Features :
This is the stacked coil Jazz Bass pup from Fender. It's a passive design.

Instrument :
I dropped a matched set in as replacements for the stock pups on my MIA '62 Jazz reissue. I bought the bass new in 1987, and always loved the tone, but the dreaded Jazz Bass Hum was finally getting to me.

Sound : 9
I'm running the bass through a Traynor YBA 200 tube head and Avatar Neo 2x10 and 1x15 cabs. I occasionally use a Russian EH Bass Balls as an fx box. I'm using webstrings nickel flats on this particular bass.

The output is similar to the stock pups. The tone is very near the original pups, but just a bit thicker and darker. I can still get plenty of thump from the neck pup soloed, and growl from the bridge pup.

I play primarily classic (geezer) rock, and the pups work very well in this bass for this genre. Gain-freaks and metal-heads might not care for the vintage tone.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing bass since 1977. The Jazz is sharing the rack with a '79 Franken-P/J, '74 Ric 4001, '91 T-bird, '90s MIJ Fender Acoustic/Electric fretless Precision, an Epi Jack Casady hollow body bass and a recent MIJ '51 Precision reissue.

I love the pups tone, and I really love the lack of noise. I have a Duncan STK-J1 in the bridge position of the '79 Franken-P/J. It, too, sounds nice, but the Fender pups are closer to the vintage tone I want for this bass.

These are on a new MIA Fender Jazz with S-1 upgrade switch (for series or parallel pickup mode).
These are the Vintage Noiseless with 2 poles per string (8 total) for a more vintage Jazz bass tone. This really brought my bass alive. I just wanted to get rid of the hum noise on my MIA Jazz with S-1 Upgrade but what I got was far better. Full, Rich, Fat tone that has beautiful mids and smooth highs. This pickup rocks and makes my bass sound much more expensive and even better than my MIM Fender Deluxe Zone bass with Active EQ. In standard Parallel mode it is Jazz all the way but much richer and smoother. In Series mode it put out Deep, punchy low end like a P bass would sound. It had thunderous low end that was distinct and not boomy or muddy. It has the same level of output as my MIM Zone with active eq (9volt) and Deadpan silence even a foot and one half from my computers monitor. This would have been a hugh buzz machine with the Stock pickups. By comparison it made the stock pickups sound cheezy and thin. I originally ordered a preamp for this bass but called and cancelled it as it is no longer needed.
I am in "Tone Heaven" as it makes my less than perfect playing sound really good.
Highs have a bell like clarity and glassiness to them now. Lows can sound Powerful or deep Piano like tones. I am using GHS Boomers and these pickups made them shine similar to Stainless.
No hype here, just pure satisfaction.
It has 2 poles for each string with the 4 center poles slightly higher and the Gold Fender "Noiseless" in script on the bottom R/H side of the top of the cover. It is for the newer model MIM Jazz and all MIA 4 string jazz models that require a slightly smaller neck pickup from the bridge.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: This is an excellent match for any type music.

Overall Rating : 10
Comments: If stolen, I would go after them with man eating dogs, shotguns, or whatever it took!
