Impedence or other specs: Pickup head diameter: 3/4" - Height: 1/32" - Impedance: High ohmic - Length of connection cable: 1 ft.
Instrument
:
Model of guitar or bass: Regal Resonator Bass RD-05
Position: bridge
Pickup being replaced: N/A
Other pickups on guitar: N/A
Artists using this pickup:
You musical style(s): Classic Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass
Reason for pickup change: The RD-05 is an acoustic. I needed a way to easily get that resonator tone to either an amp or a mixer. The Big Twin was a simple solution.
Sound
:
No Opinion
Perceived output level: The Big Twin transducers provide good output, but a pre-amp really makes the pickups shine.
Tone: Acousticly transparent. The Big Twin does not colour the sound at all !!
Sonic evaluation: I play through a Crate BX200H into a Crate 15" cabinet. Sometimes I plug directly into a mixer. What I really like about the Big Twin is that it does not colour the tone of the resonator in any way. It just provides a way to get the acoustic sound to your amp.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: The Big Twin will work well for any style where an acoustic stringed insturment is being used.
Overall Rating
:
10
Comments: If the Big Twin were lost or stolen, I'd definitly get another.
I love the price of the Big Twin - a real bargin beater.K&K Sound is a first class operation, a pleasure soing business with. I really like the transparentcy of the pickup. I dislike the way the transducers pick up string noise - but all transducers are like that.
I compared this to the Barcuss Berry, MacIntyre and Shadow pickup systems. K&K won because of the quality and outstanding price.
I am very satisfied with the sound of this pickup, I hate to give anything a 10, but this really deserves no less.
