Instrument :
i asked alan knight , a british guitar tech. [ similar to bill nash] [you can find him by typing in - bigal_024 - on ebay UK ], to assemble a 1959 fender copy out or fender parts [ old and new, depending on what he had and availability ],i already had a 62 fender jazz he had assembled and reliced that i loved, and i had lucked on to stans site via harmony central, and liked his approach, so i suggested it to alan and he agreed, so i ordered the pickup and harness [ dark tone ] , its very effective harness!

Sound : 10

Features :
Passive P-Bass replacement pickup

Instrument :
Replacement for stock pickups in new Fender Highway-1 P-Bass. Although the stock pickups were fine, I've been anxious to try a HAS sound hand wound pickup. I have his tone mods in several basses and love them. I am a Jazz bass guy and this is my first P-bass, so I really wanted it to be special.

Sound : 10
The output level is actually quite loud for a passive pickup. My main bass has been a Jazz with 60's custom shop pu's and a HAS sound tone mod and is really hot, but the Mojo's are even hotter.
I use a variety of amps including a GK stack, Carvin stack, a coupla Peavy combos etc. I have a slew of custom and professional effects I use.
The tone is incredible. The balance between the low and highs are remarkable. You can hit a really hard low E and then play up high with the low E ringing out and the high notes cut right through at the same volume. The tone in one word, from the lowest note to the highest is...consistent.
I play basically ALL kinds of music professionally live and in the studio.

Overall Rating : 10
I would not even hesitate to replace these pickups if something happened. When I first recieved them there was a problem with them and I immediately contacted Stan and sent them right back and he fixed the problem and I had them back in less than a week. He is such a class act to work with!
I have been playing bass over 20 years. Lots of 60's and 70's classic rock as well as new stuff and original music. From as heavy as you can imagine to as mellow and psychedelic as possible. I consider myself a tone freak and was afraid to even start messing with a P-Bass after several years of messing and perfecting the Jazz bass sound, but the Mojo's took care of that in one shot. Whew!
Although live I usually bring 3 basses, I have a hard time putting the P-Bass down now. I never thought I would say that!

Features :
Passive. Traditional p-bass fit.

Instrument :
Replaced a set of Seymour Duncan Antiquity Pickups in my 2000 Fender American Precision. I was looking for a hotter passive pickup without sacrificing the high-end tone.

Sound : 10
I play a rock/motown style and this pickup seems to be just what I was looking for. It has a balanced tone and a stronger output than stock that will allow me back off my amp a bit. My first time out with it I plugged straight in without my effects and enjoyed the bright, full punch.

Overall Rating : 10
I've been playing about 20+ years. I had tried a hot p-bass pickup from another company but it turned out to be too bass heavy.

Features :
A classic "Split P" design I find the pickup a perfect compliment to my bass. I have it installed in a 1993 Stuart Spector NS-4. Those of you that know that instrument will note that that bass comes with an active set of EMG pickups, and yes I did replace the active system wit passives. Stan was instrumental in helping me in this project as he also did the wiring harness.

I find the sound clean and articulate with lots of punch, this is important to me because I often use just the P style pickup alone.

Instrument :
The NS-4 Spector of that era is a P/J set up meaning it also has a J style pickup in the bridge position. The bass is a neck thru design with a three piece neck with "wings" attached to the center core, (mine happen to be highly flamed maple) ... It is an extraordinary instrument with a beautiful ringing sound, that the EMG active system that came on the instrument just "masked" with a sterile zingy sound.

Sound : No Opinion
I find the output of this pickup fairly high ... which it needs to be to work in tandem with the J pickup (a Carey Nordstrand NJ4SE). I find the overall tone of the pickup to have much of the "Classic" P bass mid bass hump, maybe a little more glassy than most.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I really like this pickup and would replace it with a like model ... I might add that Stan is a really great guy who caters to every need of the musicians he works with. For those who may not know his company is known as HAS sound.

Features :
This is a split coil passive P-Bass replacement pickup. About 10k.

Instrument :
I installed the Mojo in a '71 Fender Precission bass. I replaced the stock Fender pickup. I wanted to try a handwound pickup and I'd heard alot of good things about Stan Hinesley and HAS Sound.

Sound : 10
The output level seems a little hotter than stock but the tone is much clearer (articulate?) and punchier. Plenty of tight lows and punchy mids. Great definition and very balanced from string to string. The pickup is also very quiet as the two coils are wound like a humbucker. I play classic rock and funk and this pickup nailed the tone that I was looking for. My amp setup is a Hartke 3500 head and a Hartke 4x10 cab. I don't know of any style that this pickup wouldn't be suitable for.

Overall Rating : 10
I have been playing for about 30 years. If I ever needed another P pickup, I would definately buy the Mojo again. I will be replacing the pickups in my '80 Jazz bass soon and I plan to try Stan's Hot J set. I am completely satisfied with this purchase and the support that Stan gave me in hooking it up. This may not be the cheapest pickup on the market but it is the best sounding precision pickup that I have ever used. You get what you pay for!
