Reason for pickup change: after expirimenting on the original body, i discovered the only pickup position, to maintain e string volume equil to the rest of the other strings, is about a half inch from bridge.wanted a pickup that would have some bottom end oomph.

Perceived output level: plenty loud
Tone: lots of everything,especially highs and upper mids...tone knob a must
Sonic evaluation: gallien kruger head, jbl 2-10's and 1-15.this pickup might pe better suited for slap style, but thats not me. with round wound strings it has a piano kind of quality, but in a 4 or more piece band, i find myself rolling back the tone knob.

Comments: if someone stole this bass, they would pay, w/interest.short scale basses are fun and fast to play.most bassists don't like them because the e string sucks.this one is rather good.no, its not the sound exactly, but it is more than had hoped for. been playing since the sixtys, have ferder, ibanez sr 800, homemade fretless (my favorite); this one sees lots of playing time
