I replaced the stock pickups over 30 years ago on the 63 P bass that I bought new in 64. I've always been extremely happy with this pickup. It improved the already nice fat sound of my P bass 100%. I'd never go back to stock (although I do have them in a drawer). These are twice as fat sounding, and the output is 50% hotter. Great pickups. I highly recommend this mod to ANYBODY with a P bas.

If my P bass was stolen, I'd die. Plain and simple. I NEVER let it out of my sight. It doesn't stay in the car at all and NEVER in the club.
But yes, I'd put Dimarzio pick ups on any bass that I used professionally.

humbucking, fairly high impedence and my oh my...they are ceramic
a big deal as i have never enjoyed a ceramic OR active bass pickup as much as i have the good ol' alnico fenders and rio's. these replaced some bartolini 8 alnicos (for 2x the price) and it flat out kills them imho.
Instrument
:
these went in a guild pilot then sx shortscale bass
replaced emgs and aforementioned bartos....nothing exciting going on with those, and i mean that in a good way.
changed it out just to see what's up as I have used maybe 50 diff. guitar pickups and 18 diff. bass pickups...and always seem to like dimarzio best. i dont play metal at all, i like the clean sounds and have found seymour basic single coils the best, but for any humbuckers....its dimarzio. this includes all the overpriced crap like fralins and such (except for orig. bill lawrences and bardens...wheeeooo)

i want a simple motown and early sting sound....your basic low end pbass thumpy thump thump.
this is it boys and girls, delivers the sound in spades.
its cheap. it has great lows, good mids and highs...but i like lows and this has it in clarity.
not a jazz bass guy, dont care for the sound...so you can see im coming from the jamerson school, these be it. only negative im giving it is that they didn't come to my attention sooner.

perfect.
please do a pbass pickup shootout and see what happens with these
I never thought i'd find a great pickup for this cheap amount of dough...though not real real cheap like emg selects...but they do rock bawlsout.
satisfied yes.
if i tried anything else it would be the blade version of these, but supposedly they aren't really p-bassy in sound.
this sounds like paul simonon from the clash baby

Full thick fat well balanced solid tone gutsy mid-range provides growl???
Defiantly more output notice big difference
Better sound over the stock MIM pickups.
They fit my style of playing and sound, excellent for the blues.
Excellent choice for Blues & Rock!

Love the fat bottom end and the great mid & smooth high end these pups produce warm tone all the way, I plan on replacing the stock ups with SD quarter pound, but after research I found these to be the tone that suited my taste, I would defiantly buy there again!!
