:
Model of guitar or bass: Ibanez SR800FL (4 string fretless) and Cusom Rein van Nes Dweller 5 string (fretless)
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: EMG p/j set (on the Ibanez SR800FL)
Other pickups on guitar: SJB-5 5-String Stack? for Jazz Bass? (on Rein van Nes Dweller)
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Prog-rock / symphonic rock / metal
Reason for pickup change: On the Ibanez SR800FL the original pickups had a very low output and were noisy. Other than that, I love the groovy Stingray sound. This pickup turned out so well that I'd order another one for my 5 string cusom build Dweller bass.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: To-Die-For-Hot (not every amp can handle my bass now)
Tone: Deep warm low with a funky grund.
Sonic evaluation: I use a Trace Elliot GP12SMX pre amp with a Peavey CS800s power-amp, powering 2 Hartke Transporter 4x10" cabinets.
(the best combination I've ever heard)
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: Prog-rock / Symphonic rock. This combination is perfect !
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: I'm playing bass for 14 years now. I finaly ended my quest for the perfect bass, pickup, amp, speaker combination. I was a hell of a quest. Trying every combination possible. But this set-up is it !!! I can recomend it to all bass players of every style of music.
Owkay.... 800watts of power seems like a lot. But I can create every type of sound on every volume desireble.
