Features
:
The deets: These are single coil jazz-stle pickups, made with Alnico 5 magnets. They are wax potted, and the neck pickup is reverse wound so they are hum canceling when used together. Neck pickup is 8k Ohms, and Bridge is 8.5k Ohms.
Instrument
:
I installed them in a Bass Company JT-400-JJ (Jazz Bass Model), and replaced the stock pickups. They weren't bad, but they always sounded kind of sterile. I was not a fan of stock the on-board pre-amp, either. I ended up taking that out and installing a Stan Hinesly wiring harness as well (new pots, passive, better tone control).
Sound
:
No Opinion
Output: these pickups really sing, and have no problem cutting through the mix.
Equip: I use a Hughes & Kettner BassBase 600 and a Dr. Bass BL2260 (2x12, 3-way, 1000w). I tested the pickups throught both a clean signal as wel as through various effects (preamp, flanger, bass synth wah, overdrive).
The tone: Wow! These pickups have it all. They have a huge tonal pallete and really brought my bass to life. From soaring highs to growly lows and everything in between. Whether you want to crank up the fuzz and rock out, or clean up the tone for some playful jazz, these pickups deliver. I suck at slapping and popping, but even my limited abilities tell me these pickups will do it all.
Overall Rating

I cannot say enough good things about these pickups. If I ever buy another jazz bass, regardless of the model, I would not hesitate to drop a set of these pickups in.
