Features
:
Lollar`s standard passive single coil jazz bass set. I apologize for not knowing the impedance or other specs, I only really care about the tone.
Instrument
:
These reside in an `05 Fender American jazz bass, which has a rosewood board. The original pickups were replaced with Fralins, which in turn were installed in a different bass to make way for the Lollars. Not sure if any artists are using these, and it wouldn`t have any bearing whatsoever on me buying them.

I`d put the output level as less than Fralins, and equal or slightly less than the stock Fender pups. I use no effects, and the only amp I`m using right now is a Fender Bassman 150 (a crappy-sounding amp, but that`s a whole other story). I play only fingerstyle, and the type of music I play is "old-time" gospel and a touch of gospel bluegrass.
As for the tone, these are definately better than the stock pickups. Compared with Fralins I had installed in the exact same bass, not as good. The Fralins are much better balanced across the strings, as well as being brighter. The Lollars are a bit drier, and, as I said, darker. Dark isn`t necessarily a bad thing; I just prefer the warm, balanced, and brighter Fralins over these.

If these were lost or stolen, I`d get Fralins, or maybe try another brand of aftermarket pups. I`ve been playing for around 17 years, and am always trying to find the "perfect" tone. These don`t have it, although they are still very good. I don`t want to sound like I`m ripping Lollar`s stuff, because I know he`s a very renowned pickup maker. It`s just that for me, Fralin`s pups sound better. I`m giving the overall rating of five because you`re supposed to also consider if these are a good value. Since I paid the same price for these as a set of Fralins, and they don`t sound as good, they aren`t a great value IMO.
