You musical style(s): R&B
Reason for pickup change: I liked the basic tone of the bass--growly, punchy, with lots of clarity and a rich low end--but wanted more output, less hum and more bottom end fullness.
Sound

No Opinion
Perceived output level: Hotter than stock pickups.
Tone: High output, with smoother top end, even midrange, and big bottom.
Sonic evaluation: I highly recommend this pickup to anyone considering putting their Rick bass under their bed. My main bass has been a '79 Fender Precision with a Duncan Vintage P, and it has been resting comfortably at home ever since I've got the Rick. My main gig amp is a SWR Basic Black (1x15+horn). The Rick now has the bottom of the Precision, with the clarity for which it is famous. With the new pickups, the Rick surprises many players with its quality tone and big bottom. Players that were normally turned off by the Rick have approached me to ask about the bass. I'm very happy with my purchase.
For which styles and positions is this pickup (un)suitable: I play R&B and folk, but my main gig is horn-driven pop.
