Features :
Active Soapbar pickup for 6 string bass

Instrument :
Installed in custom neck-through bass with 35" maple neck, ebony board, and Lacewood wings, in neck and bridge position. Setup with 9v, but these will work with 18v too.

Sound : 10
Output is moderate. Running though BBE Bmax and Crown Cti 1000, Avatar 2X10 and 1X12 stack. Playing Carvin/labella strings. Play rock, blues, praise&worship. The tone is what I was looking for: clean but solid lows, and all the musical highs you could want. With new strings I have to roll off the tone to warm things up, but my philosophy is that highs can more easily be removed than added... Anyway, these pickups will pay for themselves because your strings will sound good much, much longer! I just changed strings after a year of steady playing(I change strings monthly on my 5-string) At the end, I still had a warm yet articulate sound, no mud. (As I run sound too, I hate the "boomy" sound that makes for muddy mixes.) These pups are clean, quiet, and sound great to me.

Overall Rating : 10
These give me the sound I like: hifi, piano bass tone, but the warm right up when I stop digging into the strings. In other words, when you are trying to be heard, they actually help you cut through. I am in fact getting ready to put another set of these into a fretless.

Overall Rating : 9
Comments: Overall, I really like the tone of these pickups. The lows are huge,
but not muddy at all. They seem to put out higher frequencies than most other pickups I've used(both passive and active). The sound is
very full, tight and detailed. On their own, the sound is deep and smooth, and with some mid boost at the amp, you can get a good growly aggressive tone from the bridge pickup. I require a wide range of useable tones from a bass, as I perform with several groups, ranging from hard rock, jazz, folk, and even southern gospel. These pickups do the job, and do it well.
