Features :
Pickup features: Passive
Impedence or other specs:

Instrument :
Model of guitar or bass: Godin Freeway 4
Position: neck
Pickup being replaced: StocK
Other pickups on guitar: Bridge stock
Artists using this pickup: ?
You musical style(s): Anything except country and rap
Reason for pickup change: Ludicrous lack of definition for the low E with the stock pickups.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: A bit more than the stock pickups, think vintage "hot"
Tone: Middy tone that brings the growl out
Sonic evaluation: I play this through one of earth best kept secret: Laney Richter 100watts, no very expensive but extremely versatile amp.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I like Jazz and Rock more than anything else, very well suited for both.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: First, I need to make one thing clear: I hate noiseless/Lace Sensors pickups for guitar with a passion since I find that they stip away any "feeling" a guitar may have to replace it with a hi-fi quality sound that I just can't stand.
Now regarding the Lace Sensors P+J for Bass: I just love these pickups. I find that they are a very good comprimise between a hot pickup that is not usable for Jazz or more quiet music and a vintage pickup that just does not have that thump needed for heavier rock.
They are a very good all around jobber that can be used for just about any styles. I you are into rock only, don't even bother looking, EMG's are much better suited for the job and if Slap is your thing then also turn away and get yourself a good pair of Bartolinis. If like me, you play alot of styles from Led Zep to Metallica to Thelonius Monk (yes you read right), then the Lace Sensors will be a God send.
Are there better pickups out there for a specific job: Definetly
Are there any pickups as versatile with good definition that does not color the sound and lets your bass and wood resonate out there (excluding active pickups): I don't think so.
Btw, I am one of those weirdos that use flatwound on a fretted bass, these pickups bring out one hell of a growl that is to die for for Jazz or rock a la Rush.

Comments: This is a great pickup combination!
When I first bought this bass I imediatlly thougt i'll have to
Get rid of those lace pickups so I went and bought Fender pickups
But as the time went by I started to fall in love with that sound
People who heard me play the bass said: "it's the sound of an old
Vintage bass"... me,I love the WOOD sound that this pickups are
All about and when I hear a Precision sound in a song thats playing
In the radio-this is the sound.
The J pickup is very uniqe and very quiet sounds like a zipper :-)
In a live applications this pickups cut through and keep their
Outstanding deffinition. like the last reviewer said it has great
Fidelety both to the acustic sound of the guitar and to the
Precision/JazzBass trade mark sound. classic/vintage tone.

Product: Fender Lace Sensor P and J
Price Paid: Paid US$60 for P pickup, US$55 for J pickup

Features :
Pickup features: Low noise, excellent fidelity
Impedance or other specs: No tech details available

Instrument :

Model of guitar or bass: Fender "78 fretless Precision Bass
Position: P in neck oisition, J in bridge position
Pickup being replaced: Standard Fender P pickup
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup: ????
Your musical style(s): Diverse
Reason for pickup change:
I have a Fender fretless Precision Acoustic/Electric than came
with a Lace Sensor P pickup. It reproduced the fretless "growl" very well.
The standard Fender P pickup that was on the "78 fretless soild body wasn"t
giving the same fidelity of reproduction of the acoustic sound I could hear
out of the Ash solid body. Also wanted to add a J pick up for more tonal
variation but wanted a noise free J.

Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level:
Output level is just a little higher than the equivalent standard Fender
pickups.
Tone:
Very nicely balanced sound, no audibly obvious colouring of the acoustic
sound of the instrument.
Sonic evaluation:
Good clean sound, no colourations, no noise.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:
N/A

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: Very satisfied.
NOTE: The Fender supplied wiring diagram that came with my pickups
was misleading. When I set up the P + J pair as per the diagram, half
the P pickup was phase reversed compared to the J pickup. The lead
colours indicated on the diagram were different from those on the
actual P pickup, and the inituitve choice turned out to be wrong. You
may need to experiment with wiring.
