This bass has a fantastic jazz style tone that really cuts through. I've used in with a rock band, a blues band, and a church (bass, drums, guitar, electric guitar, 2-keys, percussionist, and 45-piece orchestra) and it fit in nicely in all the settings. I would charecterize the sound as rich and warm jazz tones - very full, with lots of compelexity - NOT a one-trick pony.
The bass is very well shielded- even though the pickups are single-coil, there is not a lot of buzz.

Geez, this thing is just about perfect. I can't find any flaws in the construction - it is up there with the best - Ken Lawrence, Sadowsky, Celinder, MTD, Fodera.... I've owned many high-end basses and this it one too! The fit, finish, set-up, wood selection, wiring... are all perfect!

This bass is really well built, made with quality pieces, great wood selection. The only thing that may be a little susceptible to wear is the candy-apple finish, but that is part of what makes the sound so good.

I've been playing 8 years now and have had a bunch of different basses, most of them in the $2,000 and up range. This bass is up there with them. I bought this used (MTD+cash) - I was wanting to get another Sadowsky (JJ - 5) to go with my Modern 5. This bass is at least as good as a Sadowsky NYC! If it were stolen, I'd buy another instead of the Sadowsky.
