Features :
Pickup features: Passive
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Mexican made Fender P-Bass
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Stock
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Rock, Jazz, Blues
Reason for pickup change: Unhappy with stock pickup!

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: slighty greater output than stock
Tone: Well balanced tone, slighty hightened low-end, incredible harmonics
Sonic evaluation: I bought these to further upgrade my mexican p-bass. I had already replaced the thin, cheap bridge with a leo quan badass II. The bass sounded great acoustically (good sustain and tone) but just didn't sound great plugged in. After replacing the pickups it now has that great P-basstone (think Fleetwood mac). I play flatwound strings into a hartke combo.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play lots of Blues/Jazz and Rock.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: This pickup was part of a project to turn a cheap bass into a much more usable one. I highly recommend anyone who owns a MIM p-bass switch out the stock pickups for a set of these immediately. They're not cheap but they are well worth the money!!

Features :
Pickup features: Passive Split Coil P size
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Custom passive 4 string neckthru bass
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: N/A
Other pickups on guitar: Bartolini Quad J in bridge position
Artists using this pickup: N/A
You musical style(s): Metal, Jazz, Funk
Reason for pickup change: New bass, new pickup

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: People always think it's an active bass. Way higher than most passive PUs
Tone: Balanced, with thick lows, clear warm mids and shiny highs.
Sonic evaluation: I now plug the bass into a SanSamp BassDriver and then directly into the PA.
This pickup is almost alive. It has this phaser-type Bartolini sound that just fills any gap in the sound of the band.
It sounds like an expanded Precision bass. Growly and compact.
It works perfectly in cunjunction with the Quad J. When I wire them series, I get a somewhat brutal, blurry StingRay type sound with thunderous attack.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Metal, Jazz, Funk. I couldn't get a better one. I've never seen used other than in neck position.

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I'd definitely get the same for a Ptype bass.
I've been playing for 12 years, and I've had this pickup for 8 years. It's a part of my sound. It tends to get blurry when you push it thru too many effects, but then I use more of the bridge PU.
An excellent unit, now a classic actually.

Features :
Pickup features: humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: 93 mexi P-Bass
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: original
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): rock
Reason for pickup change: looking for a different sound than the stock pup witch was a bit muddy and really emphasized that p bass Klack sound too much

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: sounds a bit lower output than the original mexi PUP
Tone: the lows are less muddy--noticeably- and that p bass klank is not as prominent
Sonic evaluation: i use a hartke and a peavey bass amp, also a sansamp direct

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: good for rock, R & B, Jazz probably not bright enuf for the slappers

Overall Rating : 8
Comments: I am happy about how it sounds. I was a bit disapointed at first by the lower output but than i began to really like the sound. its also dead quiet--even thru a distortion pedal.

Features :
Pickup features: Passive standard PBass replacement
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Fender PBass
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Fender
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): R&B, Jazz, Rock
Reason for pickup change: Wanted a tighter bottom end with increased bass response

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: seems a tick hotter than standard Fender Pbass pickup
Tone: Deep bottom - strong mids - somewhat rolled off top end
Sonic evaluation: I put this in a 76 Precision and am using a Mesa tube amp. I was looking for a more high-fi sound which retained the character of a standard PBass. This pickup did the trick. The bottom is tighter with less distortion and boom. The sound is slightly deeper and the bass retained its Precision midrange signiture, just cleaner. After a few gigs I switched to flat wounds and the bass really came in nice and vintage. This pickup is not a screamer in the top register, I don't think slappers would like it but if you're going for deep vintage this is the one.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: R&B, Jazz, Classic rock

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: I would definately use this pickup in another Precision if the original pickup was not cutting it. All these 70's Precisions sound different and this pickup can fix some of them for the better (some are perfect without changing pickups). I tried an old Dimarzio at one point in the same bass and the Bartolinni is much better. I've been playing for 25 years so I know what a vintage bass should sound like.

Features :
Pickup features: Split coil HB, passive
Impedence or other specs: ? Not listed with enclosed instructions.......

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: MIM Fender Standard Precision Bass
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Stock
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup: Unknown, but some pros are probably using this model.
You musical style(s): Classic rock, blues, jazz
Reason for pickup change: I was looking for a more powerful pickup. One that would make the sound stand out in the mix.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Higher output than the stock pickups. For passives, these are impressive.
Tone: Clear, favoring the lows and low-mids.
Sonic evaluation: I play through an Ampeg B-100r. These Bartolinis are perfectly matched with the P-Bass (using flatwounds) and Ampeg rig to deliver what can best be described as the "classic" 60's - 70's tone. Think Jamerson and Motown and you'll get the picture. With the Barts installed, my P is much more livley sounding and responsive. Words I'd use to describe the difference in sound over the stock pups would be: clear, powerful, thunderous, pleasing.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: There probably aren't many pickups available that would be better suited for my style. Cream, early Led Zep, Willie Dixon, Doors, CCR, Buddy Guy, Stones, Albert King.....

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: These are not inexpensive, but they make a tremendous improvement in my tone. I'll look no further to get the sound I want from my P-Bass. I've always been satisfied with the Fender pups in my Jazz Bass, but now I may think about changing to Barts in that instrument, also.
