most likley replace down the road because you want more sound, just go for more in the first place.

Easy to use, no spring back lets you hold a tone with out holding your foot, great sounds- lots of tweaking that you can do, heavy duty. pick one up.
