Purchased new from the Bass Centre, this is a 2002 model with a superb flame walnut top, mahogany back and three piece maple neck that have red LEDs down the side and Oval MOP markers on the front Ebony fretboard. The body os the Series point style finished in high gloss. Signature electronics, with two AXL pick ups, volume, pan and a tone for each pick up with it's own Q switch.

Sound : 10
Played through both Eden amps and a Thunderfunk amp, using Epifani and EA cabs, this bass is simply awesome. There is nothing to fault, period.

Action, Fit, & Finish : 10
These are simply the best put together and finished basses on the planet, period.

Reliability/Durability : No Opinion
Not had it long, but I have every confidence that it will last the rigours of touring.

Customer Support : 10
No need to try them as yet. They do provide a web site for owners and actively correspond and ask all manner of questions promptly on this. They even allow you to trade used gear, Alembics included, on this, which is a cut above all other manufacturers I know of.

Overall Rating : 10
Fabulous. Would I buy another one if it were stolen; listen, I'm not waiting that long, I'm saving to get a series bass. They are expensive, but they are incredibly good value.

Made in 2002, this bass has an optional Coco Bolo facing, with optional side LED's in red, and an Omega cutout at the tail.
The neck is 24 fret and joins the body at the 21st fret position, so the length (even though it is a standard 34") feels VERY long. The neck construction is of maple with walnut pinstripe veneers, and the fingerboard is of ebony. Incidentally, the fingerboard is thicker than on any other bass I have played. Even though the neck is so long, the dual truss rods, once adjusted to my preference, have resulted in an extremely stable, and low, action.
The bridge is mounted onto a solid bell brass ingot countersunk into the body. It makes this bass ring!!
The controls are extensive - overall volume, pan pot, two Q switches (one for each pickup), and a tone roll off for each pickup. Very vesratile!!!

The sound acoustically is very resonant, with tons of sustain. I use it via an Eden rig and it is simpy fabulous!!!

The construction of this bass is outstanding. The high cost of purchase is justified by the incredible attention to details of the instrument. I have been over this thing inside and out and there is no flaw anywhere!!!

Reliability/Durability : 10
Only had this a relatively short time, but speaking to other Alembic owners, the impression is that these basses are built to stand the test of time. The strap buttons are Schaller straploks, so they should keep the bass firmply attached to me while playing.

No need so far.

The bass I have been dreaming about owning since I started playing (23 years ago!! Where has the time gone!!??). Owning it has not been a letdown.
