Features :
Single coil, passive. NOT HUM CANCELLING!! :(

Instrument :
I installed this Quarter Pound Jazz pickup at the bridge position of my Yamaha RBX460. I replaced the stock PJ set with a Basslines Quarter Pound PJ set because even though the Yamaha stuff was ok, it was really voiced to rock. I wanted a more versitile pickup set in the bass.

Sound : 7
The output level is pretty hot. I cannot use this pickup in a studio setting because it is a single coil designed for reverse polarity hum cancelling. Since the P-style Quarter Pound pickup in the middle position is not designed for this kind of noise reduction, this particular J pickup is very noisy in the studio. :( However, playing this particular bass live, I do tend to the pickup pan more toward this pickup instead of the P-style Quarter Pounder because of the smooth, classic jazz tone. I am giving a "7" rating for the sound because of the hum.

Overall Rating : 8
I am a studio session bassist, and I love Basslines in general for studio work because Seymour Duncan gear yields great tone, period. I am disappointed with this particular pickup because of the hum in the studio, but I make up for it when I play the bass in live settings. My Yamaha RBX460 that I installed the Quarter Pound PJ set in will soon undergo a fretless conversion, and I am confident that the bass will sound fantastic!

I am satisfied overall with this pickup when I am able to utilize it, so I'm giving an overall rating of "8".

Features :
Single coil
replaced a DiMarzio That I thought was messed up but it was just wired wrong I liked the DiMarzio in the bridge (which is wha t I replaced) B/C of the "slappy" type sound I could get out of it

Instrument :
In a Yamaha BB somthing I know it's L.H'ed and it has a ****load of aftermatket parts (tuners knobs P/U's)
Have a DiMarzio J in the neck that is really "Boomy" sounding not muddy just more for like using a 15 rather than a 4X10 Hartke with a 3500 head (Hartke too DER)
I know David Ellefson uses this in his bridge along w a p version in the neck (one of my fave bassists)

Sound : 10
HOT HOT HOT

Im using like I said a Hartke 3500 head and a 4x10 Transporter can along w a sansamp 3 channel (if your gonna get a sansamp GET THE 3 CHANNEL THERE THE SAME ******* PRICE AS THE SINGLE AND IT DOES HAVE A LINE AND XLR OUT SO NO NEED TO EVEN BRIG AN AMP to a gig that is)
Thrash/Death/grind mtl

Overall Rating : 9
if it were lost Id put the DiMarzio I had in it back in it I dont think I'd buy another one unless the DiMar crapped out
