this is my second Alembic made in the spring of 2001 at Alembic.
this is a custom SeriesII 4 string longscale(34"), 24 frets, fretted.
the body was SOLIDBODY as opposed to most Series basses which are semi-hollow.
the body shape is the standard body with a requested softer point like my previous bass.
the core of the body is cherry with a thin venner of vermilion running through the middle of the cherry.then on both the top and back,coco-bolo on top with a thin venner of maple, thick venner of vermilion, thin venner of maple. making a total of 11laminates!
the body thickness is not the normal size either; it is 1.75 " thick which is modeled after the 70's alembics.
the bass has the fabled Series II electronics which has 2 CVQ dials, master volume, bridge and neck filter, bridge and neck volume, pick-up selector switch,5-pin jack, and i added a stereo/mono switch for the 1/4 jack.
the pickups are 2 SC- 1 with HX.
these pick ups are active indeed!!!
the neck is a 7 piece neck with 4 pieces of maple and 3 pieces of ebony ,the middle piece of ebony which is thicker.
the fingerboard is ebony with mother of pearl inlays.
there are also thin venners of ebony joinng the body and the neck too.
the body has a thick high polish polyester finish.
the neck also has silver side position markers.
the bass has 70's old- school alembic top hat knobs.
the venner on the headstock are coco bolo with purpleheart venners reienforcing the neck.
the head stock has a inlaid logo with abalonie and mother of pearl.
the hardware is all chrome; i asked alembic to make my sustain block larger and a asked for a 2R trussrod plate.
the bass has dual adjusting truss rods.
the bass has continous back plates but only has two plates instead of the usual three because i have a thicker body depth on the bass.
the bridge is a soild birdtail bridge.
the tuners are chrome alembic gotoh bridge.
the bass included a hardshell case and a DS-5 power supply.
i have flatwound strings on the bass

the bass is super quiet and i can make the bass sound like 20 different basses with the CVQ switches.
the bass has a very hi-fi sound that with flat wounds some real rich and dark.
i have no dislikes about this bass.

the bass is called the BASS OF DOOM because it could withstand anything even the WTC attack !(j/K)
the strap buttomns are rock soild and this bass is definitely road worthy , although this bass is a STUDIO ONLY bass for me.
