Features :
Passive, Humbucking

Instrument :
I installed this pickup on a bare Dottore Salvadore bass in the same position as it is found on the Musicman stingray

Sound : 10
The pickup is punchy as hell and slices through the mix like a shark through water (I play through an Ashdown Mag 300). Sadly the action on this prototype bass is too high and the neck is very high up the body so it is difficult to release the full slapping potential of this pickup. But for finger playing it does exactly what it's supposed to; sound fantastic and choppy at loud volumes (as well as quietly).

Overall Rating : 10
Wiring was bit of a problem as the thick wires struggled to fit into the narrow grooves of the Dottore. But once it was up and running it sounded exactly as I'd hoped. Often in the music buisness people pay for a name rather than purely for quality, but although this was an expensive pickup Bartolini certainly delivered the goods.

Features :
Pickup features: Active, Humbucker
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Ernieball musicman stingray 4-string
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: stock
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: Flea on his modulus
You musical style(s): Funk, rock, blues, anything with a hot groove
Reason for pickup change: The pole pieces were sharp and way too far up off the pickup(couldnt change) and they were corroding.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Mostly the same...maybe a LITTLE lower
Tone: more metalic on slap, very rich and growly with fingers. Way better than stock
Sonic evaluation: I use a boss ds-1 ditortion, and a zoom bfx-708. For my amps i have a fender bassman 100w w/15inch the i run that through a channel on my carvin 200w PA system w/ 6 channels, 2x10's. Sounds awsome. Simply put. Shakes the house. Pickup works great with stock pre-amp

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: The MMX is the best for funk. I believe they make a MMK(trebly) and a MMC(bassy) so you can get what you want to sound like.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: I would buy it again.I dont really know how someone would steal JUST the pickup...but anyway. It was $100. thenm it was $10 shipping from seattle. Then is was like $35 for installation. So it was about 160 with tax. Im sure many people have the same problem with the stock and this is a AWESOME replacement. And it looks cool as hell. Its just all black with "bartolini" on it. I have a Burnt apple stingray and it looks so freak'n cool. I love it.
