Features :
Both are single coil and passive. I don't know the impedances sorry.

Instrument :
None. Came installed by factory. P is in the neck. Jazz is in the bridge. Not replacing only reviewing. None. Me. None.

Sound : 7
It's pretty loud. If you turn the volume knob on either of the pickups it fades. For E.X. Turn the P pickup down and on really fast it will fade. I am a beginner but, have yet, to buy any effects. My amp is a Fender RUMBLE 15 which is very warm sounding. The P tone is very commanding it has a pitbull bite which is suprising from a passive pickup on a beginner instrument. I am very pleased.
The Jazz pickup is very sharp sounding. Almost what people whould call thin but, I feel that 'thin' is a very bad word. Because you can't blame a pickup for your bad playing. (Unless it's a Squier in which case I'm sorry.) The style of music I play is a mix between Nu-Metal (Fieldy), Punk (Sid Viscious and Jerry Only), and Hard Rock.
I am pleased with the pickups slap tone, and the punchy-ness of response to my pick strokes. If I want treble (Punk) I just turn up the P pickup louder than the Jazz and use it. If I want the punch for Hard Rock and Metal I use either just the Jazz or both for more bottom end. If I need to slap I just SLAP away. But, I've noticed that if I tap the pickups are slow to pick it up making it seem as if they had are stale sounding. So that is proably it's unsuitiable quality.

Overall Rating : 10
Well I imagene if a pickup is destroyed it would mean get another pair which would mean for to to buy another RBX 170. Which whouldn't be worth it. Atleast not for the pickups but, for the bass Hell Yeah!
I've been playing for approx. 1 month. Nothing it's my 1st instrument. I love the pickups versatility and their sound and the fact that I don't have to by batteries for them cause their passive.
But, I hate that I can't by them for my other (FUTURE) basses.
I am not at liberty to say it's better than others cause I don't know. Nothing can be added to something that I feel is already great. I think I found that sound. I found out that I really love passives sound and their no need for batteries is a awesome plus.
If anyone has time go out and try a Yamaha RBX-170. If you love passive pickups and are searching for a P+J set you have found it.
