Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Rock, Psychadelic, Funk, Blues, Metal, Prog, etc...
Reason for pickup change: Wanted a high-quality -Humbucking- pup. The stock pups are single coil.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hot...(hotter than the stock pups for sure).
Tone: Strong mids and treble with balanced low-end. Clear and present.
Sonic evaluation: I run it to a Mesa Booogie Bass 400 with an SWR 4x10. I use
effects off and on, but the review is for the unaffected sound.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play prog/hard rock with blue/funk/psychadelic overtones. It works well.
Overall Rating
:
9
Comments: I've played for nearly 10 yrs. The Rick is an excellent bass, the Mesa and SWR are also quality gear. I would say that the 6RC alone can produce the best tones of both the stock pups without any of the muddiness or clang. With the 6RT, the two give you a lot of quality tone to work with (without losing any of the Rick's inherant sound).
