Sound : No Opinion
Perceived output level: Mid-level
Tone: Overly boomy bottom. Smooth mids and highs.
Sonic evaluation: Used by itself, the AH1 is OK for clean rhythm, once the bottom end is eq'd out substantially. However, it really shines when used in the out-of-phase/split combination with the AS1 middle pickup. In this configuration, the tone is exquisitely clean and thin. It has the 80's strat shimmer, but with a deeper mid scoop and better highs and lows. Depends on what your favorite flavor is whether you like it that way or not.

For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable:

Overall Rating : 7
Comments: I really like the out-of-phase combo, so I have no plans to replace this pickup.
