Perceived output level: In the passive mode, the output is about the same
Tone: Very clear and wide range, allowing for wide variety of tones
Sonic evaluation: I want to add that Bartolini makes different versions of the Musican
Man pickups-Dual coil, tripple coil and quad(4) coil versions. Also
they come in different voicings-Standard, high boost etc. I picked the

Duncan Music Man replacement pre-amp into a custom 4 string-Ash body
with quilt maple top rosewood neck. With light round-wound strigs, the

treble and there is plenty of "Roll" in the low end and when low end is
boosted it dosn't get muddy it very full. A very high-fi sound. This
allows you to get a wide variety of tones out of the one pickup. "You
can't boost what aint there". This set-up gives plenty to work with.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play "up the cuntry" funk-finger and slap, Jazz and Rock. I thinkit works well in all situations because of the wide range to work with. I can add or cut whats needed. the pickup is

Comments: I would buy this pickup again. I have been playing for about 18 years
I also have a Fernandes Jazz copy with EMG's and another custom with
both a Earnie Ball MM pickup and a Seymour Duncan Stainless Steel MM
pickups and pre-EB MM pre-amp. Play through a 4x10 w/horn and 2x15
plus horn cabs. A 440 watt bi-amped head
