Features :
Pickup features: passive
Impedence or other specs: high

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Jackson Kb1
Position: middle
Pickup being replaced: Jackson stock pickups
Other pickups on guitar:
Artists using this pickup: N/A
You musical style(s): mostly rock and metal
Reason for pickup change: The stock Jackson pickups were totally worthless pieces of crud....They had to go as soon as possible

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: they seem to have a higher output level than other passives I have played. Then again I could have heard a flea fart over those jackson piles of sh*t
Tone: they are pretty well balanced....
Sonic evaluation: I usually play through a fender BXR100. By using its EQ and the volume on board my bass I can get the EMGs to produce anything from lows to highs.... These pickups are very quiet except for the little hum which seems to come from most J pickups.... even with that they are still quieter than most others.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: these pickups seem to be suitable for any style of playing. To be honest however...I dont do much slapping so I cant speak on them for that

Overall Rating : 6
Comments: From my experience these pickups seem to be an excellent value.... I havent had any problems with them and they sound fine. They give me a range of sounds which I can do whatever I like with. The P pickups have a good deep growl and the J has a rich chorusy feel. If I want to rock, I can... If I want to slow it down I can do that too. As far as pickups in general go these are a 6. As far as passive pickups go these are a 9 or 10.

Features :
Pickup features: passive; EMG's budget line
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Stage Guitars copy of P-bass
Position: all positions
Pickup being replaced: came stock
Other pickups on guitar: none
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): rock, mostly
Reason for pickup change: I replaced these because they picked up hum.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Average.
Tone: Fairly clear sounding, within the parameters of P and J style pickups.
Sonic evaluation: These are clearer sounding than the Fender P and J (bridge) pickups, more hi-fi and less vintage growl.
But the differences aren't radical, to my ears.
On the other hand, bass isn't my main instrument, so maybe I'm not sensitive enough to the sound differences...

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I guess they're versatile enough.

Overall Rating : 6
Comments: I replaced them with a Seymour Duncan vintage P-bass pickup and
a Classic Jazz Stack. The Duncans don't sound very different, but
they're humbucking, which was the big problem with the selects.
