Artists using this pickup: Me!
You musical style(s): Heavy with a cool groove!
Reason for pickup change: I needed that extra "oomph", and boy does this pickup have it!
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: Very high (580mV), will distort and peel the skin off your face!
Tone: overall balanced, but with a definite bass boost, and a very tight botttom end
Sonic evaluation: I play my 1976 Rickenbacker 4001 through a Marshall model 1986 50W bass head with 2 Marshall 4x12 (1960A & B) guitar cabinets. I will be replacing the speakers in the cabs with Celestion 12" bass speakers, soon.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play heavy misuc with a cool groove, and I purposely have a very over the top distorted sound... Marshall on 10, bay-bee!!
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: I would definitely replace it if it were stolen or got wrecked. In fact I will be loading another one in my 1977 Rickenbacker 4001, very soon.
I have been playing for 14 years. I started on guitar, and own a few of them : 1983 B.C. Rich Warlock American Neck-Through, 1991 Gibson Flying V, 1992 Gibson Explorer, 1994 Gibson Les Paul Custom, 1986 Ibanez DT-250. I use a Nady RW-3 UHF wireless sytem, and a few Boss Pro rack units (Compressor, EQ, Noise Suppressor), and a Korg DT-1 rack tuner.
I love the output and the crunch of this pickup! I hate nothing about it, it's perfect for my application!
I chose it because I have the guitar version in a couple of my guitars, and I loved the tone and the high output, so I got one for my bass, and it sounds even better... totally blew my mind!
This is THE pickup for my playing style!
